Charles Spurgeon's Occult Energy Doctrines: Life
Force/Life-Force
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892), regarded by many as
the greatest preacher of the nineteenth century, sometimes
replaced God, the healing power of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit with
life force.
What is life force?
Witches, Luciferians/Theosophists, New Agers, etc. regard life force as "the
Universal Energy that gives life to all things."(1) They
believe and teach that life force gives life.
Christians believe and teach according to Scripture, not occult doctrine.
The Word (the Lord Jesus Christ) is the
creator. Life is in him, not life force energy:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and
without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the
life was the light of men. (John 1:1-4)
The Holy Bible says God "made the world and all things therein," and that "in
him we live, and move, and have our being." (Acts 17:24, 28)
Those who believe the Bible know that
God–not life force–created all things:
"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:" (Col.
1:16)
Life Force Energy Used in Magick
Life Force Energy is also the power used in magick
(2)
"Magick is simply the act of directing Life Force
Energy through the power of Will to effect change in the manifested Cosmos."
(3)
Some names for life force energy are:
Universal Life Force, vital force, healing force, elemental energy, Aka, Prana, Chi/Qi/Ki, psychic
healing, biofield, Kundalini, Spirit Energy, Mana, divine energy, Orgone, animal
magnetism, paraelectricity
All supernatural power comes from the God of the Bible, or from Satan's
kingdom. There is no other source of supernatural power. The power of life force energy is demons,
although this fact is almost never stated plainly by those who teach about it
and use it. The demons are alive (life) and they have the ability to do work by
supernatural means (force) but they do not give life. Even while they masquerade as angels of light, they, like their
master, Satan, come to
kill, steal and destroy.
Satan has always wanted to be "like the Most High" (Isaiah 14:14) so it should
not surprise us that he wants people to think that God does not give life and
that the source of life is actually Energy of the Universal life-force kind.
Interestingly, this energy (although many occult sources obscure this fact) is
personal and wants to have a relationship with whoever will seek it.
Satan's life force/vital force energy doctrine, which goes by many different names and is
found in witchcraft, world religions and pseudo-Christian cults, it is meant to
replace the God of the Bible as the source of life, wisdom, power, healing, and
eternal life.
It is most revealing that Charles Spurgeon often replaced the ministry of the
Holy Spirit with the energy of occultists: life force.

Spurgeon's Preaching With Life-Force/Life Force
Christ pours his Life-Force into Christians The Bible:
The gift of the Holy Ghost was poured out. "And they of the circumcision which
believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the
Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 10:45 Spurgeon preached
that Christ poured his life-force into Christians in order to make them grow and
bear fruit:
"As Christ pours his life-force into us,
He makes us grow, to the praise of the glory of His
grace. Fruit-bearing is the ultimate end of our union to Christ. We are one."
(4)
A "Christ"
who pours life force energy into his followers is the anti-Christ of the New Age/One world
church.
God placed Life-Force into Christians
The Bible: God has given unto us
his Holy Spirit: He therefore
that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his
holy Spirit.
(1 Thess. 4:8)
Spurgeon preached that God placed life-force within you,
which cannot be exhausted:
"There is a living well within you springing
up,
use the bucket, then, keep on drawing, you will never exhaust it, there is a
living source within.
Continue to struggle, you will not exhaust the life-force
which God has placed within you."

To Find Truth May Be a Life-Force to Us
The Bible says: To find the truth is eternal life: (Jesus
said) "I am the way, the truth and the life: No man cometh unto the Father,
except by me." (John 14:6)
Spurgeon:
to find truth and believe it may be a
life-force to us:"Since we aspire to honorable and useful lives, we seek a positive force
which will bear us onward and upward. Those who prefer to do so may doubt,
and doubt, and doubt to the dregs of nothing, but our choice is
to
find truth and believe it, that it may be a life-force to us."
(6)
Life-Force Sustains Tree's Trunk and Branches
The Bible says by him [Jesus Christ] all things consist.
