In this analysis we will compare the New International Version (NIV) (1992 edition) to the King James Bible (KJ). K J V S. N I V Gen. 2:7 KJ: "... and man became a living SOUL." NIV: "... and the man became a living being." Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". Gen. 2:13 KJ: "... land of ETHIOPIA." NIV: "... land of Cush." Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush? Question: Is the NIV's 'Cush' "simpler and more understandable" than the King James' "ETHIOPIA"? Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." -------- NIV: "'You will not surely die,' the serpent said to the woman. 'For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" -------- COMMENT: This is MAJOR BLASPHEMY! God (with a big G) is not evil! Think about the difference between "as gods" and 'like God'. Gen. 6:8 KJ: "But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord." NIV: "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." COMMENT: God's GRACE was extended in the Old Testament, too. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Noah's ark. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/noahsark.htm There are people today that are looking for the ark on Mount Ararat. But, check your King James Bible. In Genesis 8:4 it says "the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the MOUNTAINS (PLURAL) of Ararat". The amateur archeologist found the remains of Noah's ark 12 miles from Mt. Ararat within the MOUNTAINS of Ararat. The discovered ark is 1 inch off, that's right 1 inch off, from 300 cubits (Gen. 6:15) in length. Gen. 24:47 KJ: "... and I put the EARRING UPON HER FACE, ..." NIV: "... Then I put the ring in her nose ..." COMMENT: The NIV put WHAT in her nose? Gen. 49:10 KJ: "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, ... until SHILOH come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be]." NIV: "... until he comes, to whom it belongs ..." COMMENT: "SHILOH" refers to CHRIST as Peace Maker. The NIV robs him of his Messianic rule. Joshua 12:23 KJ: "... the king of the NATIONS of Gilgal, ..." NIV: "... the king of Goyim in Gilgal ..." COMMENT: Is the NIV's 'Goyim' a "simpler and more easily understandable word" than the King James' "NATIONS"? Judges 7:20 KJ: "... The sword OF the LORD, and OF Gideon." NIV: "... 'A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!'" Comment: Notice: "OF" was changed to "FOR". Big difference in those two meanings. 2Sam. 16:4 KJ: "... And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH thee [that] I may find GRACE in thy sight, my lord, O king." NIV: "... 'I humbly bow', Ziba said. 'May I find favor in your eyes, my lord the king.'" 2Sam. 21:19 KJ: "... Elhanan ... slew [THE BROTHER OF] Goliath ..." NIV: "... ELHANAN ... killed Goliath ..." COMMENT: Elhanan killed Goliath? WHAT? Sunday school CHILDREN know DAVID slew Goliath! The NIV 'scholars' blew this one! Oh, BTW, for a good book on the quality of the King James translators see: "The Men Behind The KJV" by: Gustavus S. Paine ISBN: 0-8010-7008-2 published by Baker Book House. Scholar for scholar the translators of the King James Bible were FAR GREATER men of God than any today. John Bois could read Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was fluent in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well as you and I know English etc. etc. 1Kings 14:24 KJ: "And there were also SODOMITES in the land: ..." NIV: "There were even male shrine prostitutes in the land; ..." COMMENT: SODOMITES and prostitutes are NOT THE SAME. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev. 18:22) but the NIV has removed sodomy. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/cities-of-the-plain.htm 1Kings 15:12 KJ: "And he took away the SODOMITES out of the land, ..." NIV: "He expelled the male shrine prostitutes from the land ..." COMMENT: Again, the NIV changes SODOMITES to 'male shrine prostitutes'. Sodomy is gone, in the NIV, here in 1Kings 15:12, AND in 1Kings 14:24, AND in 1Kings 22:46 AND in 2Kings 23:7. 1Kings 20:38 KJ: "... with ASHES upon his FACE." NIV: "... with his headband down over his eyes." COMMENT: In English, "ASHES" and 'headband' are two different words entirely, so are "FACE" and 'eyes'. Ezra 8:36 KJ: "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's LIEUTENANTS, ..." NIV: "They also delivered the king's orders to the royal satraps ..." COMMENT: Is the NIV's 'satraps' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "LIEUTENANTS"? Psalm 9:17 KJ: "The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, ..." NIV: "The wicked return to the grave, ..." COMMENT: The NIV has DELETED hell. Is this an attempt to sell more NIVs? Also, how is it that the 'wicked RETURN to the grave' when they have never been there before? Psalm 109:6 KJ: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let SATAN stand at his right hand." NIV: "Appoint an evil man to oppose him; let an accuser stand at his right hand." COMMENT: Satan has been REMOVED in this verse in the NIV. Prov. 23:14 KJ: "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt DELIVER HIS SOUL FROM HELL." NIV: "Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death." COMMENT: What is the NIV talking about? If you punish children they will STILL EVENTUALLY DIE! All people will die. Hello? Only the King James got it right. Beat him with the rod, and you shall DELIVER HIS SOUL FROM HELL. Eccl. 5:20 KJ: "... God ANSWERETH [HIM] in the joy of his heart." NIV: "... God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart." COMMENT: The NIV translators blew this one. Isaiah 11:3 KJ: "And shall make him of quick understanding ..." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: This verse is about the Lord Jesus and says he shall be "of quick understanding". The NIV omits this. Isaiah 32:2 KJ: "And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from the wind, ..." NIV: "EACH MAN will be like a shelter from the wind ..." COMMENT: "A MAN" here can be no one but CHRIST. Just another case of setting the Lord Jesus aside, and giving us a substitute. Think how serious all these corruptions are, and how they destroy the word of God by substitution. Isaiah 53:10 KJ: "... when thou shalt make his soul an offering for SIN, ..." NIV: "... the Lord makes his life a guilt offering, ..." COMMENT: This, in our humble opinion, is a very serious perversion. Daniel 3:25 KJ: "... and the form of the fourth is like THE SON OF GOD." ( i.e. Jesus Christ ). NIV: "... and the fourth looks like a son of the gods." COMMENT: 'A son of the gods'? It was Jesus Christ, the only begotten SON OF GOD, who was with Shadrach, Messach and Abednego. Jesus protected them from the fiery furnace; and it's Jesus who saves you and me from the fiery furnace (i.e. hell). Hosea 11:12 KJ: "... but Judah YET RULETH WITH GOD, AND IS FAITHFUL WITH THE SAINTS." NIV: "... And Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One." COMMENT: The NIV has twisted this verse until it is exactly backwards! Hosea 13:9 KJ: "O Israel, THOU HAST DESTROYED THYSELF; but in me [is] thine help." NIV: "You are destroyed, O Israel, because you are against me, against your helper." COMMENT: Those verses are NOT the same. Micah 5:2 KJ: "... Bethlehem ... out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose GOINGS FORTH have been from of old, from everlasting." NIV: "... whose ORIGINS are from of old, ..." COMMENT: The NIV makes the Lord Jesus a CREATED BEING having AN ORIGIN. How can a child of God stand before an audience and read from such a book? Zech. 11:17 KJ: "Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the flock! ..." NIV: "Woe to the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! ..." Comment: "IDOL" and 'worthless' are very different. Matt. 1:19 KJ: "Then Joseph ... not willing to make her (Mary) a publick example, was minded TO PUT HER AWAY privily." NIV: "... Joseph ... had in mind to divorce her quietly." COMMENT: Think on this. What a difference. The meaning is far-reaching and a lot is involved. Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where Christ should be born." NIV: "... he asked them where the Christ was to be born." COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY with him) did NOT 'ask' where Christ should be born; he DEMANDED to know! Matt. 5:22 KJ: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in danger of the judgment: ..." NIV: "But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment ..." COMMENT: What? The NIV says you can't be angry with your brother?!!! Brothers and sisters: The Apostle Paul was ANGRY and withstood the Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus was ANGRY with the Church at Pergamos because of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes (Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but SIN NOT (Eph. 4:26). The Bible says not to let the sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26). The King James is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE ... is in danger of the judgment. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between those two verses. Matt. 6:13 KJ: "... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen." NIV: Omitted Matt. 8:19 KJ: "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, MASTER, I will follow thee ..." NIV: "Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, 'Teacher, I will follow you ...'" COMMENT: Jesus AS "MASTER" is watered down to just 'teacher'. Matt. 9:13 KJ: "... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners TO REPENTANCE." NIV: "... For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." COMMENT: Called to WHAT? The NIV doesn't say. The last 2 words of this verse are critical! In the end, HELL gets all the sinners who don't repent. JESUS gets all the sinners who do repent. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in those two eternal outcomes. And, there is a BIG DIFFERENCE in these two verses. Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..." NIV: "And you, Capernaum ... will go down to the depths ..." COMMENT: Hell is GONE in this verse in the NIV. Matt. 12:32 KJ: "... but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in THIS WORLD, neither in THE [WORLD] TO COME." NIV: "... but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." Matt. 12:40 KJ: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the WHALE'S belly; ..." NIV: "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ knew the difference between a "WHALE" and a 'fish'. Matt. 13:39 KJ: "... the harvest is the END OF THE WORLD; ..." NIV: "... The harvest is the end of the age, ..." COMMENT: The harvest comes at the END OF THE WORLD. Matt. 16:18 KJ: "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the GATES OF HELL shall not prevail against it." NIV: "... on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." COMMENT: Hell is GONE (again) in the NIV. Matt. 17:21 KJ: "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by PRAYER and FASTING." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: To cast out certain devils requires PRAYER and FASTING. The NIV ignores this. Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man IS COME TO SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: Jesus' ENTIRE PURPOSE for coming to earth, IS OMITTED in the NIV. Matt. 19:9 KJ: "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY." NIV: "I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." COMMENT: An IMPORTANT verse about marriage, yet the NIV deletes about one third of it. Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..." NIV: "Why do you ask me about what is good? ..." Matt. 20:20 KJ: "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, WORSHIPPING [him], ..." NIV: "Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, ..." COMMENT: Kneeling down is not close to TRUE WORSHIP. Matt. 23:14 KJ: "WOE UNTO YOU, SCRIBES AND PHARISEES, HYPOCRITES! FOR YE DEVOUR WIDOWS' HOUSES, AND FOR A PRETENCE MAKE LONG PRAYER: THEREFORE YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GREATER DAMNATION." NIV: Omitted Matt. 24:3 KJ: "... Tell us, .. of the END OF THE WORLD ..." NIV: "... Tell us .. of the end of the age ..." COMMENT: Jesus isn't being asked about a "new time period", or a "new dispensation". He is being asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END. There is a difference. Matt. 25:13 KJ: "... ye know neither the day nor the hour WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH." NIV: "... you do not know the day or the hour." COMMENT: Who is coming again? That's right: JESUS! But, you wouldn't know it from the NIV. Matt. 27:4 KJ: "... I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD ..." NIV: "I have sinned ... I have betrayed innocent blood." COMMENT: Lots of people are innocent of certain crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST was "THE" INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it. Matt. 27:27 KJ: "Then the soldiers ... took Jesus into the COMMON HALL, ..." NIV: "... the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium ..." COMMENT: Is the NIV's 'Praetorium' "simpler and more easily understood", than the King James's COMMON HALL? Mark 1:2 KJ: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, ... " NIV: "It is written in Isaiah the prophet: ..." COMMENT: The scripture quoted in Mark 1:2 DID NOT come from Isaiah as stated in the NIV (and in other quote 'modern' versions). The scripture is from Malachi 3:1! Check it out. Mark 1:15 KJ: "... the kingdom of God is at hand: REPENT ye, and believe THE GOSPEL." NIV: "... The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" COMMENT: Many things are generic 'good news'. My daughter's birth was good news, BUT IT DIDN'T SAVE ANYONE! The correct commandment is to believe THE GOSPEL. Mark 3:5 KJ: "... and his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE OTHER." NIV: "... and his hand was completely restored." Mark 6:11 KJ: "... shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY." NIV: "... shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them." COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the NIV leaves out about half of it. Mark 6:51 KJ: "...and they were SORE AMAZED IN THEMSELVES BEYOND MEASURE, AND WONDERED." NIV: "... They were completely amazed," Mark 7:16 KJ: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 14, 15 and then 17 is not new math! Note: The NIV OMITS Jesus' COMMAND TO HEAR HIM. Mark 9:44 KJ: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." NIV: Omitted Mark 9:46 KJ: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." NIV: Omitted Mark 10:24 KJ: "... Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!" NIV: "... Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!" COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King James Bible, is: TRUSTING IN RICHES. Mark 11:10 KJ: "... Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST." NIV: "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!" Mark 11:26 KJ: "BUT IF YE DO NOT FORGIVE, NEITHER WILL YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN FORGIVE YOUR TRESPASSES." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: A HUGE WARNING. Yet, Mark 11:26 is omitted in the NIV. Mark 13:6 KJ: "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." NIV: "Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' ..." COMMENT: 'He' could be ANYBODY. Yours truly is a 'he', but I am not CHRIST. Mark 15:28 KJ: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS." NIV: Omitted Mark 16:9-20 KJ: (All verses of Mark 16:9-20 are included) NIV: Mark 16:9-20 gives the footnote, "The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20." COMMENT: In John Burgeon's book, "The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark", he wrote 400+ pages proving conclusively this section was in the original manuscripts. Burgeon's book remains unanswered and is unanswerable. Mark 16:15 KJ: "... Go ye into all the world, and preach THE GOSPEL ..." NIV: "... Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." COMMENT: A lot of items in the news are generic 'good news', but Jesus said SPECIFICALLY to preach THE GOSPEL. Luke 2:33 KJ: "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." NIV: "The child's FATHER and mother marvelled at what was said about him" [i.e. of Jesus]. COMMENT: What? GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST -NOT JOSEPH! If Jesus had only an earthly father and mother, then he is just any man. If he is just any man, then we are still in our sins. If we are still in our sins, then we are not saved! If we are not saved, then we have a BIG, BIG, problem! Luke 2:49 KJ: "... I must be about my Father's BUSINESS ..." NIV: "... I had to be in my Father's house." COMMENT: Come on! Don't the "scholars" know the difference between BUSINESS and a house? Luke 4:4 KJ: "... man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD." NIV: "... Man does not live on bread alone". COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need? The NIV doesn't say. Only the King James tells us: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD! Luke 4:8 KJ: "And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." NIV: Luke 4:8 omits entirely, "Get thee behind me, Satan." Luke 4:18 KJ: "The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," NIV: Luke 4:18 omits entirely, "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,". Luke 9:55-56 KJ: "But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they went to another village." NIV: "But Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they went to another village." Comment: Notice that the NIV totally omits: YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. Luke 11:2-4 KJ: "... OUR Father WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL. NIV: "... Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation." COMMENT: NIV leaves out: "OUR", and "... WHICH ART IN HEAVEN ..." (thus we don't know which Father we are praying to), "and THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH" (so do we want our will to be done, and not God's?), and also "... BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL ..." (do we want to get tangled up in evil?). Why is all this omitted in the NIV? Luke 11:29 KJ: "... but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET." NIV: "... except the sign of Jonah." Luke 17:36 KJ: "Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." NIV: Omitted Luke 21:8 KJ: "... for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." NIV: "... For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' ..." COMMENT: Again, 'he' could be ANYBODY. The anti-christ is a 'he' (1John 2:22). Luke 23:17 KJ: "(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)" NIV: Omitted Luke 23:23 KJ: "... And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF PRIESTS prevailed." NIV: "... and their shouts prevailed." Luke 23:42 KJ: "And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." NIV: Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.'" COMMENT: Why leave out "LORD"? The thief GOT SAVED, therefore he addressed Jesus AS LORD! Luke 24:46 KJ: "... and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer, ..." NIV: "... The Christ will suffer ..." COMMENT: The NIV misses a HUGE POINT: It "BEHOVED" Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY. John 1:42 KJ: "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: Thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE." NIV: "... Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas' (which, when translated, is Peter)." COMMENT: The NIV omits: Thou shall be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE. This omission is DISASTROUS. Jesus calls Peter "A STONE" to differentiate Peter from Jesus who is THE ROCK (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says: upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my Church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring to Peter! And that is one of many errors in Catholic doctrine. John 3:13 KJ: "And NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven." NIV: "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven - the Son of Man." Comment: Not true NIV. There HAVE BEEN others who have gone into heaven. Remember the angels on Jacob's ladder? They were ascending and descending. The King James has the correct reading and that is: "... NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven ..." Also, Satan went into Heaven and made accusations against Job (Job 1:6). Remember? John 3:16 KJ: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son, ..." NIV: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, ..." COMMENT: Believers in God are called his SONS and daughters. God didn't give his 'only' son. He has MANY. God gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN son. John 4:24 KJ: "God [is] A Spirit: ..." NIV: "God is spirit, ..." COMMENT: The NIV's saying: "God