In this analysis we will compare the New Century Version (NCV) ( 1991 edition ) to the King James Bible (KJ). K J V S. N C V Gen. 1:21 KJ: "And God created great WHALES, ..." NCV: "So God created the large sea animals ..." Gen. 2:7 KJ: "... and man became a living SOUL." NCV: "... and the man became a living person." Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". Gen. 2:13 KJ: "... land of ETHIOPIA." NCV: "... land of Cush." Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush? Question: Is the NCV's 'Cush' a "simpler, more easily understandable word", than the King James' "ETHIOPIA"? Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." -------- NCV: "But the snake said to the woman, 'You will not die. God knows that if you eat the fruit from that tree, you will learn about good and evil and you will be like God!'" -------- COMMENT: This is MAJOR blasphemy! God (with a big G) is not evil! Think about the difference. Gen. 6:8 KJ: "But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord." NCV: "But Noah pleased the Lord." COMMENT: God's GRACE was extended in the Old Testament, too. Note: The King James Bible gives GOD the GLORY for God's GRACE. The NCV exalts man. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Noah's ark. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/noahsark.htm There are people today that are looking for the ark on Mount Ararat. But, check your King James Bible. In Genesis 8:4 it says "the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the MOUNTAINS (PLURAL) of Ararat". The amateur archeologist found the remains of Noah's ark 12 miles from Mt. Ararat within the MOUNTAINS of Ararat. The discovered ark is 1 inch off, that's right, 1 inch off, from 300 cubits (Gen. 6:15) in length. Gen. 22:8 KJ: "And Abraham said, My son, God will PROVIDE HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering: ..." NCV: "Abraham answered, 'God will give us the lamb for the sacrifice, my son." Comment: It is true, as the NCV says, that God did give them a lamb for the sacrifice. However, that is only part of the story! The NCV totally misses the DEEPER, and MORE AMAZING prophetic truth: GOD WAS the lamb! The King James wording is perfect: "God will PROVIDE HIMSELF" (in the form of his only begotten son JESUS CHRIST) as the sacrifice for the WORLD's SIN. Gen. 24:47 KJ: "... and I put the EARRING UPON HER FACE, ..." NCV: "... Then I put the ring in her nose ..." COMMENT: The NCV put WHAT in her nose? Deut. 32:22 KJ: "For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest HELL, ..." NCV: "My anger has started a fire that burns down to the place of the dead. ..." COMMENT: HELL IS GONE in this verse in the NCV. Joshua 12:23 KJ: "... the king of the NATIONS of Gilgal, ..." NCV: "... Goyim in Gilgal, ..." COMMENT: Is the NCV's 'Goyim' a "simpler and more easily understandable word" than the King James' "NATIONS"? Judges 7:20 KJ: "... The sword OF the Lord, and OF Gideon." NCV: "... 'A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!'" COMMENT: Big difference in those two meanings. 2Sam. 16:4 KJ: "... And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH THEE [that] I may FIND GRACE in thy sight, my lord, O king." NCV: "... Ziba said, 'I bow to you. I hope I will always be able to please you.'" 2Sam. 21:19 KJ: "... Elhanan ... slew [THE BROTHER OF] Goliath ..." NCV: "... Elhanan ... killed Goliath ..." COMMENT: WHAT? 'Elhanan killed Goliath'? Sunday school CHILDREN know that DAVID SLEW GOLIATH! The NCV translation 'scholars' really blew this one. Oh, BTW, for a good book on the quality of the King James translators please see: "The Men Behind The KJV" by: Gustavus S. Paine ISBN: 0-8010-7008-2 published by Baker Book House. Scholar for scholar the translators of the KJ Bible were far greater men of God than any today. John Bois could read the Bible, in Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was fluent in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well as you and I know English (and better) etc. etc. 1Kings 10:28 KJ: "... and LINEN yarn: the king's merchants received the LINEN yarn at a price." NCV: "He imported horses from Egypt ..." COMMENT: The NCV isn't even on the right topic. 1Kings 14:24 KJ: "And there were also SODOMITES in the land: ..." NCV: "There were even male prostitutes in the land. ..." COMMENT: SODOMITES and prostitutes are NOT the same. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev. 18:22). Notice: The NCV has watered down wickedness. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/cities-of-the-plain.htm 1Kings 15:12 KJ: "And he took away the SODOMITES out of the land, ..." NCV: "He forced the male prostitutes ... to leave the country. ..." COMMENT: Again, the NCV changes SODOMITES to PROSTITUTES. Sodomy is gone in the NCV, here in 1Kings 15:12, AND in 1Kings 14:24, AND in 1Kings 22:46 AND in 2Kings 23:7. The NCV OMITS GOD'S WARNING about sodomy. 1Kings 19:12 KJ: "... A STILL SMALL VOICE." NCV: "... there was a quiet, gentle sound." COMMENT: How can one hear a 'quiet sound'? 1Kings 20:38 KJ: "... with ASHES upon his FACE." NCV: "... wrapped his face in a cloth ..." COMMENT: In English, "ASHES" and a 'cloth' are different words entirely. Psalm 2:12 KJ: "KISS THE SON, lest he be angry, ..." NCV: "Show that you are loyal to his son, or you will be destroyed ..." Psalm 9:17 KJ: "The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, ..." NCV: "Wicked people will go to the grave, ..." COMMENT: The NCV has DELETED HELL in this verse. Is this an attempt to sell more NCVs? Psalm 12:6-7 KJ: "The WORDS OF THE LORD [are] pure words: ... THOU SHALT PRESERVE THEM ..." NCV: "... Lord, you will keep us safe; ..." COMMENT: This scripture is about GOD PRESERVING HIS WORDS, not protecting people! The NCV blew this one. Psalm 48:10 KJ: " ... thy right hand is full of RIGHTEOUSNESS." NCV: "... Your right hand is full of goodness." COMMENT: There's a difference between 'goodness' and "RIGHTEOUSNESS". Psalm 72:8 KJ: "He SHALL have dominion also FROM SEA TO SEA, ..." NCV: "Let his kingdom go from sea to sea, ..." COMMENT: This verse is speaking of Christ as king and he "SHALL" have dominion (i.e. CERTAINTY) is watered down to only 'let' his kingdom go from sea to sea. Psalm 72:11 KJ: "Yea, all kings SHALL fall down before him: ..." NCV: "Let all kings bow down to him ..." COMMENT: 'Letting' (a passive verb) all kings 'bow down to him' verses ALL KINGS SHALL (certainty) FALL DOWN BEFORE HIM are two different thoughts entirely. Psalm 109:6 KJ: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let SATAN stand at his right hand." NCV: "... Have an evil person work against him, and let an accuser stand against him." COMMENT: Satan has been REMOVED from this verse in the NCV. Prov. 23:14 KJ: "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt DELIVER HIS SOUL FROM HELL." NCV: "If you spank them, you shall save them from death." COMMENT: What is the NCV talking about? If you spank children THEY WILL STILL DIE! ALL PEOPLE EVENTUALLY DIE. The King James is right: Beat him with the rod, and you shall DELIVER HIS SOUL FROM HELL. Eccl. 5:20 KJ: "... God ANSWERETH [HIM] in the joy of his heart." NCV: "... God keeps them busy with what they love to do." COMMENT: The NCV translators missed this one. Isaiah 11:3 KJ: "And shall make him of quick understanding ..." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: The verse is speaking of JESUS and says that he shall be "of quick understanding". The NCV omits this. Isaiah 14:12 KJ: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! ..." NCV: "King of Babylon, morning star, you have fallen from heaven, ..." COMMENT: WHO is fallen from heaven? Only the King James tell us: It's LUCIFER. LUCIFER IS GONE in this verse in the NCV. Isaiah 32:2 KJ: "And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from the wind, ..." NCV: "Then each ruler will be like a shelter from the wind, ..." COMMENT: The "MAN" here can be no one but Christ. Just another case of setting the Lord Jesus aside, and giving us a substitute. Think how serious all these corruptions are, and how they destroy the word of God by substitution. Isaiah 53:10 KJ: "... when thou shalt make his soul an offering FOR SIN, ..." NCV: "... made his life a penalty offering, ..." comment: The NCV substitutes 'penalty' for "SIN" thus watering down SIN. Isaiah 66:5 KJ: "... he shall appear to your joy, ...." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: This verse is talking about Jesus and says that: "he shall appear to your joy". The NCV OMITS this beautiful scripture. Jer. 31:22 KJ: "... the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A WOMAN SHALL COMPASS A MAN." NCV: "... The Lord has make something new happen in the land: A woman will go seeking a man." COMMENT: The early church fathers are almost unanimous in interpreting this to refer to the virgin Mary compassing Christ in her womb. Nothing like this before, that a child should be conceived without an earthly father. The NCV completely destroys this truth. Daniel 3:25 KJ: "... and the form of the fourth is like THE SON OF GOD." NCV: "... The fourth man looks like a son of the gods." COMMENT: 'A son of (plural) gods?' It was Jesus Christ, THE SON OF GOD, who was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Messach, and Abednego. It was Jesus Christ who protected them. And, it is Jesus Christ who saves us from the fiery furnace (i.e. from hell). Daniel 7:10 KJ: "... THE JUDGMENT WAS SET, and the books were opened." NCV: "... Court was ready to begin, and the books were opened." COMMENT: The JUDGMENT OF GOD has been removed. Hosea 11:12 KJ: "... but Judah YET RULETH WITH GOD, AND IS FAITHFUL WITH THE SAINTS." NCV: "... And Judah turns against God, ..." COMMENT: What is this but perversion? Hosea 13:9 KJ: "O Israel, THOU HAST DESTROYED THYSELF; but in me [is] thine help." NCV: "Israel, I WILL DESTROY YOU. Who will be your helper then?" COMMENT: Here is a splendid example of how 'new version' text is often made to say exactly the OPPOSITE of what was given by inspiration of Almighty God. Zech. 11:17 KJ: "Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the flock! ..." NCV: "How terrible it will be for the useless shepherd ..." COMMENT: The scholars missed this one. Zech. 13:6 KJ: "And [one] shall say unto him, What [are] these WOUNDS IN THINE HANDS? Then HE SHALL ANSWER, [Those] with which I was wounded [in] the house of my friends." NCV: "But someone will ask, 'What are the DEEP CUTS on your body?' And EACH will answer, 'I was hurt at my friend's house.'" COMMENT: This is a verse PROPHESYING JESUS CHRIST. Jesus was wounded IN HIS HANDS. He ALONE did this FOR US. So, as the King James says, "HE SHALL ANSWER" not 'each will answer'. Matt. 1:19 KJ: "Then Joseph ... not willing to make her (Mary) a publick example, was minded TO PUT HER AWAY privily." NCV: "... Joseph ... planned to DIVORCE HER secretly." COMMENT: Think on this one. What a DIFFERENCE! The meaning is far-reaching and a lot is involved. Matt. 1:25 KJ: "And knew her not till she had brought forth her FIRSTBORN son: ..." NCV: "but he did not have sexual relations with her until she gave birth to the son. ..." COMMENT: Jesus was her FIRSTBORN son. Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where Christ should be born." NCV: "Herod ... asked them where the Christ would be born." COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY with him) did not 'ask' where Christ would be born, he "DEMANDED" to know! Matt. 5:22 KJ: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in danger of the judgment: ..." NCV: "But I tell you, if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be judged. ..." COMMENT: WHAT? The NCV says you CAN'T be angry with your brother or sister?!!! Brothers and sisters: The Apostle Paul was angry and withstood the Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus was angry with the Church at Pergamos because of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes (Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but sin not (Eph. 4:26). And it says not to let the sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26). The King James is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE is in danger of the judgment. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between those two verses. Matt. 5:44 KJ: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, BLESS THEM THAT CURSE YOU, DO GOOD TO THEM THAT HATE YOU, and pray for them which DESPITEFULLY USE YOU, and persecute you;" NCV: "But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you." COMMENT: The NCV leaves out everything in capital letters. Matt. 6:13 KJ: "... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: The NCV omits all this. Matt. 6:27 KJ: "Which of you ... can ADD ONE CUBIT unto his stature?" NCV: "You cannot add any time to your life ..." COMMENT: This verse is about HEIGHT (i.e. CUBITS) not time! Matt. 8:19 KJ: "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, MASTER, I will follow thee ..." NCV: "Then a teacher of the law came to Jesus and said, 'Teacher, I will follow you ...'" COMMENT: Jesus as "MASTER" is watered down to just 'teacher'. Matt. 9:13 KJ: "... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners TO REPENTANCE." NCV: "... I did not come to invite good people but to invite sinners." COMMENT: A few points: 1) There is ONE GOOD, and that is GOD (Mark 10:18). So, there are NO 'GOOD PEOPLE'! 2) Invite sinners to WHAT? Notice: The NCV leaves the reader hanging. 3) Only the King James is COMPLETE in its translation: Jesus came to call sinners "TO REPENTANCE". 4) Those last two words in the KJ ARE CRUCIAL. HELL will get all sinners who DON'T repent. JESUS will get sinners who DO repent! Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..." NCV: "And you, Capernaum ... will be thrown down to the depths. ..." COMMENT: Hell is GONE in this verse in the NCV. Matt. 12:6 KJ: "... That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than the temple." NCV: "... that there is something here that is greater than the Temple." Matt. 12:40 KJ: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the WHALE'S belly; ..." NCV: "Jonah was in the stomach of the big fish for three days and three nights. ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ knew the difference between a "WHALE" and a 'fish'. Matt. 12:42 KJ: "... behold, A GREATER THAN SOLOMON [is] here." NCV: "... that someone greater than Solomon is here." Matt. 16:3 KJ: "... O [YE] HYPOCRITES, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?" NCV: "... You see these signs in the sky and know what they mean. In the same way, you see the things that I am doing now, but you don't know their meaning." COMMENT: "O [YE] HYPOCRITES" is omitted. Matt. 16:18 KJ: "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the GATES OF HELL shall not prevail against it." NCV: "... On this rock I will build my church, and the power of death will not be able to defeat it." COMMENT: HELL IS GONE in this verse in the NCV. Matt. 17:21 KJ: "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: To cast out certain devils requires PRAYER and FASTING. The NCV ignores this. Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." NCV: Omitted Comment: Jesus' ENTIRE PURPOSE for coming to earth, is OMITTED in the NCV. Matt. 19:9 KJ: "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY." NCV: "I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman is guilty of adultery. ..." COMMENT: Here is an IMPORTANT verse about marriage, yet the NCV deletes about one third of it. Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..." NCV: "... Why do you ask me about what is good? ..." Matt. 20:7 KJ: "... Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; AND WHATSOEVER IS RIGHT, [THAT] SHALL YE RECEIVE." NCV: "... 'No one gave us a job'. The man said to them, 'Then you can go and work in my vineyard.'" COMMENT: The NCV omits about 1/2 the verse! And this omission makes it HARDER to understand the explanation, given later, in Matt. 20:13. Matt. 20:16 KJ: "... FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN." NCV: Omitted Matt. 20:20 KJ: "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, WORSHIPPING [him], ..." NCV: "... the wife of Zebedee ... bowed before him ..." COMMENT: Bowing is not the same as TRUE WORSHIP. Matt. 23:8 KJ: "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your MASTER, [even] CHRIST; ..." NCV: "But you must not be called 'Teacher', because you have only one Teacher, ..." COMMENT: Christ as "MASTER" is omitted and a UNNAMED 'teacher' is SUBSTITUTED in his place. Matt. 23:14 KJ: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and FOR A PRETENCE make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the GREATER DAMNATION." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: Jesus condemns hypocrisy, yet this warning is not in the NCV. Matt. 23:33 KJ: "[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the DAMNATION of hell?" NCV: "You are snakes! ... How are you going to escape God's judgment?" COMMENT: Hell is more than just 'judgment'; it is "DAMNATION". Dear reader: Be sure that you, and those around you, are SAVED. Matt. 24:3 KJ: "... Tell us, ... of the end of the WORLD ..." NCV: "... Tell us, when will ... this age ... end?" COMMENT: Jesus ISN'T being asked about a "new time period" or a "new dispensation". He is being asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END. There is a difference. Matt. 24:35 KJ: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but MY WORDS shall not pass away." NCV: "Earth and sky will be destroyed, but the words I HAVE SAID will never be destroyed." COMMENT: Hey NCV, how about God's WRITTEN words? They are HIS WORDS, too! The King James has it right: All of God's "WORDS" BOTH SPOKEN, AND WRITTEN, shall not pass away. Matt. 27:4 KJ: "... I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD. ..." NCV: "... I sinned; I handed over to you an innocent man. ..." COMMENT: There are lots of men that are innocent of certain crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST was "THE" INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it. Matt. 27:35 KJ: "And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY THE PROPHET, THEY PARTED MY GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND UPON MY VESTURE DID THEY CAST LOTS." NCV: "When the soldiers had crucified him, they