Ouija
boards are also known as witch boards or talking boards.
The purpose of the ouija board is to conjure demons in order to obtain information. When one
asks the board a question, one is really asking a devil a question and is
giving that devil permission to come into his or her life.
What do you do if you have used a ouija
board in the past? Any Christian who ever has used a ouija board or any type
of divination or occult device needs to (1) ask God's forgiveness, (2)
renounce the particular works of darkness by name (3) and tell the devils
that entered via this sin to leave in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Also pray to close the "place" that you opened to the devils via the sin of
using the ouija board, etc.
My Response to a Messageboard Post about Ouija Boards
Someone posted this letter to a messageboard:
I am just amazed at reading the experiences that
others have had with this "game". More proof that the enemy is real.
I know someone who came to the Lord because they were into witchcraft heavily.
One evening she was taken with some friends to a meeting and they were trying
to conjure up demons. When they did, and it freaked her OUT! She got saved
because she said, "If THEY are real, then I know the OTHER side is real
too." She did NOT want to be on the other side, so she gave her life to
Christ. Sadly though, she has backslidden, and is now doing psychic readings
and is a practicing lesbian. It is very sad. But I remember her testimony
about how she got saved.
My response:
It is sad that she was drawn back in to the occult.
I've seen this happen too often and it is usually because the person has not
gotten clear from evil spirits due to their past occult involvement.
I don't know anyone who has been involved in the occult that has not received
demons into their lives because of it. The whole point of being in the occult or engaging in
witchcraft/occult
activities is to interact with demons. Is it any wonder these demons who were
invited into the person's life hang around and hope they will be able to get an
advantage somehow?
Christians must renounce out loud every occult activity, every occult book read,
occult game played, occult movie viewed, etc. they can recall from before they
were saved (or as the case may be, even after they were saved) Ask the Lord to
help you remember, and I know he will take care of any that you do not remember.
You are doing this to repent and clear the way for the Lord to force these
spirits to leave your life forever. By renouncing these activities, you are
removing every right these evil spirits have to stay in your life and do harm in
their hidden, malevolent way.
I used the ouija board once or twice as a teen and you can believe the demons
took it seriously even if I didn't. Christians must RENOUNCE the hidden things
of dishonesty (See 2 Cor.
4:2) after they are saved. This step of renouncing is important to remove any
basis for the evil spirits to be able to remain. . . hoping for to gain a
foothold.
After the Christian has renounced all these things that have to do with Satan,
he must tell the spirits he had fellowship with in the past to leave in the name
of Jesus Christ. This is important. This does not happen automatically, just
because we have asked Jesus to save us. We have to appropriate the authority
Jesus has given us over all the power of the enemy and cleanse ourselves of all
filthiness of flesh and spirit. See: Luke 10:19, 2 Cor. 7:1)
No names of spirits (unless you already know the name and in that case you
should use it) are needed. The Lord knows who they are, and because of your
obedience in renouncing the occult sins, and asking his forgiveness, he will
force them to leave by the power of the Holy Spirit when you command them to
leave in Jesus' name.
Remember, your authority "over all the power of the enemy" is
conditional upon your refusal to fellowship with them in any form and also by
your obedience in "casting off the works of darkness."
It's important to be repentant and committed to not engage in any more occult
activities, because if you go back to the sin, they have the right to come back
into your life and "the last state of that man is worse than the
first." Luke 11:26