is spirit" infers that ALL spirits are of God. NOT TRUE. There are evil spirits. But, in God there is NO evil. So, the King James is correct: "God [is] 'A' Spirit: ...". John 5:16 KJ: "And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done these things on the sabbath day." NIV: "So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting this phrase or for brushing over the fact that the Jews wanted to MURDER Jesus. John 6:47 KJ: "... He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting life." NIV: "... he who believes has everlasting life." COMMENT: Believes WHO or WHAT? Everyone who believes DOES NOT have everlasting life: Only those who believe ON JESUS. The two words "ON ME" are CRITICAL. John 6:69 KJ: "And we believe and ARE SURE that thou art that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD." NIV: "We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God." COMMENT: What happened to CHRIST? And, what happened to him being THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD? John 7:53- 8:11 KJ: (All verses are included) and Mark 16:9-20 NIV: There is a marginal note here stating that John 7:53-8:11 is not found in most of the "reliable" manuscripts. COMMENT: THIS IS NOT TRUE. Literally hundreds of MSS contain these verses. And the early church fathers refer to them hundreds of times. The British Museum has 73 MSS and 61 have this passage. Doubtless manuscripts: Aleph and B are referred to as the "old manuscripts" but they are TWO OF THE WORST as we have noted before. John 8:9 KJ: "And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by one, ..." NIV: "At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this phrase. John 8:36 KJ: "If the Son therefore shall MAKE you free, ye shall be free indeed." NIV: "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." COMMENT: Jesus did not (passively) 'set' us free; NO, he (actively) "MADE" us free. We had to be BORN AGAIN. To fix us Jesus had to START OVER FROM SCRATCH! The NIV waters down the EFFORT behind the work Jesus did for us. John 8:59 KJ: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, AND SO PASSED BY." NIV: "At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds." COMMENT: Quite a different thought. John 9:4 KJ: "I must work the works of him that sent me, ..." NIV: "... WE must do the work of him who sent me ..." John 9:35 KJ: "... Dost thou believe on the SON OF GOD?" NIV: "... Do you believe in the Son of Man?" John 10:30 KJ: "I and MY Father are one." NIV: "I and the Father are one." COMMENT: Notice the KJ's "MY Father" is replaced by 'the' Father. Thus, the NIV deletes the PERSONAL relationship of "MY FATHER", between Jesus and the heavenly Father. John 14:16 KJ: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another COMFORTER, ..." NIV: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor ..." John 14:26 KJ: "But the COMFORTER, [which is] the Holy Ghost, ..." NIV: "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, ..." John 15:26 KJ: "But when the COMFORTER is come, ..." NIV: "When the Counselor comes, ..." John 16:7 KJ: "... for if I go not away, the COMFORTER will not come ..." NIV: "... Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come ..." Acts 2:30 KJ: "... that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit on his throne;" NIV: "... he would place one of his descendants on his throne." COMMENT: The NIV totally misses the point. It wasn't just 'a descendant' that would sit on the throne; it was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ). Acts 2:47 KJ: "... And the Lord ADDED TO THE CHURCH daily such as SHOULD BE saved." NIV: "... And the Lord added to their number daily those who were BEING SAVED." COMMENT: Salvation is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. It is NOT A PROCESS. People are either SAVED or they are NOT. They are NOT 'being' saved. Also, the Lord added to the CHURCH, not just to 'their number'. Acts 3:13 KJ: "The God of Abraham, ... hath glorified HIS SON Jesus; ..." NIV: "The God of Abraham ... has glorified his servant Jesus. ..." COMMENT: Jesus as GOD'S SON has been watered down to just a 'servant'. Acts 3:26 KJ: "... God, having raised up HIS SON Jesus, ..." NIV: When God raised up his servant, ..." COMMENT: Again, the NIV waters down Jesus as GOD'S SON to just a 'servant'. Acts 4:25 KJ: "... Why did the HEATHEN rage, and the people imagine vain things?" NIV: "... Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?" COMMENT: It wasn't 'nations' that raged; it was the HEATHEN. Acts 4:27 KJ: ".. thy HOLY CHILD Jesus, whom thou hast anointed." NIV: "... your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed." COMMENT: Again, the NIV waters down Jesus. This time GOD'S HOLY CHILD is watered down to just 'holy servant'. Acts 4:30 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus." NIV: "... your holy servant Jesus." COMMENT: One more time: The NIV waters down Jesus. GOD'S HOLY CHILD is watered down to just a 'holy servant'. Acts 8:9 KJ: "... there was a certain man, ... which ... used sorcery, and BEWITCHED THE PEOPLE ..." NIV: "... a man ... practiced sorcery ... and amazed all the people ..." COMMENT: No! No! No! The man practicing sorcery did NOT 'amaze' the people (as if the people were being ENTERTAINED). No, he BEWITCHED THEM (to their DETRIMENT). Acts 8:37 KJ: "... IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he [the eunuch] answered and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: This verse shows THE requirement for water baptism, namely: BELIEVING THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. But, both Codex Aleph and B leave this out. They are TWO OF THE WORST MSS. Here is a good example of the spiritual BATTLE that has, and still surrounds, God's word. Acts 9:5-6 KJ: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." NIV: "Who are you, Lord? Saul asked. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' he replied. 'Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.'" COMMENT: Truly the translators have emasculated these two verses. Acts 9:20 KJ: "And straightway he preached CHRIST in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God." NIV: "At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God." COMMENT: Christ is missing. Acts 10:37 KJ: "THAT WORD, [I SAY], YE KNOW, WHICH WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;" NIV: "You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached-" COMMENT: Notice how VAGUE the NIV is. It says: 'you know what has happened ...' but then doesn't say WHAT HAPPENED! The King James tells us: THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA. Acts 12:4 KJ: "... after EASTER ..." NIV: "... after the Passover." COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King so he DIDN'T regard Passover! He would have regarded Easter, though. Note: Passover is Biblical. But, do a thorough study about Easter and you will find out it is PAGAN. Acts 15:11 KJ: "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they." NIV: "... We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are." COMMENT: What happened to "CHRIST"? Acts 15:18 KJ: "KNOWN UNTO GOD ARE ALL HIS WORKS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD." NIV: "that have been known for ages." Acts 15:34 KJ: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 32, 33, and then 35 ... is NOT new math. Acts 16:31 KJ: "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." NIV: "They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household.'" COMMENT: Again, they omit CHRIST. Acts 17:22 KJ: "Then Paul stood in the midst of MAR'S HILL, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS." NIV: "Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: 'Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.'" Comment: Come on! Being 'very religious' and "TOO SUPERSTITIOUS" are entirely different! Also, is the NIV's 'Areopagus' "simpler and more understandable" than the King James' MARS' HILL? Acts 17:29 KJ: "... we ought not to think that the GODHEAD is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, ..." NIV: "... we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone- ..." COMMENT: The "GODHEAD" is watered down to just 'divine being'. Acts 18:12 KJ: "And when Gallio was the DEPUTY of Achaia, ..." NIV: "While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, ..." COMMENT: Is the NIV's 'proconsul' "a simpler and more easily understood word", than the King James' DEPUTY? Acts 20:23-24 KJ: "... the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, ..." NIV: "BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME" has been OMITTED in the NIV. COMMENT: Notice: The Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED by his circumstances! Thus, he could preach the Gospel with BOLDNESS! May we have the SAME ATTITUDE he had and may we also preach the Gospel BOLDLY! Thanks to the King James Bible for giving us insight into this man of God. Acts 21:9 KJ: "And the same man had four daughters, VIRGINS, which did prophesy." NIV: "He had four UNMARRIED daughters ..." COMMENT: What happened to the blessing of VIRGINITY? 'New versions' like the NIV do not like "virginity". Also, being a virgin and being un-married are VERY different. Think about it. Acts 23:9 KJ: "... let us not fight against God." NIV: Omitted Acts 24:7 KJ: "But the chief captain Lysias came [upon us], and with great violence took [him] away out of our hands," NIV: Omitted Acts 24:14 KJ: "But this I confess unto thee, that after the way, which THEY CALL HERESY, so worship I the God of my fathers, ..." NIV: "However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way which they call a sect. ..." COMMENT: The unbelievers who came against the Apostle Paul did NOT think Christianity was a 'sect'. No! They thought it was HERESY. Acts 28:29 KJ: "And when he said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves." NIV: Omitted Romans 1:16 KJ: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel OF CHRIST: ..." NIV: "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God ..." COMMENT: Whose gospel? The key words are: "OF CHRIST". The NIV leaves us guessing as to who gave us the gospel! Romans 1:18 KJ: "... men, who HOLD THE TRUTH in unrighteousness;" NIV: "... men who suppress the truth by their wickedness," Romans 1:25 KJ: "Who CHANGED the truth of God INTO a lie, ..." NIV: "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, ..." COMMENT: Those 2 verses are NOT the same. Romans 6:18 KJ: "Being then made free from sin, ye became the SERVANTS of righteousness." NIV: "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! Think about the difference. Romans 6:19 KJ: "... now yield your members SERVANTS to righteousness ..." NIV: "... offer the parts of your body ... in slavery to righteousness ..." COMMENT: Again, are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! There is a difference. Romans 6:22 KJ: "But now being made free from sin, and become SERVANTS to God, ..." NIV: "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, ..." COMMENT: WHAT? 'Slaves to God'? No! No! No! We are "SERVANTS" to God, as properly stated in the King James Bible. Romans 13:9 KJ: "... Thou shalt not bear false witness, ..." NIV: Omitted COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (false witnesses) go to the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). So, why leave this out? Romans 14:1 KJ: "Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to DOUBTFUL disputations." NIV: "Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ does NOT say we cannot have disputes; only that we should not have DOUBTFUL disputes. What are doubtful disputes? Whether we can 'eat all things' or only 'herbs'(Romans 14:2) or whether we 'esteem every day alike' or 'one day over another' (Romans 14:5). But, in the NIV we would NEVER DISPUTE ANYTHING including KEY DOCTRINE like Paul and Barnabus going up to Jerusalem concerning whether circumcision was necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2). The NIV would also come against both Titus 1:9 where we are to use sound doctrine to CONVINCE THE GAINSAYERS and 2Tim. 3:16 where ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable for REPROOF and for CORRECTION. Romans 15:19 KJ: "Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD; ..." NIV: "by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. ..." Romans 16:24 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen." NIV: Omitted 1Cor. 1:18 KJ: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God." NIV: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING SAVED it is the power of God." COMMENT: The NIV is teaching AGAIN that salvation is a PROCESS. NOT TRUE. It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. 1Cor. 1:21 KJ: "... it pleased God by the FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe." NIV: "... God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe." COMMENT: Contrary to what the NIV says, THE GOSPEL MESSAGE IS NOT FOOLISHNESS. 1Cor. 5:4 KJ: "In the name of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST," NIV: "When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present," COMMENT: IN BOTH CASES THE NAME "CHRIST" is omitted with no reason given. Why do the translators dislike the name "CHRIST" so much? Are these 'new version' translators really saved? 1Cor. 5:7 KJ: "... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed FOR US:" NIV: "... For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." COMMENT: If Christ is not sacrificed FOR US we cannot be saved! Those last two words are CRITICAL. 1Cor. 6:9-10 KJ: "... Be not deceived: neither fornicators, ... NOR EFFEMINATE, ... shall inherit the kingdom of God." NIV: "Nor effeminate" has been omitted in the NIV. 1Cor. 6:20 KJ: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore GLORIFY God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S." NIV: "you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." COMMENT: We are to GLORIFY God and not just 'honor' him. Also, a large section of scripture has been omitted with no reason given. 