[are supported and maintained.] (Colossians 1:17)
Spurgeon preached
that life-force proceeds from the root by which it nourishes and sustains a
tree's trunk and branches:
"The root, again,
is not only that which is vital to
the tree, it is from the root that the life-force
proceeds
by which the trunk and the branches are nourished
and sustained. There is hope for a tree, after
it
is cut down, that it shall sprout again at the scent
of water."
(7)
Spurgeon Weakened by a Waste of Life-Force
The Bible says: "And a great multitude followed him
[Jesus], because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were
diseased." (John 6:2) People were restored to health because Jesus
healed them -- not because he increased their life-force.
Spurgeon: In reference to the weakening of his physical strength, said, "A
great waste of life-force still weakens me." Here he plainly revealed that
he attributed his physical decline to the loss of life force:
"I am far away in body, but not in spirit. I am a sick man
physically, but in heart I am strong in the Lord. A great waste of
life-force still weakens me, but it is not so great as it was, and
HE who has spared my life will in his own right time spare me this weakening
of my strength by the way. It is a great trial to be unable to preach in the
pulpit, but it is no small comfort to be able to preach through the press."
(8)
God Puts Life Force into Tiny Creatures
The Bible: "And he is before all things, and by him
all things consist." (Colossians 1:17) By Jesus Christ, not life force, all
things consist.
Spurgeon: God puts life force
into each part of the organization of micropscopic creatures so it can
exist, grow, mature and enjoy life and transmit it (life force) to its
successor.
"For each of these infusorial creatures, so small as only
to be observed beneath a strong microscope, God finds fitting food
and puts life-force into each part of its organization so that it
can exist, and grow, and mature, and enjoy life, and transmit it to its
successor."
(9)
Life Force Causes a Man to Turn to God
The Bible: The Holy Spirit causes us to
love God: " "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed
abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." (Romans 5:5)
Spurgeon preached: A life force is
communicated unto a man which will cause him to forsake his sin and turn
unto the Lord:
"But go and proclaim the dying love of Jesus; tell them
that free grace reigns, and that undeserved mercy saves the sinner through
faith in Christ, and that the moment he believes in Jesus there is no
condemnation to him, and you shall see miracles accomplished. In the
experience of free grace you have something to work upon, you have put a new
affection into the man, and it will drive out his base affections. A
life force is communicated to him, which will cause him to forsake his old
ways and turn unto the Lord." (10)
God Put the Life-Force into the Saints
The Bible: the Holy Spirit sanctifies the saint:
"But we are bound to
give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God
hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of
the Spirit and belief of the truth."
(2
Thess. 2:13)
Spurgeon:
God puts "the life-force" within the saint to make him think on heavenly
things:
" In the next place,
we know why we are going.
We are going to Canaan because God has called us
to
go; He gives us strength to go, and
puts the life-force
within us that makes us tend upward towards the
eternal dwelling place,
the happy harbor of the saints!"
(11)
Lack of Comfort Mars the Life-Force
The Bible: "Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so
fulfil the law of Christ."
(Galatians 6:2) Preventing the marring of life-force is not hinted at
anywhere in Scripture.
Spurgeon:
that if we are not comforted when faced
troubles it will grievously affect the heart and "mar the entire life-force
of our being":
"However your house may be troubled, however your bodily
frame may be troubled, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God,
believe also in me.”Faith upholds the heart and enables the
man
to
bear up under pressure, faith, I say and nothing else. I am sure, dear
friends, you will
clearly see the
need that we should be comforted, because
the lack of comfort will
grievously affect the action
of the
heart and mar
the entire life-force
of our being."
(12)
The Sun Has Life Force
The Bible: "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the
lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also." (Genesis 1:16)
Spurgeon: the sun has life force:
"We have had dealings with God, personal dealings with Him, as when the sun,
though it is ninety-five millions of miles away, has commerce with the
earth, and the bulbs that sleep beneath the black mold begin to swell and
grow and, by-and-by, the yellow cup is held up to be filled with the light
of the sun! There must be a sun, we know, because of all its warmth
and genial glow, and the life force with which it charms the earth into the
revival of spring."