threw lots to decide who would get his clothes." COMMENT: The NCV omits this section of scripture documenting a FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY. Mark 1:2 KJ: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee." NCV: "as the prophet Isaiah wrote: 'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way.'" Comment: The verse being quoted here is NOT from 'Isaiah' as stated by the NCV; it is from Malachi 3:1. Check it out. The King James Bible has the correct reading which is: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS ..." (because Malachi was a prophet). Mark 1:15 KJ: "... the kingdom of God is at hand: REPENT ye, and believe THE GOSPEL." NCV: "... The kingdom of God is near. Change your hearts and lives and believe the Good News!" Mark 3:5 KJ: "... his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE OTHER." NCV: "... and it was healed." Mark 3:29 KJ: "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost ... is in danger of eternal DAMNATION:" NCV: "But anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit ... is guilty of a sin that continues forever." COMMENT: This verse contains an IMPORTANT WARNING, but the NCV waters it down. Mark 6:11 KJ: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY." NCV: "If the people in a certain place refuse to welcome you or listen to you, leave that place. Shake its dust off your feet as a warning to them." COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the NCV leaves out about half of it. Mark 7:16 KJ: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." NCV: This verse is eliminated. Mark 9:29 KJ: "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer AND FASTING." NCV: "Jesus answered, 'That kind of spirit can only be forced out by prayer.'" COMMENT: Notice: FASTING is left out! Wonder why Satan does not want us to fast? Mark 9:44,46 KJ: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." NCV: This verse, in both Mark 9:44 and Mark 9:46 is omitted. Mark 9:47 KJ: "... it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into HELL FIRE:" NCV: "... It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell." COMMENT: The SEVERITY of hell has been watered down. Mark 10:21 KJ: "... and come, TAKE UP THE CROSS, and follow me." NCV: "... Then come and follow me." COMMENT: The Christian TAKES UP THE CROSS (and dies to their will) daily. The NCV has DELETED this. Mark 10:24 KJ: "... Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!" NCV: "... My children, it is very hard to enter the kingdom of God!" COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King James Bible, is TRUSTING IN RICHES. Mark 11:10 KJ: "Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST." NCV: "God bless the kingdom of our father David! ..." Mark 11:26 KJ: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: A HUGE WARNING, yet Mark 11:26 is OMITTED in the NCV. Mark 12:40 KJ: "... and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive GREATER DAMNATION." NCV: "... They will receive a greater punishment." COMMENT: Here is A HUGE WARNING about hypocrisy; but the NCV waters down "DAMNATION" to only 'punishment'. Mark 13:6 KJ: "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." NCV: "Many people will come in my name, saying, 'I am the One', ..." COMMENT: 'The One' could be ANYBODY. Mark 13:14 KJ: "But when ye shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, ..." NCV: "You will see the destroying terror standing where it should not be. ..." COMMENT: Another section of scripture pointing out the FULFILLMENT OF A PROPHECY, but the NCV omits it. Mark 13:33 KJ: "Take ye heed, watch AND PRAY: ..." NCV: "Be careful! Always be ready, ..." COMMENT: What does the NCV have against PRAYING? Mark 14:22 KJ: "... Take, EAT: this is my body." NCV: "... Take it; this is my body." Mark 15:28 KJ: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS." NCV: Another scripture documenting the fulfillment of prophecy but it has been OMITTED. Mark 16:9-20 KJ: (All verses of Mark 16:9-20 are included) NCV: Mark 16:9-20 gives the footnote, "Verses 9- 20 are not included in two of the best and oldest Greek manuscripts of Mark." COMMENT: In the book, "The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark", John Burgeon has written over 400 pages proving conclusively that this section was in the original manuscripts. Burgeon's book remains unanswered and is unanswerable. Mark 16:15 KJ: "... Go ye into all the world, and PREACH THE GOSPEL ..." NCV: "... Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone." COMMENT: There are a lot of items in the news that are 'good news', but Jesus said to preach THE GOSPEL. Luke 1:28 KJ: "And the angel came in unto her, and said, HAIL, [THOU THAT ART] HIGHLY FAVOURED, the Lord [is] with thee: BLESSED [ART] THOU AMONG WOMEN." NCV: "The angel came to her and said, 'Greetings! The Lord has blessed you and is with you.'" Luke 2:33 KJ: "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." NCV: "Jesus' father and mother were amazed at what Simeon had said about him." COMMENT: What? GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST -NOT Joseph! Luke 2:43 KJ: "... the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and JOSEPH AND HIS MOTHER knew not [of it]." NCV: "... The boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but HIS PARENTS did not know it." COMMENT: 'HIS PARENTS'? The NCV makes JOSEPH the father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Joseph was NOT Jesus' father, GOD WAS. Luke 2:49 KJ: "... I must be about my Father's BUSINESS ..." NCV: "... I must be in my Father's house ..." COMMENT: Don't the "scholars" know the difference between "BUSINESS" and a 'house'? Also, if a Christian ONLY stays in God's 'house', how will the WORLD be evangelized? Brothers and sisters: We need to be about our FATHER's BUSINESS (WHEREVER that may lead). Luke 4:4 KJ: "... man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD." NCV: "... A person does not live by eating only bread." COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need? The NCV doesn't say. Only the King James tells us: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD! Luke 4:8 KJ: "And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." NCV: "Jesus answered, 'It is written in the Scriptures: You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'" COMMENT: The NCV omits "GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN." Luke 4:18-19 KJ: "The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath ANOINTED ME to preach the gospel to the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." NCV: "The Lord has put his Spirit in me, because he appointed me to tell the Good News to the poor. He has sent me to tell the captives they are free and to tell the blind that they can see again. God sent me to free those that have been treated unfairly and to announce the time when the Lord will show his kindness." COMMENT: Being 'appointed' and being "ANOINTED" are VERY DIFFERENT. And, we are to SPECIFICALLY preach THE GOSPEL, not just tell generic 'good news'. There is a DIFFERENCE. Also, the NCV omits entirely, "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted". Lastly, the NCV says to 'announce the time when the Lord WILL SHOW his kindness' What? 'WILL SHOW his kindness'? Hasn't the Lord ALREADY showed kindness MANY TIMES ALREADY in the OT? How about when he had Noah build an ark that saved a remnant from the flood? Luke 9:55-56 KJ: "But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they went to another village." NCV: "But Jesus turned and scolded them. Then they went to another town." COMMENT: Again, this casts doubt on the veracity, the authenticity of this passage. Also, the NCV totally misses a HUGE issue: Sometimes people DO NOT KNOW "what manner of spirit they are of". Luke 11:2 KJ: "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH." NCV: "Jesus said to them, 'When you pray, say: Father, may your name always be kept holy. May your kingdom come.'" Luke 11:4 KJ: "... And lead us not into temptation; BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL." NCV: "... And do not cause us to be tempted." Luke 11:29 KJ: "... but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET." NCV: "... except the sign of Jonah." Luke 16:23 KJ: "And IN HELL he lift up his eyes, ..." NCV: "In the place of the dead, he was in much pain. ..." COMMENT: Again, HELL IS DELETED in the NCV. Luke 17:36 KJ: "Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." NCV: Omitted Luke 21:8 KJ: "... for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." NCV: "... Many people will come in my name, saying, 'I am the One' ..." COMMENT: Who is this 'One'? Luke 22:20 KJ: "Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [is] the NEW TESTAMENT in my blood, which is shed for you." NCV: "In the same way, after supper, Jesus took the cup and said, 'This cup is the new agreement that God makes with his people. This new agreement begins with my blood which is poured out for you.'" COMMENT: Is it a 'new agreement'? NO! An agreement requires at least 2. And man did not participate in this 'new agreement'. God did it all ON HIS OWN! It is the NEW TESTAMENT. Luke 23:17 KJ: "(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)" NCV: Luke 23:17 is omitted. COMMENT: Again, this casts doubt on a passage in God's word. Luke 23:23 KJ: "... And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF PRIESTS prevailed." NCV: "... Their yelling became so loud that" COMMENT: Notice how abruptly the NCV verse ENDS. This is because scripture has been LEFT OUT. Luke 23:42 KJ: "And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." NCV: "Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom!'" COMMENT: There is no explanation for leaving out "LORD". The thief GOT SAVED, so of course he addressed Jesus AS LORD! Luke 23:45 KJ: "And the sun was DARKENED, ..." NCV: "because the sun did not shine. ..." COMMENT: Why did the sun 'not shine'? Only the King James Bible lets us know: It was supernaturally DARKENED. Luke 24:46 KJ: "... and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer, ..." NCV: "... It was written that the Christ would suffer ..." COMMENT: The NCV misses a HUGE POINT: It "BEHOVED" Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY. John 1:14 KJ: "... (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of THE ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father,) ..." NCV: "... We saw his glory- the glory that belongs to the only Son of the Father- ..." COMMENT: God has MORE THAN ONE SON. Every male that is saved is a SON of God! The King James is right: Jesus was the ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father. John 1:42 KJ: "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: Thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE." NCV: "Then Andrew took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas.'" COMMENT: The NCV omits: "WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE". This omission is DISASTROUS. Jesus calls Peter "A STONE" to differentiate Peter from Jesus who is "THE ROCK" (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says: upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my Church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring to Peter! And this is one of many errors in Catholic doctrine. John 3:13 KJ: "... [even] the Son of man WHICH IS IN HEAVEN." NCV: "... the Son of Man." John 3:15 KJ: "That whosoever believeth in him SHOULD NOT PERISH, but have eternal life." NCV: "So that everyone who believes can have eternal life in him." COMMENT: NOT PERISHING is important, don't you think? John 3:16 KJ: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only BEGOTTEN Son, ..." NCV: "God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son ..." COMMENT: Believers in God are called his SONS and daughters. God did not give his 'ONE AND ONLY SON'. He has MANY sons. God gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son. John 4:24 KJ: "God [is] A Spirit: ..." NCV: "God is spirit, ..." COMMENT: For the NCV to say: 'God is spirit' is to infer that ALL spirits are God. NOT true. We know there are evil spirits. And we know that, in God there is NO evil. Thus the King James is correct: God is "A" spirit. John 5:4 KJ: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had." NCV: John 5:4 is omitted. COMMENT: This injects another doubt as to the authority and accuracy of God's word. Also, this omits one of the powers (apparently) of a HOLY angel of God. John 5:16 KJ: "And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done these things on the sabbath day." NCV: "Because Jesus was doing this on the Sabbath day, the Jews began to persecute him." COMMENT: How about they "sought to SLAY" Jesus (as properly stated in the King James Bible)? The NCV gives no reason for omitting this phrase or for brushing over the fact that the Jews wanted to MURDER JESUS. Let's ACCURATELY STATE what Jesus went through FOR US. Amen? John 5:29 KJ: "... and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of DAMNATION." NCV: "... those who did evil will rise to be judged guilty." COMMENT: The NCV waters down "DAMNATION" to only 'judged guilty'. John 6:33 KJ: "For the bread of God IS HE which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world." NCV: "God's bread is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." John 6:47 KJ: "... He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting life." NCV: "... whoever believes has eternal life." COMMENT: Believes WHAT? or WHO? The NCV doesn't say. Eternal life comes to those who believe ON JESUS. John 6:69 KJ: "And we believe and are sure that thou art that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD." NCV: "We believe and know that you are the Holy One from God." COMMENT: What happened to "CHRIST"? Or, to him being THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD? John 8:9 KJ: "And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by one, ..." NCV: "Those who heard Jesus began to leave one by one, ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this phrase. John 8:59 KJ: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, AND SO PASSED BY." NCV: "... the people picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus hid himself, and then he left the Temple." COMMENT: Quite a different thought. John 9:4 KJ: "I must work the works of him that sent me ..." NCV: "... we must continue doing the work of the One who sent me. ..." John 9:35 KJ: "... Dost thou believe on the SON OF GOD?" NCV: "... Do you believe in the Son of Man?" John 10:30 KJ: "I and [MY] Father are one." NCV: "The Father and I are one." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ's "MY Father" is GONE and is replaced by 'the' Father. Thus, the NCV deletes the PERSONAL relationship of "MY FATHER", between Jesus and the heavenly Father. John 11:41 KJ: "Then they took away the stone [FROM THE PLACE] WHERE THE DEAD WAS LAID. ..." NCV: "So they moved the stone away ..." COMMENT: It's NOT a miracle if Lazarus isn't DEAD. John 14:2 KJ: "In my Father's house are MANY MANSIONS: ..." NCV: "There are many rooms in my Father's house; ..." COMMENT: If Jesus thinks your work for him was WORTHY, wouldn't you want a "MANSION" instead of just a 'room'? The NCV waters down one of the POSSIBLE REWARDS from God. John 14:16 KJ: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another COMFORTER, ..." NCV: "I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper ..." John 14:26 KJ: "But the COMFORTER, [which is] the Holy Ghost, ..." NCV: "... This Helper is the Holy Spirit ..." John 15:26 KJ: "But when the COMFORTER is come, ..." NCV: "... When he comes, ..." John 16:7 KJ: "... for if I go not away, the COMFORTER will not come ..." NCV: "... If I do not go away, the Helper will not come" John 16:16 KJ: "A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, BECAUSE I GO TO THE FATHER." NCV: "After a little while you will not see me, and then after a little while you will see me again." COMMENT: Jesus' prophecy, about himself, is corrupted in the NCV. John 17:5 KJ: "And now, O Father, glorify thou me WITH THINE OWN SELF with the glory I had with thee before the world was." NCV: "And now, Father, give me glory with you; give me the glory I had with you before the world was made." Acts 1:3 KJ: ".. he shewed himself alive after his passion BY MANY INFALLIBLE PROOFS, ..." NCV: "... proved in many ways ..." COMMENT: The evidence about Jesus is INFALLIBLE. Acts 2:30 KJ: "... that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit on his throne;" NCV: "... God ... would make a person from David's FAMILY a king just as he was." COMMENT: The NCV misses two points: 1) God DIDN'T make a person from David's FAMILY a king. It was a person from the FRUIT OF DAVID'S LOINS (i.e. a descendant in David's LINEAGE). And, 2) It wasn't just ANY descendant that would sit on the throne: It was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ). Acts 2:47 KJ: "... And the Lord added to the church daily such as SHOULD BE saved." NCV: "... the Lord added those who were BEING SAVED ..." COMMENT: Again, salvation is an IMMEDIATE event; it is NOT A PROCESS. People are either saved or they are not. They are NOT 'being saved'. Acts 3:13 KJ: "The God of Abraham, ... hath glorified HIS SON Jesus; ..." NCV: "The God of Abraham, ... gave glory to Jesus, his servant. ..." COMMENT: Jesus AS GOD'S SON has been watered down to just a 'servant'. Acts 3:26 KJ: "... God, having raised up HIS SON Jesus, ..." NCV: "God has raised up his servant Jesus ..." COMMENT: Again, the NCV waters down Jesus AS GOD'S SON, to Jesus as just a 'servant'. Acts 4:13 KJ: "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and IGNORANT men, ..." NCV: "The Jewish leaders saw that Peter and John were not afraid to speak, and they understood that these men had no special training ..." COMMENT: 'No special training'? 