1Cor. 9:1 KJ: "... have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord? ..." NIV: "... Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? ..." 1Cor. 9:27 KJ: "But I keep ... my body, ... into subjection: lest ... I myself should be a CASTAWAY." NIV: ... I beat my body ... so that ... I myself will not be disqualified ..." COMMENT: Being a "CASTAWAY" and being 'disqualified' are VERY DIFFERENT. Think about it. 1Cor. 11:11 KJ: "... neither the woman without the man, IN THE LORD." NIV: "... nor is man independent of woman." 1Cor. 11:24 KJ: "And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, EAT: this is my body, which IS BROKEN for you: ..." NIV: "and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.'" COMMENT: The NIV misses a HUGE point: Christ's body WAS BROKEN for us. Also, the NIV does NOT tell us what to do with the bread/wafer. We are to "EAT" it (KJ). 1Cor. 15:45 KJ: "... The first man Adam was made a living SOUL ..." NIV: "... The first man Adam became a living being; ..." COMMENT: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". 1Cor. 16:22 KJ: "If any man love not the Lord JESUS CHRIST, let him be Anathema Maranatha." NIV: "If anyone does not love the Lord - a curse be on him. ... " COMMENT: Leaving out "JESUS CHRIST" leaves us guessing as to whom the NIV wants us to LOVE. 1Cor. 16:23 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with you." NIV: "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you." COMMENT: Why do they keep eliminating "Christ"? 2Cor. 2:15 KJ: "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them THAT ARE SAVED, ..." NIV: "For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are BEING SAVED ..." COMMENT: What? Again? The NIV is teaching salvation is a PROCESS. WRONG! It is an IMMEDIATE event. 2Cor. 2:17 KJ: "For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: ..." NIV: "... we do not peddle the word of God for profit. ..." COMMENT: Peddling & CORRUPTING are DIFFERENT. 'Modern versions' try and hide from the truth they are CORRUPTING the word of God. 2Cor. 5:17 KJ: "... behold, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW." NIV: "... the new has come!" 2Cor. 10:4 KJ: "(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strong holds;)" NIV: "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." 2Cor. 10:5 KJ: "Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing ..." NIV: We demolish arguments and every pretension ..." COMMENT: It's IMAGINATIONS that can sometimes BAIT US into sin. 2Cor. 11:31 KJ: "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, ..." NIV: "The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, ..." COMMENT: We ask in all sincerity, "Are the translators anxious to get rid of the name 'Christ' altogether?" Gal. 2:20 KJ: "I AM CRUCIFIED with Christ: nevertheless I LIVE; ..." NIV: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, ..." COMMENT: 'Have been crucified'? The NIV is saying their crucifixion is over! NOT TRUE. The believers crucifixion is an ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction. Also, we are NOT dead the way the NIV implies. Gal. 5:12 KJ: "I would they were even cut off which trouble you." NIV: "As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and EMASCULATE themselves!" COMMENT: WHAT? The NIV says the Apostle Paul wanted some people to be EMASCULATED? What kind of PERVERSION is the NIV teaching? Gal. 6:17 KJ: "... for I bear IN my body the marks of the LORD Jesus." NIV: "... for I bear ON my body the marks of Jesus." COMMENT: They don't seem to like the name "Lord", either. Also, the marks of the Lord Jesus are IN our body, NOT ON. We're NOT talking cattle branding here. Eph. 3:14 KJ: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST," NIV: "For this reason I kneel before the Father, ..." COMMENT: Which Father is the NIV referring to? Satan is a father (the "father" of lies). Only the KJ says which Father: It is the Father OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Eph. 5:1 KJ: "Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, ..." NIV: "Be imitators of God, ..." Comment: The NIV documents Satan's position EXACTLY. Think about it: Only Satan tries to imitate God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God. Isa. 14:14 quotes Satan saying: "... I will BE LIKE the most high." Born again believers cannot imitate God. We can't run the universe! We can only FOLLOW God. Remember, Jesus DID NOT tell his "fishers of men" to imitate him. Jesus said: "follow me ..." Eph. 5:9 KJ: "(For the fruit of the SPIRIT [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" NIV: "(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)" COMMENT: WHO/WHAT is this 'light' the NIV is referring to? Satan can be transformed into an angel of 'light' (2Co. 11:14). Also, "SPIRIT" and 'light' are NOT the same. Philip. 2:6 KJ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it NOT ROBBERY to be equal with God:" NIV: "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped," COMMENT: Those 2 verses are DIFFERENT. Philip. 3:8 KJ: "... and do count them but DUNG, that I may win Christ," NIV: "... I consider them rubbish, ..." COMMENT: I may have rubbish on the top of my office desk, but I don't want 'dung' there!!! Philip. 3:21 KJ: "Who shall change our VILE BODY, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, ..." NIV: "... will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." COMMENT: The problem is that our bodies are VILE. Our heart is desperately WICKED (Jer. 17:9). Our flesh is SINFUL (Romans 8:3). There is no good thing that DWELLS in our flesh (Romans 7:18) etc. Col. 1:14 KJ: "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:" NIV: "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." COMMENT: Why does the NIV omit "through his blood?" This omission can be traced, as usual, to the manuscripts classed as 'neutral texts' by Westcott & Hort. They are in agreement with the Vatican & Sinaitic manuscripts (two of the WORST). Remember: Without the shedding of blood there is NO REMISSION (Heb. 9:22). Col. 2:2 KJ: "... to the acknowledgement of the mystery OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;" NIV: "... that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ," COMMENT: GOD THE FATHER is omitted. Col. 2:9 KJ: "For IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY." NIV: "For in Christ all the fullness of Deity lives in bodily form," COMMENT: Notice: The NIV makes God SEPARATE from Christ. Only the King James makes Christ God, as Christ is part of the Godhead. Col. 3:2 KJ: "Set your AFFECTION on things above, ..." NIV: "Set your minds on things above, ..." COMMENT: The 'mind' can be an issue, but the BIGGER ISSUE is our AFFECTION (i.e. our HEART) as stated in the King James Bible. See also Proverbs 4:23. 