In this analysis we will compare the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) ( 2005 edition ) to the King James Bible (KJ). K J V S. H C S B Gen. 2:7 KJ: "... and man became a living SOUL." HCSB: "... and the man became a living being." Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a SOUL. Gen. 2:13 KJ: "... land of ETHIOPIA." HCSB: "... land of Cush." Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush? Is the HCSB's 'Cush' a "simpler, more easily understandable word", than the King James' "ETHIOPIA"? Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." -------- HCSB: "'No! You will not die,' the serpent said to the woman. 'In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" -------- COMMENT: This is MAJOR blasphemy! God (with a big G) is NOT evil! Think about the difference. Gen. 6:8 KJ: "But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord." HCSB: "Noah, however, found favor in the eyes of the Lord." COMMENT: God's GRACE was extended in the Old Testament, too. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Noah's Ark. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/noahsark.htm There are people today that are looking for the ark on Mount Ararat. But, check your King James Bible. In Genesis 8:4 it says "the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountainS (plural) of Ararat". The amateur archeologist found the remains of Noah's Ark 12 miles from Mt. Ararat within the MOUNTAINS of Ararat. The Ark is 1 inch, that's right, 1 inch off from 300 cubits in length. Gen. 22:8 KJ: "And Abraham said, My son, God will PROVIDE HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering: ..." HCSB: "Abraham answered, 'God Himself will provide the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' ..." Comment: As the HCSB says, God himself did provide the lamb for a sacrifice. But, the HCSB totally misses the DEEPER, and MORE AMAZING TRUTH: GOD WAS the sacrifice! The King James wording is perfect: "God will PROVIDE HIMSELF" (in the form of his only begotten son Jesus Christ!) as the sacrifice. Gen. 24:47 KJ: "... and I put the EARRING UPON HER FACE, ..." HCSB: "... So I put the ring on her nose ..." COMMENT: The HCSB put WHAT on her nose? Gen. 49:10 KJ: "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, ... until SHILOH come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be]." HCSB: "... until He whose right it is comes ..." COMMENT: "SHILOH" here refers to Christ as Peace Maker. The HCSB robs him of his Messianic rule. Exodus 14:25 KJ: "And TOOK OFF their chariot wheels, ..." HCSB: "He caused their chariot wheels to swerve ..." COMMENT: Unlike what the HCSB says, God DID NOT cause the Egyptians' chariot wheels to just 'swerve'. The Egyptians could have recovered if they had 'swerved' and would have then CAUGHT UP with the Israelites. No, the KJ is correct: God TOOK OFF the Egyptians' chariot wheels! Deut. 23:17 KJ: "There shall be no ... SODOMITE of the sons of Israel." HCSB: "... no Israelite man is to be a cult prostitute." COMMENT: "SODOMITE" is CHANGED to 'cult prostitute'. There is a big difference between the two. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev. 18:22). But, the HCSB has removed sodomy. Deut. 32:22 KJ: "For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest HELL, ..." HCSB: "For fire has been kindled because of My anger and burns to the depths of Sheol; ..." COMMENT: HELL IS GONE, in this verse, in the HCSB. 1Sam. 6:19 KJ: "And HE SMOTE ... of the people FIFTY THOUSAND AND THREESCORE AND TEN MEN: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten [many] of the people with a GREAT SLAUGHTER." HCSB: "God struck down ... 70 men out of 50,000 men. The people wept because the Lord struck them with a great slaughter." COMMENT: Both the KJ and the HCSB said it was a GREAT SLAUGHTER. Now, slaying 70 (HCSB) IS NOT a 'great slaughter'. But, slaying 50,070 (KJ) IS. 2Sam. 14:14 KJ: "... neither doth God respect [any] person: ..." HCSB: "... But God would not take away a life; ..." COMMENT: Are those two verses ANYTHING alike? 2Sam. 16:4 KJ: "... And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH thee [that] I may find GRACE in thy sight, my lord, O king." HCSB: "... 'I bow before you,' Ziba said. 'May you look favorably on me, my lord the king!'" 2Sam. 21:19 KJ: "... Elhanan ... slew [THE BROTHER OF] Goliath ..." HCSB: "... Elhanan ... killed Goliath ..." COMMENT: WHAT? 'Elhanan killed Goliath'? Sunday school CHILDREN know that DAVID SLEW Goliath! The HCSB translation 'scholars' really blew this one. Oh, BTW, for a good book on the quality of the King James translators please see: "The Men Behind The KJV" by: Gustavus S. Paine ISBN: 0-8010-7008-2 published by Baker Book House. Scholar for scholar the translators of the KJ Bible were far greater men of God than any today. John Bois could read the Bible, in Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was fluent in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well as you and I know English (and better) etc. etc. 1Kings 14:24 KJ: "And there were also SODOMITES in the land: ..." HCSB: "there were even male shrine prostitutes in the land. ..." COMMENT: "SODOMITES" are changed to 'male shrine prostitutes'. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev. 18:22). But, the HCSB has removed sodomy. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/cities-of-the-plain.htm 1Kings 15:12 KJ: "And he took away the SODOMITES out of the land, ..." HCSB: "He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land ..." COMMENT: Again, the HCSB changes "SODOMITES" to 'male shrine prostitutes'. Sodomy is GONE, in the HCSB, here in 1Kings 15:12, AND in 1Kings 14:24, AND in 1Kings 22:46 AND in 2Kings 23:7. 1Kings 20:38 KJ: " ... with ASHES upon his FACE." HCSB: " ... with a bandage over his eyes." COMMENT: In English, "ASHES" and 'bandage' are two different words entirely. So are "FACE" and 'eyes'. Ezra 8:36 KJ: "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's LIEUTENANTS, ..." HCSB: "They also delivered the king's edicts to the royal satraps ..." COMMENT: Is the HCSB's 'satraps' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "LIEUTENANTS"? Psalm 2:12 KJ: "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, ..." HCSB: "Pay homage to the Son, ..." Psalm 9:17 KJ: "The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, ..." HCSB: "The wicked will return to Sheol- ..." COMMENT: The HCSB has DELETED hell. Is this an attempt to sell more HCSBs? Also, how will the wicked 'return' to Sheol if they have NEVER been there before? Psalm 12:6-7 KJ: "The WORDS OF THE LORD [are] pure words: ... THOU SHALT PRESERVE THEM ..." HCSB: "... You, Lord, will guard us; ..." COMMENT: This scripture is about GOD PRESERVING HIS WORDS, not protecting people! The HCSB blew this one. Psalm 48:10 KJ: "... thy right hand is full of RIGHTEOUSNESS." HCSB: "... Your right hand is filled with justice." Psalm 72:8 KJ: "He SHALL have dominion also FROM SEA TO SEA, ..." HCSB: "And may he rule from sea to sea ..." COMMENT: This verse is speaking of Christ as king and he "SHALL" have dominion (i.e. CERTAINTY) is watered down to only 'may' have rule. Psalm 72:11 KJ: "Yea, all kings SHALL fall down before him: ..." HCSB: "And let all kings bow down to him, ..." COMMENT: All kings "SHALL" fall down is watered down to 'let' all kings bow down. Psalm 78:36 KJ: "Nevertheless they did FLATTER HIM with their mouth, ..." HCSB: "But they DECEIVED Him with their mouths, ..." COMMENT: Here we see FALSE TEACHING in the HCSB. Unlike what the HCSB says, God CANNOT BE DECEIVED. Psalm 109:6 KJ: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let SATAN stand at his right hand." HCSB: "Set a wicked person over him; let an accuser stand at his right hand." COMMENT: Satan has been REMOVED, in this verse, in the HCSB. Eccl. 5:20 KJ: "... God ANSWERETH [HIM] in the joy of his heart." HCSB: "... God keeps him occupied with the joy of his heart." COMMENT: The HCSB translators blew this one. Isaiah 7:14 KJ: "... Behold, A virgin shall conceive, ..." HCSB: "... THE virgin will conceive, ..." COMMENT: 'THE virgin'? WHAT? Are you telling me there is ONLY ONE VIRGIN in ALL OF ISRAEL? No! No! No! The KJ is correct: There are many virgins in Israel BUT only ONE of them, "A VIRGIN", shall conceive. Isaiah 11:3 KJ: "And shall make him of quick understanding ..." HCSB: Omitted. COMMENT: The verse is speaking of JESUS and says that he shall be "of quick understanding". The HCSB omits this. Isaiah 14:12 KJ: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! ..." HCSB: "Shining morning star, how you have fallen from the heavens! ..." COMMENT: WHO is fallen from heaven? The HCSB doesn't say. The King James tells us: It's LUCIFER. Lucifer is GONE in the HCSB. Isaiah 32:2 KJ: "And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from the wind, ..." HCSB: "Each will be like a shelter from the wind, ..." COMMENT: The "MAN" here can be no one but CHRIST. Just another case of setting the Lord Jesus aside, and giving us a substitute. Think how serious all these corruptions are, and how they destroy the word of God by substitution. Isaiah 66:5 KJ: "... Let the Lord be glorified: BUT HE SHALL APPEAR TO YOUR JOY, and they shall be ashamed." HCSB: "... Let the Lord be glorified, so that we can see your joy! But they will be put to shame." COMMENT: The verse is about the Lord Jesus' appearing. The HCSB omits his APPEARING. Jer. 31:22 KJ: "... the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A WOMAN SHALL COMPASS A MAN." HCSB: "... For the Lord creates something new in the land - a female will shelter a man." COMMENT: The early church fathers are almost unanimous in interpreting this to refer to the virgin Mary 'compassing Christ' in her womb. Nothing like this before, that a child should be