'No special training'? Peter and John had been with Jesus Christ (GOD ALMIGHTY in the flesh!) and the NCV says they had 'no special training'?!!! Come on! Peter and John had been trained by the BEST TRAINER IN THE UNIVERSE! They were, however, as the King James says, ignorant men. Acts 4:25 KJ: "... Why did the HEATHEN rage, and the people imagine vain things?" NCV: "... Why are the nations so angry? ..." COMMENT: It wasn't 'nations' that were angry. It was the "HEATHEN". Acts 4:27 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, ..." NCV: "... Jesus is your holy servant, ... COMMENT: Again, the NCV waters down Jesus. GOD'S HOLY CHILD is watered down to a 'holy servant'. Acts 4:30 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus." NCV: "... by the power of Jesus, your holy servant." COMMENT: One more time: The NCV waters down Jesus as GOD'S HOLY CHILD to just a 'holy servant'. Acts 8:9 KJ: "... a certain man, ... used SORCERY, and BEWITCHED the people ..." NCV: "... a man ... practiced magic and amazed all the people ..." COMMENT: No! No! No! He didn't 'amaze' the people (as if they were being entertained). HE BEWITCHED THEM (to their detriment). Acts 8:37 KJ: "And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD." NCV: OMITTED COMMENT: This verse gives THE requirement for water baptism, namely: BELIEVING that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. But, both Codex Aleph and B leave this verse out and they are TWO OF THE WORST manuscripts. This is a good example of the spiritual BATTLE that still surrounds the word of God. Acts 9:5-6 KJ: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." NCV: "Saul said, 'Who are you, Lord?' The voice answered, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Get up now and go into the city. Someone there will tell you what you must do.'" COMMENT: It was THE LORD THAT SPOKE, not just a 'voice answered'! A voice could be ANYBODY. It could even be the devil ... Truly the translators have messed up these two verses. Acts 9:20 KJ: "And straightway he preached CHRIST ..." NCV: "Soon he began to preach about Jesus ..." COMMENT: CHRIST is missing. Acts 10:37 KJ: "THAT WORD, [I say], ye know, which was PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;" NCV: "You know what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after John preached to the people about baptism." COMMENT: Notice how VAGUE the NCV is. It says: 'you know what has happened' but then doesn't say WHAT HAPPENED! The King James tells us: THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA. Acts 12:4 KJ: "... after EASTER ..." NCV: "... after the Passover Feast." COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King. He did NOT regard Passover! He would have regarded "EASTER", though. Note: Easter and Passover are NOT the same. Passover is BIBLICAL. But do a study about Easter and you will find out that it is PAGAN. Acts 15:11 KJ: "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they." NCV: "But we believe that we and they too will be saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus." COMMENT: What happened to "CHRIST"? Acts 15:18 KJ: "KNOWN UNTO GOD are ALL HIS WORKS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD." NCV: "And these things have been known for a long time." Acts 15:34 KJ: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 32, 33, and then 35 ... is NOT new math. Acts 16:31 KJ: "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." NCV: "They said to him, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved -- you and all the people in your house.'" COMMENT: Again, they omit "CHRIST". Christ means "anointed". So why strip Jesus of his anointing? Acts 17:22 KJ: "Then Paul stood in the midst of MAR'S HILL, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS." NCV: "Then Paul stood before the meeting of the Areopagus and said, 'People of Athens, I can see that your are very religious in all things.'" Comment: Being 'very religious' and "TOO SUPERSTITIOUS" are entirely different! Also, is the NCV's 'Areopagus' "more easily understandable" than the King James' "MAR'S HILL"? Acts 20:23-24 KJ: "... the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, ..." NCV: "BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME" is omitted. COMMENT: PRAISE GOD the Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED by his circumstances. Thus, Paul continued to PREACH THE GOSPEL! MAY WE DO THE SAME! Notice: It is the King James Bible that gives us INSIGHT into this man of God and not the NCV. Acts 21:9 KJ: "And the same man had four daughters, VIRGINS, which did prophesy." NCV: "He had four UNMARRIED daughters who had the gift of prophesying." COMMENT: What happened to the blessing of VIRGINITY? 'New versions' like the NCV do not like the topic of virginity. Also, being a VIRGIN and being 'unmarried' are VERY different. Lastly, the NCV says they 'had the gift of prophesying'. The KJ says that they "DID PROPHESY". The point: Having a spiritual gift (NCV) and USING IT (KJ) are DIFFERENT. Acts 23:9 KJ: "... let us not fight against God." NCV: Omitted Acts 24:6-7 KJ: "Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. 7 But the chief captain Lysias came [upon us], and with great violence took [him] away out of our hands," NCV: Most of verse 6 and all of verse 7 has been omitted. Acts 28:29 KJ: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves." NCV: Acts 28:29 is omitted. COMMENT: The VAST MAJORITY of manuscripts have this verse! This is still ANOTHER ATTEMPT to cast doubt upon the word of God. Romans 1:16 KJ: "For I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL OF CHRIST: ..." NCV: "I am proud of the Good News, ..." COMMENT: The good news about WHAT? Good news can be almost ANY topic. It should say: THE GOSPEL. Also, being PROUD is NOT good. Pride goeth before destruction (Prov. 16:18). When Jesus came up out of the water the heavenly Father said: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am WELL PLEASED, not proud (Matt 12:18). Lastly, and again, the translators seem to dislike "OF CHRIST". Romans 1:25 KJ: "Who CHANGED the truth of God INTO a lie, ..." NCV: "They traded the truth of God for a lie. ..." COMMENT: Those two verses are NOT the same. Romans 6:3 KJ: "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH?" NCV: "Did you forget that all of us BECAME PART OF CHRIST WHEN WE WERE BAPTIZED? ..." COMMENT: The NCV is saying that baptism saves. i.e. Salvation by WORKS. That is WRONG. It is JESUS who saves! Baptism is an act of OBEDIENCE to him. Romans 6:18 KJ: "Being then made free from sin, ye became the SERVANTS of righteousness." NCV: "You were made free from sin, and now you are slaves to goodness." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! Think about the difference. Romans 6:19 KJ: "... now yield your members SERVANTS to righteousness ..." NCV: "... now you must give yourselves to be slaves of goodness. ..." COMMENT: Again, are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! There is a difference. Romans 6:22 KJ: "But now being made free from sin, and become SERVANTS to God, ..." NCV: "But now you are free from sin and have become slaves of God. ..." COMMENT: WHAT? 'Slaves of God'? No! No! No! We are "SERVANTS" to God, as properly stated in the King James Bible. Romans 8:1 KJ: "[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT." NCV: "So now, those who are in Christ Jesus are not judged guilty." COMMENT: AN IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION is in the second half of the verse, but the NCV omits it. Romans 10:17 KJ: "So then faith [cometh] by hearing, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD." NCV: "So faith comes from hearing the Good News, ..." COMMENT: FAITH comes from the WORD OF GOD and not from just any generic 'good news'. Romans 13:9 KJ: "... Thou shalt not bear false witness, ..." NCV: Omitted COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (and that includes false witnesses) go to the lake of fire (Rev 21:8). So, why leave this out? Romans 14:1 KJ: "Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to DOUBTFUL disputations." NCV: "Accept into your group someone who is weak in faith, and do not argue about opinions." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ does NOT say we cannot have disputes; only that we should not have DOUBTFUL disputes. What are doubtful disputes? Whether we can 'eat all things' or only 'herbs'(Romans 14:2) or whether we 'esteem every day alike' or 'one day over another' (Romans 14:5). But, in the NCV we would NEVER DISPUTE ANYTHING including KEY DOCTRINE like Paul and Barnabus going up to Jerusalem concerning whether circumcision was necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2). The NCV would also come against both Titus 1:9 where we are to use sound doctrine to CONVINCE THE GAINSAYERS and 2Tim. 3:16 where ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable for REPROOF and for CORRECTION. Romans 15:19 KJ: "Through mighty signs and wonders, BY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD; ..." NCV: "because of the POWER OF MIRACLES and the great things they saw, AND because of THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. ..." COMMENT: The King James ASSOCIATES the "MIGHTY SIGNS AND WONDERS" to the "POWER OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD" thus GIVING GOD the GLORY! The NCV dis- associates 'THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT' from the 'POWER OF MIRACLES' by placing the conjunction 'AND' between the two. Do you see the SUBTLENESS of that corruption? Romans 16:24 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen." NCV: Romans 16:24 is omitted. COMMENT: The vast majority of texts have this verse, not just some. 1Cor. 1:18 KJ: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God." NCV: "The teaching about the cross is foolishness to those who are BEING LOST, but to us who are BEING SAVED it is the power of God." COMMENT: 'Being lost'? They ARE LOST! Also, 'being saved'? The NCV is saying salvation is a PROCESS. That is NOT true. Salvation is an IMMEDIATE event. The correct wording is in the King James Bible and it is: "ARE SAVED". 