1Thes. 2:19 KJ: "... in the presence of our Lord Jesus CHRIST at his coming?" NIV: "... in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? ..." 1Thes. 3:11 KJ: "Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you." NIV: "Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way ..." 1Thes. 5:22 KJ: "Abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil." NIV: "Avoid every kind of evil." COMMENT: We SHOULD AVOID every KIND of evil. But, MORE THAN THAT, we are to abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil. The King James Bible is MORE COMPREHENSIVE. 1Tim. 1:1 KJ: "... and LORD Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;" NIV: "... and of Christ Jesus our hope," 1Tim. 1:17 KJ: "... the only WISE God, [be] honour ..." NIV: "... the only God, be honor and glory ..." 1Tim. 3:16 KJ: "... GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, ..." NIV: "... He appeared in a body ..." COMMENT: People 'appear' on my TV set but that is NOT the same as being "MANIFEST". Also, many people are 'he's but they are NOT God. 1Tim. 5:21 KJ: "I charge [thee] before God, and the LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NIV: "I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus ..." 1Tim. 6:1 KJ: "... that the name of God and [HIS] DOCTRINE be not BLASPHEMED." NIV: "... so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered." COMMENT: First off: I can 'teach' 2+2=4 but that is NOT "DOCTRINE". Secondly, we are AMBASSADORS for Christ (2Co. 5:20). As ambassadors we bring someone else's message, NOT ours! Thus, the doctrine we preach is HIS (i.e. God's) as properly stated by the King James Bible. 1Tim. 6:5 KJ: "... men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, SUPPOSING THAT GAIN IS GODLINESS: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF." NIV: "... men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think THAT GODLINESS IS A MEANS TO FINANCIAL GAIN." COMMENT: The NIV twists this verse. Re-read it carefully. Also notice: The words "from such withdraw thyself" are OMITTED. 1Tim. 6:10 KJ: "For the love of money is THE root of all evil: ..." NIV: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. ..." COMMENT: There is a big difference between NIV's 'a' root and the correct King James reading of "THE" root. 1Tim. 6:20 KJ: "... avoiding ... oppositions of SCIENCE falsely so called:" NIV: "... Turn away from ... opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge," COMMENT: It's NOT 'knowledge' that sometimes attacks the gospel, it's "SCIENCE" falsely so called. For example: The theory of evolution, which, BTW, has been proven wrong at some good creationist web sites, like: http://www.drdino.com http://www.answersingenesis.org http://www.icr.org 2Tim 1:7 KJ: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND." NIV: "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." COMMENT: God has given us a SOUND MIND (KJ). But, it is GONE in the NIV. 2Tim. 2:15 KJ: "STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ..." NIV: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, ..." COMMENT: We are supposed to STUDY the word of God. 2Tim. 2:25 KJ: "... instructing those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES; ..." NIV: "Those who oppose him ... " COMMENT: The NIV is exactly BACKWARDS. 2Tim. 3:3 KJ: "... despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD," NIV: "... not lovers of the good," COMMENT: Quite a difference in those two phrases. Titus 1:4 KJ: "... from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus Christ our Saviour." NIV: "... from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior." Titus 3:10 KJ: "A man that is an HERETICK after the first and second admonition reject;" NIV: "Warn a DIVISIVE person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him." COMMENT: What?? JESUS CHRIST WAS DIVISIVE!!! The KJ is correct: The one that holds onto false doctrine (the HERETICK) is the one to be rejected, NOT the one EXPOSING the false doctrine. Philemon 6 KJ: "... which is in you in Christ JESUS." NIV: "... we have in Christ." Heb. 1:3 KJ: "... when he had BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" NIV: "... After he had provided purification of sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." COMMENT: Jesus Christ did it ALONE and FOR US! Heb. 2:16 KJ: "For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham." NIV: "For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham's descendants." COMMENT: The NIV is not even close. Heb. 3:1 KJ: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, CHRIST Jesus;" NIV: "Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess." COMMENT: CHRIST is left out. Thus, 'Jesus' could be ANYONE TODAY NAMED JESUS and NOT the one and only: JESUS CHRIST. Heb. 3:16 KJ: "FOR SOME, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by Moses." NIV: "Who were they that heard and rebelled? Were they not ALL those Moses led out of Egypt?" COMMENT: The NIV is exactly backwards. Heb. 4:8 KJ: "For if JESUS had given them REST, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day." NIV: "For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day." COMMENT: Our "REST" is in the LORD JESUS, not in Joshua! Heb. 7:21 KJ: "Thou [art] a priest for ever AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC:)" NIV: "... You are a priest forever." COMMENT: What kind of priest? We don't know from the NIV because "after the order of Melchisedec" is omitted. Heb. 10:14 KJ: "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that ARE SANCTIFIED." NIV: "because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are BEING MADE holy." COMMENT: The NIV changed the verb tense (again). Heb. 10:30 KJ: "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH THE LORD. ..." NIV: "For we know him who said, 'It is mine to avenge, I will repay,'" COMMENT: 'Knowing the one who said ...' is VAGUE and could be ANYBODY. This verse is supposed to be about GOD, as stated in the King James Bible. Heb. 11:6 KJ: "... he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him." NIV: "... he rewards those who earnestly seek him." COMMENT: "Earnestly" & "DILIGENTLY" have two different meanings! We must DILIGENTLY seek him. Heb. 12:2 KJ: "Looking unto Jesus the author and FINISHER of [our] faith; ..." NIV: "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, ..." James 5:16 KJ: "Confess [your] FAULTS one to another, ..." NIV: "... confess your sins to each other ..." COMMENT: The Bible says ONLY GOD can forgive sins. Therefore, we confess our SINS to HIM. We should, however, confess our FAULTS to one another. Note: This doctrinal error in the NIV is ALSO in Catholic doctrine and practices. 