(13)
Prana is another name for life force. From Sanskrit
(occult) doctrine: "There
are basically three major sources of Prana: the Sun, the Air and the Ground.
It is believed that prana comes from the energy and “light” of the sun and
connects all the elements in the known universe."
(14)
Where God is, There is Life-Force
The Bible: "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the
everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth
not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding. Isaiah
40:28; "For with God nothing shall be impossible." (Luke 1:37)
Spurgeon: that force and energy are with the Lord
and that many bodies of Christians need this force. Where God is, there is
life-force:
"Force and energy are with the Lord. I fear that what many bodies of
Christian people need is this force. Examine yonder religious body, it is
huge, but it lacks muscle. It is a fine-looking organization, but soul,
sinew, backbone are lacking. Where God is, there is sure to be life-force. When the Spirit
of God descended upon the first saints,
they began to speak with wondrous
power. And though they were persecuted,
they were not subdued.
No bit could be put into their mouths
to hold them in, for they went everywhere
preaching the word. Of the true Israel it shall be said—“His
strength is as the strength of the buffalo:
it cannot be controlled or conquered.”
(15)
Christians need the filling of the Holy Spirit, not
Satan's "life-force," which Spurgeon uses to replace the Holy Spirit in some of these
citations.
The "Great Life-Force" is in The Christian
The Bible: "Know ye
not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in
you?" (1 Cor. 3:16)
Spurgeon preached,
in the passage below, that the great life-force, is
within the Christian:
"As
to the re generate,
being men of a distinct
race of beings, as much above man
naturally, as man is above the brute
beasts, that carnal men would
scorn to acknowledge. They cannot make
this out. How can they? It is a
spring shut up; it is a fountain
sealed. No, and the Christian himself,
though he feels the throbbing of the great life-force
within, though he
feels the perpetual bubbling up of
the ever-living fountain, yet he does
not know what it is! It is a mystery
to him."
(16)
This is blasphemy!
The Holy Spirit is within the Christian, not demons that pose as
"life-force"!
Spurgeon has "the great life-force," throbbing within the Christian.
The Great Life Force is the title for the Christ of Gnosticism, Buddha, Infinite
Light in Kabbalah, and other occult religions.
Christians Work by the Power of Life-Force
The Bible: "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." Phil. 2:13
Spurgeon:
the Christian works for the Lord by the power of life-force
(energy), which must not be wasted:
"You see there is fire, and there is light; but something extraneous and
mischievous is at work, and it needs to be removed. If this is your case,
you may well desire the Lord to snuff you, however painful the operation may
be. Depend upon it, we have no life-force to spare, and
everything which lessens our consecrated energy is a robbery of God."
(17)
More blasphemy!
God works in the Christian, not devils operating under the guise of "life
force" that pretend to spiritually illuminate, heal, and more by the
"goodness" of their hearts.
Life-Forces Depleted Due to Exhaustion
The Bible says nothing about life-force.
Spurgeon illustrated the occult belief of life-force energy
being depleted due to physical exertion.
"Ministers are servants: they are not guests, but waiters; not
landlords, but labourers. The word has been rendered "under-rowers", men who
tug at the oars on the lowest bench. It was hard work to row a galley;
those rapid strokes consumed the life-forces of the slaves."
(18)
Not Enough Life-Force to Serve Two Masters
The Bible is devoid of life-force doctrines but Jesus did
say, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and
love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye
cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24
Spurgeon:
The Christian must be wholehearted in serving the Lord because he does not
have enough life-force for two objects:
"It is the duty of a steward to be devoted to the interests of his master;
and if he forgets this for any other object, however laudable that object
may be, he is not faithful. We cannot afford to let our lives run in two
channels; we have not enough life-force for two objects. We
need to be whole-hearted."