1Cor. 1:21 KJ: "... it pleased God by the FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe." NCV: "... God chose to use the message that sounds foolish to save those who believe." COMMENT: Contrary to the NCV, THE GOSPEL MESSAGE IS NOT FOOLISH. 1Cor. 1:22 KJ: "For the Jews REQUIRE a sign, ..." NCV: "The Jews ask for miracles, ..." 1Cor. 5:4 KJ: "In the name of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST," NCV: "When you meet together in the name of our Lord Jesus, and I meet with you in spirit with the power of our Lord Jesus," COMMENT: IN TWO PLACES THE NAME "CHRIST" is omitted. Why do the translators dislike "Christ" so much? Are the translators of 'new versions' really saved? 1Cor. 5:7 KJ: "... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed FOR US:" NCV: "... For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." COMMENT: Leaving out "FOR US" misses the point. 1Cor. 6:9-10 KJ: "... Be not deceived: neither fornicators, ... NOR EFFEMINATE, ... shall inherit the kingdom of God." NCV: "Nor effeminate" has been omitted in the NCV. 1Cor. 6:20 KJ: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore GLORIFY God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S." NCV: "because you were bought by God for a price. So honor God with your bodies." COMMENT: We are to GLORIFY God in our body and not just 'honor' him. Also, we are to GLORIFY GOD with OUR SPIRIT, too. The NCV has, again, left out scripture. 1Cor. 7:25 KJ: "Now concerning VIRGINS ..." NCV: "Now I write about people who are not married. ..." COMMENT: 'New versions", including the NCV, eliminate "VIRGINS". But, there is a BIG difference between VIRGINS and the 'not married'. 1Cor. 7:39 KJ: "The wife is BOUND BY THE LAW as long as her husband liveth; ..." NCV: "A woman must stay with her husband as long as he lives. ..." 1Cor. 9:1 KJ: "... have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord? ..." NCV: "... I have seen Jesus our Lord. ..." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting the name "CHRIST". Again, they show their dislike for "Christ". 1Cor. 9:27 KJ: "But I keep ... my body, ... into subjection: lest ... I myself should be a CASTAWAY." NCV: "I treat my body hard ... so that I myself will not be disqualified ..." COMMENT: Being a "CASTAWAY" and being 'disqualified' are VERY DIFFERENT. Think about it. 1Cor. 11:24 KJ: "And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, EAT: this is my body, which is BROKEN for you: ..." NCV: "and gave thanks for it. Then he broke the bread and said, 'This is my body, it is for you. ...'" COMMENT: 1) The NCV leaves out "EAT" and 2) The NCV misses a HUGE point: Christ's body was BROKEN for us. 1Cor. 11:29 KJ: "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh DAMNATION TO HIMSELF, ..." NCV: "because all who eat the bread and drink the cup without recognizing the body eat and drink judgment against themselves." COMMENT: The NCV waters down God's WARNING. 1Cor. 12:13 KJ: "For BY one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, ..." NCV: "... But we were all baptized into one body THROUGH one Spirit. ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'through' are totally different. 1Cor. 15:1 KJ: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL ..." NCV: "Now, brothers and sisters, I want you to remember the Good News ..." COMMENT: If you get a raise at work that is 'good news', but that is NOT "THE GOSPEL". The King James Bible says to DECLARE THE GOSPEL. 1Cor. 15:2 KJ: "By which also ye ARE SAVED, ..." NCV: "And you are being saved by it ..." COMMENT: Good news (from previous verse) does NOT save! Come on! The birth of my daughter was good news! But, it didn't save anyone! It's the GOSPEL OF CHRIST that is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). Also, unlike the NCV, we are NOT 'being' saved. We ARE SAVED. 1Cor. 15:45 KJ: "... The first man Adam was made a living SOUL; ..." NCV: "... The first man, Adam, became a living person. ..." COMMENT: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". 1Cor. 16:22 KJ: "If any man love not the Lord JESUS CHRIST, let him be Anathema Maranatha." NCV: "If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be separated from God - ..." COMMENT: Leaving out "JESUS CHRIST" leaves us GUESSING as to whom the NCV wants us to LOVE. 1Cor. 16:23 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with you." NCV: "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you." COMMENT: Why do they keep eliminating the name "CHRIST"? 2Cor. 2:15 KJ: "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them THAT ARE SAVED, ..." NCV: "... We are the sweet smell of Christ among those who are BEING SAVED ..." COMMENT: What? Again? The NCV is teaching salvation is a PROCESS. NO! It is an IMMEDIATE event. 2Cor. 2:17 KJ: "For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: ..." NCV: "We do not sell the word of God for a profit ..." COMMENT: Come on! SELLING and CORRUPTING are VERY different. 'Modern' versions try and hide from the truth they are "CORRUPTING" the word of God. 2Cor. 10:4 KJ: "(For the weapons of our warfare [ARE] NOT CARNAL, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strong holds;)" NCV: "We fight with weapons that are different from those the world uses. Our weapons have power from God ..." COMMENT: "CARNAL" and 'different' are not the same. Also, our weapons are mighty THROUGH GOD not just 'from God'. 2Cor. 10:5 KJ: "Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing ..." 2Cor. 10:4-5 NCV: "... We destroy peoples arguments and every proud thing ..." COMMENT: It's IMAGINATIONS that can sometimes BAIT US into sin. Gal. 2:20 KJ: "I AM CRUCIFIED with Christ: nevertheless I live; ..." NCV: "I WAS put to death on the cross with Christ, ..." COMMENT: "I AM CRUCIFIED with Christ". The believers crucifixion is an ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction not a PAST TENSE transaction of: 'WAS put to death'. Also NONE OF US were put to death on the cross WITH CHRIST (as stated by the NCV). Jesus Christ DIED ALONE on his cross for our sins. Gal. 5:12 KJ: "I would they were even cut off which trouble you." NCV: "I wish the people who are bothering you would CASTRATE THEMSELVES!" COMMENT: WHAT? The NCV says the Apostle Paul wanted some people to be 'CASTRATED'? What kind of PERVERSION is this? Gal. 6:17 KJ: "... for I bear IN my body the marks of the LORD JESUS." NCV: "... I have scars ON my body that show I belong to Christ Jesus." COMMENT: I have scars on my body, too. But, I got those scars as a teenager BEFORE I was saved. So, those scars have NOTHING to do with belonging to the Lord Jesus Christ. The "MARKS" (KJ) not 'scars' (NCV) of the Lord Jesus are INSIDE our body, not outside. Eph. 1:6 KJ: "... he hath made us ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED." NCV: "... in Christ, the One he loves." COMMENT: The NCV says of God that Jesus is 'the One' God loves, as in the ONLY ONE. But, the King James says that we are "ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED". Thus, WE ARE ALSO LOVED. Eph. 3:14 KJ: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST," NCV: "So I bow in prayer before the Father" COMMENT: Which Father is the NCV talking about? Satan is a father: The "father of lies". Only the KJ says which Father it is: It is the Father OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Eph. 5:1 KJ: "Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, ..." NCV: "You are God's children ... so try to BE LIKE him." Comment: The NCV documents Satan's position EXACTLY. Only Satan tries to 'be like' God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God. In Isa. 14:14 it quotes Satan as saying: "... I will BE LIKE the most high". Born again believers CANNOT be like God. We can't run the universe! We can only FOLLOW God. Remember, Jesus DID NOT tell his "fishers of men" to be "like him". Jesus said: "follow me ...". Eph. 5:9 KJ: "(For the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" NCV: "Light brings every kind of goodness, right living, and truth." COMMENT: What is this 'light' the NCV is referring to? Satan himself can be transformed into an angel of LIGHT (2Co. 11:14). The topic of this verse is NOT LIGHT; it is the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT! The NCV misses it. Eph. 5:30 KJ: "For we are MEMBERS of his body, OF HIS FLESH, AND OF HIS BONES." NCV: "because we are parts of his body." Philip. 2:6 KJ: "Who, being in the FORM OF GOD, thought it NOT ROBBERY to be equal with God:" NCV: "Christ himself was like God ... But he did not think that being equal with God was something to be used for his own benefit." Philip. 