The article, "The Enemy's Victory:
Darkened Homes and Harvest Parties" (1) by Andy Freeman (which was originally
posted on CBN.com) appears to have been written for the purpose of breaking down
the Christian's resolve to avoid Halloween festivities, which is really the
celebration of Satan. This perverse article equates standing fast in the most
holy faith with the fear of Satan.
The guest columnist's opening article reveals
that he is aware that he is
introducing new paradigms that go against the doctrines of the Holy Bible.
Freeman wrote:
I realize this column is going to bring
down the wrath of Preacher, teacher, and parent alike. But someone has to
break the illusion. Here goes.
What possible illusion could preachers,
teachers and parents be under regarding Halloween?
Freeman wrote:
The biggest trick played on Halloween is
Christian kids and adults being bottled up inside churches or homes all night.
That’s right! Hiding from the devil in the family life center and
surrendering the neighborhood to little Ghouls, goblins, and witches is a
victory for old Beelzebub. He’s got the church right where he wants it:
inside the four walls, hunkered down behind the stained glass.
This author is twisting the Bible to promote
what Satan's followers regard as the most important night of the year. According to this
Halloween promoter, if Christian
children stay home and abstain from the appearance of evil, they are
"hiding from the devil" rather than obeying God.
Freeman wrote:
Think about it. How many chances do you
get to mix with our neighbors during the year? At my house we are blessed with
a 4th of July block party. Otherwise, Halloween may be it for many
of you. And what is your relationship evangelism strategy? Either hustle the
kids over to church before nightfall or worse, you turn out the lights,
don’t answer the children at the door, thereby demonstrating your Christian
love and hospitality. But if you do encounter a child in a pink bunny costume
it goes something like this:
"We don’t celebrate Halloween!
There’s no candy here for you, kid! Now get out of here."
Since when has there been such an intense focus on
"Halloween evangelism"? Only since Satan's agents have gained
control of the Christian establishment and managed to convince Christians that they
must partake of an occult ritual (trick or
treat) in order to "reach the
lost."
The author's caricature of
a "mean Christian" snarling, "There's no candy here for you, kid!
Now get out of here!" is not true, and sounds like something an occultist
infiltrator would say to ridicule Christians who are refusing to yoke with darkness!
At our home, we greet
trick-or-treaters with a smile and kindly tell them that we are Christians and
as such, do not celebrate Halloween. The children have always taken this well. This writer is doing his best to vilify the
sanctified Christian who abstains
from the appearance of evil so he may partake of God's promise to sanctify him
wholly so that his whole spirit and soul and body will be preserved blameless
unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (See 1 Thess. 5:22-23).
Freeman wrote:
And the parents of the pink bunny
waiting at the foot of your sidewalk say, "Boy, honey. There’s something
really different about that mean family that sits in the dark every
Halloween. I really want what they have in their life."
Freeman's article is mocking the Christian who walks
in the light and thus refuses to have fellowship with the works of darkness. Now that
the author has tried his best to ridicule the non-compromising Christian, he
next proceeds to give examples of how a Christian may remove his armor and open
doors for Satan's fiery darts.
Freeman wrote:
Imagine the shock when an Angel instead of
a devil greets the nice lady down the block. A child who says
"please", "thank you" and yes, even "Jesus loves
you" and "God bless you" as they receive their mini-Snickers or
Candy corn. And please, please, please you well-meaning brethren: give the
kids that come to your door the best candy treat on the entire block along
with that tract. Some of you give six years olds a little "be warm and
filled" treatment every Halloween. Give them something sweet for the
palate as well as the soul.
This writer is doing
his level best to deceive the Christian parent into thinking he
should permit his children to participate in the Halloween trick
or treat ritual! Don't fall for it. Christians must not
participate in the Halloween ritual in any way—no giving or
receiving "treats." 1 Peter 5:8 warns, "Be
sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
Satan seeks whom he may
(whom
he has been given permission) devour. God does not permit him to devour
Christians at will. He must have permission. When a Christian fellowships with
Satan by participating in Satan's celebration, God will give him
permission to devour him. Do not allow this CBN writer to deceive you:
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man
soweth, that shall he also reap." Gal. 6:7
You will give the
devil permission to harm you spiritually if you participate in the trick-or-treat ritual for
any reason. Ephesians 4:27 warns: "Neither give place to
the devil."
Freeman wrote:
Never forget: Jesus came to
serve the sick and broken. He loved being at the well, by the
sea, and in the marketplace. He would never have said "run
and hide, its Halloween!"
The writer implied that Jesus, the sinless Son
of God, would have participated in Halloween which is a satanic holiday. This is
blasphemy! Jesus would never hide from this evil holiday, but he would stand
against and refuse to participate in it, and He commands his followers to
do the same: "Dearly
beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts,
which war against the soul;" 1 Pet. 2:11.
Freeman wrote:
Don’t teach children to
fear Satan. Help them understand Christ has overcome the world.
He has made us victors in Him. He loves all of His creation.
This writer is using the same
tactics that "Christians" who mark themselves with
satanic avatars use on discussion forums. Obeying the Lord Jesus
Christ is not fearing Satan. It is properly fearing God who has
the ability to "... to destroy both soul and body in
hell."—Matthew 10:28 Not only does God judge the righteous,
He is angry with the wicked every day. He is against all of
Satan's evil devices--including Halloween. The author is trying to
cause you to think that celebrating Halloween is a good work!
Freeman wrote:
Remember what He said:
" You are the light
of the world – like a city on a mountain, glowing in the
night for all to see. Don’t hide your light under a basket
(or in a dark house, or at a harvest party with church
kids)! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to
see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly
Father". Matthew 5:14-16
Jesus wants us to engage our
neighbors and culture not hide from them this October 31st.
Anytime a
Christian engages his culture it must be for the purpose of
advancing the kingdom of God, not compromising by celebrating
Satan's most evil day.
Sinning against God by celebrating Satan's special day is not
letting our light shine. It is handing ourselves over to Satan so
we will become spiritual casualties. This is exactly what Satan's
agents, working from within the church, are striving for.
CBN is definitely promoting
Satan's agenda via this guest columnist. Their
disclaimer,
which is supposed to shield them from scrutiny when guest writers
promote Satan in too blatant a manner, in no way absolves CBN from
responsibility in the sight of God.
Their (deleted) disclaimer is intended to
cause you to believe that real Christians can have disparate
(fundamentally different) views about Halloween. The idea that some
Christians promote Halloween and some abstain from it furthers a relativistic, apostasy mindset. Christians that participate in
Satan's special evil day will eventually fall away from the true Christian
faith, and come under the God-sent delusion if they refuse to
repent. If
they think the celebration of Satan can be yoked with the worship
of God, they will one day believe that Antichrist is God!
The CBN editor wants you to
prayerfully decide what is best for you and your family. We do not
need to "prayerfully decide whether or not you should partake of
the devil's festivities.
The Bible is clear about God's will concerning the things of
darkness. We are not to have fellowship with them, and we are to
reprove them:: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Ephesians 5:11
May God help us to stand in this
evil day of multi-million dollar ministries that promote Satan in
the name of Jesus Christ.