conceived without an earthly father. The HCSB destroys this truth here. Daniel 3:25 KJ: "... and the form of the fourth is like THE SON OF GOD." HCSB: "... and the fourth looks like a son of the gods." COMMENT: 'Looks like a son of the gods'? It was JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD, who was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Messach, and Abednego. It was Jesus Christ who protected them and it is Jesus Christ who PROTECTS US from the fiery furnace (i.e. from hell). Daniel 7:10 KJ: "... THE JUDGMENT WAS SET, and the books were opened." HCSB: "... The court was convened, and the books were opened." COMMENT: The JUDGMENT OF GOD has been removed. Hosea 13:9 KJ: "O Israel, THOU HAST DESTROYED THYSELF; but in me [is] thine help." HCSB: "I WILL DESTROY YOU, Israel; you have no help but Me." COMMENT: Here is a splendid example of how 'new versions' often say exactly the OPPOSITE of what was given by inspiration of God. Micah 5:2 KJ: "... Bethlehem ... out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose GOINGS FORTH [have been] from of old, from everlasting." HCSB: "... His ORIGIN is from antiquity, from eternity." COMMENT: This refers to the Lord Jesus and the HCSB makes him a CREATED BEING having an ORIGIN. How can a child of God stand before an audience and read from such a book? Zech. 9:9 KJ: "... behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having SALVATION; ..." HCSB: "... See, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, ..." COMMENT: Reference to Christ's SALVATION is removed. Zech. 11:17 KJ: "Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the flock! ..." HCSB: "Woe to the worthless shepherd who deserts the flock! ..." COMMENT: The scholars missed this one. Zech. 13:6 KJ: "And [one] shall say unto him, What [are] these wounds IN THINE HANDS? Then he shall answer, [Those] with which I was wounded [in] the house of my friends." HCSB: "If someone asks him: What are these wounds on your CHEST? - then he will answer: The wounds I received in the house of my friends." COMMENT: This is a verse prophesying Jesus Christ. Jesus was wounded IN HIS HANDS (and on his back), BUT NOT ON HIS CHEST! Mal. 3:6 KJ: "For I [am] the Lord, I CHANGE NOT; ..." HCSB: "Because I, Yahweh, have not changed, ..." COMMENT: 'Have not changed'? Notice the subtlety: The HCSB infers that God CAN change. That is NOT TRUE. Matt. 1:19 KJ: "Then Joseph ... not willing to make her (Mary) a publick example, was minded TO PUT HER AWAY privily." HCSB: "So her husband Joseph, ... decided to DIVORCE HER secretly." COMMENT: Think on this. What a DIFFERENCE! The meaning is far-reaching and a lot is involved. Matt. 1:25 KJ: "And knew her not till she had brought forth her FIRSTBORN son: ..." HCSB: "... until she gave birth to a son. ..." Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where Christ should be born." HCSB: "... and asked them where the Messiah would be born." COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY WITH HIM) did not 'ask' where Christ would be born. He "DEMANDED" to know! Matt. 5:22 KJ: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in danger of the judgment: ..." HCSB: "But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. ..." COMMENT: WHAT? The HCSB says you CAN'T be angry with your brother?!!! Brothers and sisters: The Apostle Paul was angry and withstood the Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus was angry with the Church at Pergamos because of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes (Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but sin not (Eph. 4:26). And it says not to let the sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26). The King James is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE is in danger of the judgment. There is a HUGE difference between those two verses. Matt. 5:44 KJ: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, BLESS THEM THAT CURSE YOU, DO GOOD TO THEM THAT HATE YOU, and pray for them which DESPITEFULLY USE YOU, and persecute you;" HCSB: "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," COMMENT: Major doctrine has been LEFT OUT of the HCSB. Matt. 7:14 KJ: "Because strait [is] the gate, and NARROW [is] the way, ..." HCSB: "How narrow is the gate and difficult the road ..." COMMENT: Jesus said his "yoke is EASY and his burden is LIGHT" (Matt. 11:30). So then, is 'difficult' the road? NO! "NARROW" is the way, as stated in the King James Bible. Matt. 8:19 KJ: "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, MASTER, I will follow thee ..." HCSB: "A scribe approached Him and said, 'Teacher, I will follow You ...'" COMMENT: Jesus as "MASTER" is watered down to just 'teacher'. I had many 'teachers' in school, but NONE of them were MASTER i.e. God Almighty in the flesh! Matt. 8:29 KJ: "... What have we to do we thee, JESUS, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" HCSB: "... 