1Peter 1:22 KJ: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT ..." NIV: "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth ..." COMMENT: What happened to God's Holy Spirit? The King James gives GOD THE GLORY. The NIV credits man. 1Peter 2:2 KJ: "... desire the sincere milk OF THE WORD, that ye may grow thereby:" NIV: "... crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation," COMMENT: The NIV leaves out: OF THE WORD. 1Peter 3:15 KJ: "But sanctify the Lord GOD in your hearts: ..." NIV: "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord ..." COMMENT: Is this another attempt to do away with the DEITY of our Lord? 1Peter 4:1 KJ: "... Christ hath suffered FOR US ..." NIV: "... Christ suffered ..." COMMENT: Notice the last two words are needed for the FULL meaning. Leaving out "for us" in the NIV misses the point entirely! Kind of important don't you think? 1Peter 4:14 KJ: "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS GLORIFIED." NIV: "If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you." COMMENT: The NIV leaves out the GLORY God deserves. 2Peter 2:1 KJ: "... there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES, ..." NIV: "... there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, ..." COMMENT: The problem is that the heresies are DAMNABLE. 1John 1:7 KJ: "... and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin." NIV: "... and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." COMMENT: Who EXACTLY is the NIV talking about? Today, many are named Jesus. But, there is only ONE Jesus CHRIST. Just another attempt by a 'new version' to give us a substitute. 1John 2:20 KJ: "But ye have an UNCTION from the Holy One, and ye know all things." NIV: "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth." COMMENT: Are "UNCTION" and 'anointing' the same? 1John 3:16 KJ: "Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD]." NIV: "This is how we know what love is: ..." COMMENT: God is left out! What happened to GIVING GOD THE GLORY for HIS LOVE? 1John 4:3 KJ: "And every spirit that confesseth not that JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist," NIV: "but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, ..." COMMENT: Not true NIV! Remember, EVIL SPIRITS DID CONFESS/ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS. In Luke 4:34 (and in Mark 1:24) a man having a "spirit of an unclean DEVIL" said to Jesus: "... Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [THOU] JESUS OF NAZARETH? art thou come to destroy us? I KNOW THEE who thou art; THE HOLY ONE OF GOD.". Contrary to what the NIV says, the antichrist DOES ACKNOWLEDGE Jesus. But, what the antichrist CAN NOT SAY is: "JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH" (KJ). 'New versions' like the NIV corrupt the test for the anti-christ/corrupt the test for evil spirits. 1John 4:19 KJ: "We love HIM, because he first loved us." NIV: "We love because he first loved us." COMMENT: The NIV missed the point, totally: We love HIM, because HE FIRST LOVED US. 1John 5:6-7 KJ: "This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three THAT BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE. NIV: "This is the one that came by water and blood - Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify:" COMMENT: What three testify? Notice how verse 7 leaves the reader hanging. It is because a large portion of verse 7 is missing. 1John 5:8 KJ: "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree IN ONE." NIV: "the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement." COMMENT: The NIV leaves out "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH,". Also, it is true that they 'agree', but, MUCH MORE THAN THAT, they agree IN ONE. 1John 5:13 KJ: "... that ye may know that ye have eternal life, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD." NIV: "... that you may know that you have eternal life." COMMENT: Why is this phrase omitted? 2John 1:3 KJ: "Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from the LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." NIV: "Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, will be with us in truth and love." Rev. 1:9 KJ: "... and FOR the testimony of Jesus CHRIST." NIV: "... and the testimony of Jesus." Rev. 1:11 KJ: "Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, ..." NIV: "which said: 'Write on a scroll what you see' ... COMMENT: Jesus as the ALPHA and OMEGA the FIRST and the LAST is omitted. SO, WE ARE NOT TOLD WHO IS SPEAKING. Rev. 5:14 KJ: "... And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER." NIV: "... and the elders fell down and worshiped." COMMENT: Worshipped WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil? Who? The NIV doesn't say. But, the King James is CLEAR: We worship him that "LIVETH FOR EVER"! Rev. 6:17 KJ: "For the great day of HIS wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" NIV: "For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?" COMMENT: Big difference between 'their' wrath and "HIS" wrath! Rev. 8:13 KJ: "... and heard AN ANGEL flying ... saying with a loud VOICE ... " NIV: "... I heard an eagle that was flying ... call out in a loud voice: 'Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, ...'" COMMENT: How can translators mis-translate ANGEL as eagle? Also, after that mis-translation, couldn't they have caught their error when they then said the eagle TALKED? Rev. 13:16 KJ: "And he causeth all, ... to receive a mark IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads:" NIV: "He also forced everyone, ... to receive a mark ON his right hand or ON his forehead," COMMENT: The "mark of the beast" will be IN the right hand or IN the forehead (as in the possibility of a microchip, or something IN the skin that CANNOT be washed off, etc.). Note: Something ON the right hand or ON the forehead could be more easily REMOVED. Rev. 15:3 KJ: "... thou King of SAINTS." NIV: "... King of the ages." Rev. 16:7 KJ: "And I heard ANOTHER OUT OF THE ALTAR SAY, ..." NIV: "And I heard the altar respond: ..." COMMENT: Whoever heard of an altar TALKING? Rev. 19:8 KJ: "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and WHITE: for the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints." NIV: "Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)" COMMENT: The linen of the saints is WHITE because WHITE symbolizes PURITY. 'Bright' could be ANY COLOR. Also, fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints (which GOD GAVE TO US and HE GETS THE GLORY for it). The fine linen IS NOT the righteous ACTS of the saints (which would give man the glory). Rev. 20:9 KJ: "... and fire came down FROM GOD out of heaven, ..." NIV: "... But fire came down from heaven ..." COMMENT: The point is: It was GOD that judged. Rev. 21:24 KJ: "And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED shall walk in the light of it: ..." NIV: "The nations will walk by its light, ..." COMMENT: BIG DIFFERENCE between just 'nations' verses those "WHICH ARE SAVED". Rev 22:14 KJ: "Blessed [are] they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, ..." NIV: "Blessed are those who wash their robes, ..." COMMENT: What? 'Wash their robes'? Are those two verses the same? Brothers and sisters: If you want TO BE BLESSED, then DO HIS (Jesus') COMMANDMENTS! Amen? AMEN!