2:12 KJ: "... WORK OUT your own salvation with fear and trembling." NCV: "... Keep ON WORKING TO COMPLETE your salvation ..." COMMENT: What? The NCV says that we must WORK to 'complete' our salvation? That means it is Jesus PLUS WORKS = salvation. That is NOT TRUE. It is Jesus plus NOTHING, minus NOTHING. The KJ teaches that once we are saved we must "work out" our salvation. That is like going to the gym to "work out" i.e. exercise our muscles. Likewise, we should "work out" i.e. exercise, or PUT TO USE, the gift of salvation. Philip. 3:8 KJ: "... DUNG, ..." NCV: "... worthless trash. ..." COMMENT: I have some 'trash' on the top of my office desk, but I don't want "DUNG" there!!! Philip. 3:21 KJ: "Who shall change our VILE BODY, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, ..." NCV: "... he will change our simple bodies and make them like his own glorious body." COMMENT: 'Simple bodies'? The problem is that our bodies are "VILE". Our HEART is desperately WICKED (Jer. 17:9). Our FLESH is SINFUL (Romans 8:3). There is NO GOOD THING that dwells in our FLESH (Romans 7:18) etc. Col. 1:14 KJ: "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:" NCV: "The Son paid for our sins, and in him we have forgiveness." COMMENT: The NCV omits "THROUGH HIS BLOOD." Why omit the blood? This omission can be traced, as usual, to the manuscripts classed as "Neutral Texts" by Westcott and Hort. These are in agreement with the Vatican and Sinaitic manuscripts: two of the WORST manuscripts. Remember: Without the shedding OF BLOOD there is NO REMISSION (Heb. 9:22). Col. 1:16 KJ: "For BY HIM were all things created, ..." NCV: "THOROUGH HIS POWER all things were made- ..." COMMENT: "BY HIM" and 'THROUGH HIS POWER' are NOT the same. BY HIM (KJ) gives the PERSON of Jesus Christ the GLORY. 'Through his power' (NCV) focuses on 'abstract' power. Col. 2:2 KJ: "... to the acknowledgement of the mystery OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;" NCV: "... their knowing fully God's secret, that is, Christ himself." COMMENT: GOD THE FATHER is omitted. Col. 2:9 KJ: "For IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY." NCV: "All of God lives in Christ fully ..." COMMENT: Notice: The NCV makes God SEPARATE from Christ. Only the King James Bible makes Christ God, as Christ is part of the Godhead. Col. 3:2 KJ: "Set your AFFECTION on things above, ..." NCV: "THINK only about the things in heaven, ..." COMMENT: The mind can be an issue, but the BIGGER ISSUE is our AFFECTIONS (i.e. our HEART). See also Proverbs 4:23. Col. 3:6 KJ: "For which things' sake the WRATH of God COMETH ON THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE:" NCV: "These things make God angry." COMMENT: God's WRATH is watered down to only anger. And the target of God's wrath (i.e. the "CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE") is missing in the NCV. 1Thes. 3:11 KJ: "Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you." NCV: "Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus prepare the way for us to come to you." 1Thes. 5:22 KJ: "Abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil." NCV: "and stay away from everything that is evil." COMMENT: We SHOULD stay away from evil. But, MORE THAN THAT, we need to abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil. 1Tim. 1:1 KJ: "... and LORD Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;" NCV: "... and Christ Jesus our hope." 1Tim. 1:17 KJ: "... the only WISE God, [be] honour and glory ..." NCV: "... the only God, be honor and glory ..." 1Tim. 3:16 KJ: "... GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, ..." NCV: "... He was shown to us in a human body, ..." COMMENT: WHO is this 'He'? I am a 'HE' and I am also in a 'human body'! But, I am NOT God! There is a DIFFERENCE. Apparently, what the NCV CANNOT SAY is that: "GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH". 1Tim. 5:21 KJ: "I charge [thee] before God, and THE LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NCV: "Before God and Christ Jesus ..." 1Tim. 6:1 KJ: "... that the name of God and [HIS] DOCTRINE be not BLASPHEMED." NCV: "... so no one will speak against God's name and our teaching." COMMENT: It's NOT 'our teaching' that should not be blasphemed, but GOD'S DOCTRINE. And, it's that GOD'S NAME be NOT BLASPHEMED not just 'spoken against'. The NCV ruins this important verse. 1Tim. 6:5 KJ: "... men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing THAT GAIN IS GODLINESS: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF." NCV: "... from those who have evil minds and have lost the truth. They think that serving God is a way to get rich." COMMENT: In the NCV, the phrase; "FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF" is omitted. Also notice: The King James warns against men who think "GAIN IS GODLINESS. The NCV warns against men who think 'serving God is a way to get rich' (i.e. GODLINESS IS GAIN). The NCV is EXACTLY BACKWARDS. 1Tim. 6:10 KJ: "For the love of money is THE ROOT of all evil: ..." NCV: "The love of money causes all kinds of evil. ..." COMMENT: The love of money is "THE ROOT", not just a 'cause', of evil. 1Tim. 6:19 KJ: "... that they may lay hold on ETERNAL LIFE." NCV: "... Then they will be able to have the life that is true life." COMMENT: 'True life' on this earth DOES NOT COMPARE to "ETERNAL LIFE"! 1Tim. 6:20 KJ: "... avoiding ... oppositions OF SCIENCE falsely so called:" NCV: "... Stay away from ... what is falsely called 'knowledge'." COMMENT: It's NOT 'knowledge' that sometimes attacks the gospel, it's "SCIENCE" falsely so called. For example: The theory of evolution, which, BTW, has been proven wrong at some good creationist web sites, like: http://www.drdino.com http://www.answersingenesis.org http://www.icr.org 2Tim 1:7 KJ: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND." NCV: "God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid but a spirit of power and love and self control." COMMENT: God has given us a SOUND MIND (KJ). But, it is GONE in the NCV. 2Tim. 1:11 KJ: "... and a teacher OF THE GENTILES." NCV: "... and a teacher." COMMENT: The TARGET AUDIENCE for the Apostle Paul's ministry is OMITTED in the NCV. 2Tim. 2:15 KJ: "STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ..." NCV: "Make every effort to give yourself to God as the kind of person he will accept. ..." COMMENT: The NCV totally misses the point. We are to STUDY the word of God. 2Tim. 2:25 KJ: "... instructing those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES; ..." NCV: "... gently teach those who disagree. ..." COMMENT: The NCV is exactly backwards. 2Tim. 3:3 KJ: "... despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD," NCV: "They ... hate what is good," COMMENT: Quite a difference in the meaning of those two phrases. 2Tim. 4:1 KJ: "I charge [thee] therefore before God, AND THE LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NCV: "I give you a command in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, ..." Titus 1:4 KJ: "... from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus Christ our Saviour." NCV: "... from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior." Titus 3:10 KJ: "A man that is an HERETICK after the first and second admonition reject;" NCV: "After a first and second warning, avoid someone who causes arguments." COMMENT: The King James is correct: The one holding to false doctrine (the HERETICK) is to be rejected, NOT someone that 'causes arguments' (by exposing heretics). Note: POLITICAL CORRECTNESS has been INSERTED into the NCV. Philemon 6 KJ: "... every good thing which is in you in Christ JESUS." NCV: "... every blessing we have in Christ." COMMENT: What happened to JESUS? Heb. 1:3 KJ: (Jesus) "Who BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF [his] glory, and the express image of his person, ..." NCV: "The Son reflects the glory of God ..." COMMENT: "BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF" and reflecting it are two vastly different situations. Heb. 2:16 KJ: "For verily he (Jesus) took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham." NCV: "Clearly, it is not angels that Jesus helps, but the people who are from Abraham." COMMENT: The NCV is not close. Heb. 3:1 KJ: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the APOSTLE and High Priest of our profession, CHRIST Jesus." NCV: "So all of you holy brothers and sisters, who were called by God, think about Jesus, who was sent to us and is the high priest of our faith." COMMENT: "CHRIST" is omitted and Jesus as APOSTLE is left out. Heb. 3:16 KJ: "FOR SOME, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by Moses." NCV: "Who heard God's voice and was against him? It was ALL those people Moses led out of Egypt." COMMENT: The NCV is exactly opposite. Heb. 7:21 KJ: "... Thou [art] a priest for ever AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC:)" NCV: "... 'You are a priest forever.'" COMMENT: What kind of priest? We don't know from the NCV because "AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC" has been omitted. Heb. 10:14 KJ: "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that ARE SANCTIFIED." NCV: "With one sacrifice he made perfect forever those who are BEING MADE holy." Heb. 10:30 KJ: "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH THE LORD. ..." NCV: "We know that God said, 'I will punish those who do wrong; I will repay them.'