No Greater Joy's Good and Evil Book: Occult Markings

Pearl's Luciferian Message: the Serpent Told the Truth and God Told a Lie

Michael Pearl inserted some remarks into his Good and Evil book that send the message that what the serpent said was true and what God said was a lie.

First we will compare what the King James Bible says compared to What Good and Evil says and then we will examine the remarks Michael Pearl made up and attributed to Adam and Eve that make God out to be a liar.

The King James Bible says:

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis 2:16,17)

Good and Evil says:

You may eat of all the trees in the garden, but do not eat from this one tree in the midst of the garden for in the day you eat you will die.

(Good and Evil by Michael Pearl, page 4)

The King James Bible says:

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.  (Gen. 3:4, 5)

Good and Evil says:

serpent: Ha! You will not die. You will be like the gods when you eat. You will be enlightened as we are and you will know all about good and evil.

(Good and Evil by Michael Pearl, page 5; emphasis added)

King James Bible:

(Note: There are no words recorded in the Bible that Adam and Eve spoke after they sinned until they answered God's questions when he called to them in the garden.)

Good and Evil's invented dialogue:

Eve: See, I didn't die. Eat, and it will make you wise also.

(Good and Evil by Michael Pearl, page 5)

(Luciferian message: the serpent told us the truth. We did not die.)

Good and Evil's invented dialogue:

Adam: He didn't kill us! We're still alive!

(Good and Evil by Michael Pearl, page 8)

(Luciferian message: The serpent, who said, "You shall not surely die," was right. God, who said, "Thou shalt surely die" was wrong.)

Good and Evil's invented dialogue:

Eve: He killed the animals instead of us!

(Good and Evil by Michael Pearl, page 8)

(Unbiblical message: God did not keep his word to Adam and Eve. He decided to kill animals instead of physically killing Adam and Eve.)

IMPORTANT: Genesis 3:8 makes it clear that God was referring to spiritual death (spiritual separation from God) when he said, "for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:8)

Michael Pearl's fabricated dialogue—"See, I didn't die"; "He didn't kill us! We're still alive!"—gives the impression the word, 'death' in Genesis 2:16 and 17 refers to physical death. God's promise of death did not refer to immediate physical death. Rather, it meant immediate spiritual death which would culminate in physical death.

Michael Pearl's switching of the meaning of death from spiritual death to immediate physical death allowed him to switch the liars too. Instead of the serpent being the liar, God is made out to be the liar--because Adam and Eve did not immediately physically die.

Additional Comments

Good and Evil's invented dialogue:

serpent: Ha, ha, ha, he will kill you now! Look what he did to me!

(Good and Evil by Michael Pearl, page 6)

(This is biblically incorrect. The serpent had not yet been cursed by God.)

Good and Evil's narrative and dialogue of Bible characters includes MANY interpretive and theological remarks rather than the straightforward retelling of the Bible story. Below is one example:

Adam and Eve didn't die that day, because innocent animals died in their places. But the death sentence had passed upon them, and eventually they too would die. Death is the penalty for sin.