..." Heb. 11:6 KJ: "... he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him." NCV: "... he rewards those who truly want to find him." COMMENT: We must DILIGENTLY seek him. James 5:16 KJ: "Confess [your] FAULTS one to another, ..." NCV: "Confess your sins to each other ..." COMMENT: The Bible says ONLY GOD can forgive sins. So, we confess our SINS to him. We should, however, confess our FAULTS to one another. Note: This doctrinal error in the NCV is ALSO in Catholic doctrine and practices. 1Peter 1:22 KJ: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT ..." NCV: "Now that you have made your souls pure by obeying the truth, ..." COMMENT: What happened to God's HOLY SPIRIT? Notice: The King James gives God's Holy Spirit the GLORY. The NCV credits man. 1Peter 2:2 KJ: "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may GROW THEREBY:" NCV: "As newborn babes want milk, you should want the pure and simple teaching. By it you can grow up and BE SAVED," COMMENT: WHAT? Read this very CAREFULLY. You see, 'newborn babes' ARE SAVED! They were saved RECENTLY. So why then do they need milk to grow up and BE SAVED? 1Peter 3:15 KJ: "But SANCTIFY the Lord GOD in your hearts: ..." NCV: "But respect Christ as the holy Lord in your hearts. ..." COMMENT: Is this ANOTHER attempt to do away with the DEITY of our Lord? Also notice: Sanctify (which is something HOLY) is watered down to just 'respect'. 1Peter 4:1 KJ: "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered FOR US in the flesh, ..." NCV: "Since Christ suffered while he was in his body, ..." COMMENT: Christ suffered FOR US. Kind of an important point, don't you think? 1Peter 4:14 KJ: "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS GLORIFIED." NCV: "When people insult you because you follow Christ, you are blessed, because the glorious Spirit, the Spirit of God, is with you." COMMENT: The NCV leaves out the words in capital letters, thus leaving out the GLORY God deserves. 1Peter 5:11 KJ: "To him [be] GLORY AND DOMINION for ever and ever. Amen." NCV: "All power is his forever and ever. Amen." 2Peter 2:1 KJ: "... there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES, ..." NCV: "... you will have some false teachers ... secretly teach things that are wrong- ..." COMMENT: The problem is that the false teachers will bring in HERESIES and the heresies will be DAMNABLE. 2Peter 2:17 KJ: "... to whom the mist of darkness is reserved FOR EVER." NCV: "... A place in the blackest darkness has been kept for them." COMMENT: FOR EVER is a LONG TIME. Yet, that part of the warning has been DELETED in the NCV. 1John 1:7 KJ: "... and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin." NCV: "... the blood of Jesus, God's Son, cleanses us from every sin." 1John 2:20 KJ: "But ye have an UNCTION from the Holy One, AND YE KNOW ALL THINGS." NCV: "You have the gift that the Holy One gave you, so you all know the truth." COMMENT: What gift? The NCV doesn't say. 1John 3:16 KJ: "Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD], ..." NCV: "This is how we know what real love is: Jesus gave his life for us. ..." 1John 4:3 KJ: "And every spirit that confesseth not that JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH is not of God: ..." NCV: "And every spirit who refuses to say THIS about Jesus is not from God. ..." COMMENT: What does 'this' mean in the NCV? The text that is missing in the NCV is included in the King James Bible. 1John 4:19 KJ: "We love HIM, because he first loved us." NCV: "We love because God first loved us." COMMENT: The NCV misses the topic, totally. "We love HIM, because he first loved us". 1John 5:6-7 KJ: "This is he that came BY WATER AND BLOOD, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three THAT BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE." NCV: "Jesus Christ is the One who came by water and blood. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit says that this is true, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 So, there are three witnesses that tell us about Jesus:" COMMENT: What three witnesses tell us about Jesus? Notice how verse 7 ends and seems to leave the reader hanging. The reader is left hanging because a large portion of verse 7 is MISSING. 1John 5:8 KJ: "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree IN ONE." NCV: "the Spirit, the water, and the blood; these three witnesses agree." COMMENT: Verse 8, like verse 7, is also messed up. 1John 5:13 KJ: "... that ye may know that ye have eternal life, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD." NCV: "... so you will know you have eternal life." COMMENT: No reason is given for text being omitted. 2John 1:3 KJ: "Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from THE LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." NCV: "Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, WILL BE with us in truth and love." COMMENT: We have grace, mercy, and peace RIGHT NOW, NOT 'will' have! Also, Jesus is "THE LORD". Rev. 1:9 KJ: "... and FOR the TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST." NCV: "... and the message about Jesus." COMMENT: Notice the CHANGE ... John wasn't SPEAKING 'ABOUT' Jesus; John was a vessel GIVING US the "TESTIMONY OF" Jesus. Rev. 1:11 KJ: "Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, ..." NCV: "The voice said, 'Write what you see in a book ...' COMMENT: Jesus as the ALPHA and OMEGA, the first and the last, is omitted. Rev. 5:14 KJ: "... And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER." NCV: "... and the elders bowed down and worshiped." COMMENT: Worshipped WHAT or WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil? WHO? The NCV doesn't say. But, in the King James Bible it is CLEAR: We worship him that "LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER"! Rev. 6:17 KJ: "For the great day of HIS WRATH is come; and who shall be able TO STAND?" NCV: "The great day of their anger has come, and who can stand against it?" COMMENT: There is quite a difference between 'their anger' and "HIS WRATH"! Also, being able to STAND (vs. sit) is different than being able to 'stand against'. Rev. 8:13 KJ: "... and heard AN ANGEL flying ... saying with a loud voice, ..." NCV: "... I heard an EAGLE that was flying ... cry out in a loud VOICE, 'Trouble! Trouble! Trouble ...'" COMMENT: How could ANY translator mis-translate ANGEL as eagle? And couldn't they catch their mis-translation when they said that the eagle was also TALKING? Rev. 11:17 KJ: "... We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, AND ART TO COME; ..." NCV: "... We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, ..." COMMENT: WHAT IS JESUS GOING TO DO? That's right: He is COMING AGAIN! But, the NCV omits it. Rev. 12:12 KJ: "... Woe to THE INHABITERS OF the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, ..." NCV: "... But it will be terrible for the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you! ..." COMMENT: There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in woe coming to the 'earth and sea' (NCV) vs. to the "INHABITERS OF" the earth and sea (KJ). Rev. 13:16 KJ: "And he causeth all, ... to receive a mark IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads:" NCV: "... forced all people, ... to have a mark ON their right hand or ON their forehead." COMMENT: The "mark of the beast" will be IN the right hand or IN the forehead (as in the possibility of a microchip, or something IN the skin that CANNOT be washed off, etc.). Note: Something ON the right hand or ON the forehead could be more easily REMOVED. Rev. 15:3 KJ: "... thou King OF SAINTS." NCV: "... King of the nations." COMMENT: SAINTS are ALL SAVED ... nations have some saved and some not. BIG DIFFERENCE in those two verses. Rev. 19:8 KJ: "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and WHITE: for the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints." NCV: "Fine linen, bright and clean, was given to her to wear. (The fine linen means the good things done by God's holy people.)" COMMENT: The linen of the saints is "WHITE" because WHITE symbolizes PURITY. 'Bright' could be ANY COLOR. Also, fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints (which GOD GAVE TO US and HE GETS THE GLORY for it). The fine linen IS NOT the righteous 'things' done by 'God's holy people' (which would give man the glory). Rev. 20:9 KJ: "... and fire came down FROM GOD out of heaven, ..." NCV: "... But fire came down from heaven ..." COMMENT: An important point: It was GOD that judged. Rev. 21:24 KJ: "And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED shall walk in the light of it: ..." NCV: "By its light the people of the world will walk, ..." COMMENT: There's a BIG difference in people "WHICH ARE SAVED" verses people 'of the nations'. Rev. 22:14 KJ: "BLESSED [are] they THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, ..." NCV: "Happy are those who wash their robes ..." COMMENT: What? 'Wash their robes'? Are those two verses the same? Brothers and sisters: If you want to be BLESSED, then DO HIS (Jesus') COMMANDMENTS! Amen? AMEN!