'What do You have to do with us, Son of God? ...'" COMMENT: Who came against the devils? The HCSB doesn't say. But, the KJ tells us: It was JESUS. Matt. 9:13 KJ: "... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners TO REPENTANCE." HCSB: "... For I didn't come to call the righteous, but sinners." COMMENT: HELL will get all of the sinners who DON'T repent. JESUS will get all the sinners who DO repent! Those last two words in the KJ ARE CRUCIAL. Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..." HCSB: "And you, Capernaum, ... will go down to Hades. ..." COMMENT: Hell is GONE (again) in the HCSB. Matt. 12:6 KJ: "... That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than the temple." HCSB: "But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here!" Matt. 12:32 KJ: "... but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither IN THIS WORLD, neither IN THE [WORLD] TO COME." HCSB: "... But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come." Matt. 12:40 KJ: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the WHALE'S belly; ..." HCSB: "For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ knew the difference between a "WHALE" and a 'fish'. Matt. 13:39 KJ: "... the harvest is the end of the WORLD; ..." HCSB: "... The harvest is the end of the age, ..." COMMENT: There is a DIFFERENCE between one age ending and another one beginning vs. the WORLD COMING TO AN END! As the KJ says: the harvest comes at the END OF THE WORLD. Matt. 16:3 KJ: "... O [YE] HYPOCRITES, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?" HCSB: "... You know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can't read the signs of the times." Matt. 16:18 KJ: "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the GATES OF HELL shall not prevail against it." HCSB: "... on this rock I will build My church, and the forces of Hades will not overpower it." COMMENT: HELL IS GONE (once again) in the HCSB. Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man IS COME to save that which was lost." HCSB: "For the Son of Man has come to save the lost." Comment: The HCSB says Jesus Christ 'has come' to save that which was lost: A PAST TENSE statement. The HCSB implies that ALL who were to be saved, HAVE BEEN saved. NOT TRUE! Anyone TODAY can be saved by Jesus! The correct reading is PRESENT TENSE. This HCSB corruption is very subtle. And, there are NUMEROUS places where the HCSB changes verb tense. Matt. 18:26 KJ: "The servant therefore fell down, and WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, LORD, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all." HCSB: "At this, the slave fell facedown before him and said, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you everything!'" COMMENT: The HCSB deletes WORSHIPPED HIM and also deletes LORD. Matt. 19:9 KJ: "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY." HCSB: "And I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery." COMMENT: An IMPORTANT verse about marriage, yet the HCSB omits about one third of it. Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..." HCSB: "Why do you ask Me about what is good? ..." Matt. 20:7 KJ: "... Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; AND WHATSOEVER IS RIGHT, [THAT] SHALL YE RECEIVE." HCSB: "'Because no one hired us,' they said to him. 'You also go to my vineyard,' he told them." COMMENT: The HCSB omits 1/2 the verse! And this omission makes it HARDER to understand the explanation given later in Matt. 20:13. Matt. 20:16 KJ: "So the last shall be first, and the first last: FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN." HCSB: "So the last will be first, and the first last." Matt. 20:20 KJ: "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, WORSHIPPING [him], ..." HCSB: "Then the mother of Zebedee's sons approached Him with her sons. She knelt down to ask him ..." COMMENT: Kneeling down to 'ask him' is not even close to WORSHIPPING him. Matt. 23:8 KJ: "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your MASTER, [even] Christ; ..." HCSB: "But as for you, do not be called 'Rabbi,' because you have one Teacher, ..." COMMENT: Jesus as "MASTER" is (again) watered down to just 'teacher'. Matt. 23:14 KJ: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the GREATER DAMNATION." HCSB: "... This is why you will receive a harsher punishment." COMMENT: DAMNATION is watered down to just 'punishment'. Matt. 24:3 KJ: "... Tell us, ... of the end of the WORLD ..." HCSB: "... Tell us, ... of the end of the age ..." COMMENT: Jesus ISN'T being asked about a "new time period" or a "new dispensation". He is being asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END. There is a difference. Matt. 25:13 KJ: "... ye know neither the day nor the hour WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH." HCSB: "... you don't know either the day or the hour." COMMENT: WHO IS COMING AGAIN? That's right: JESUS! But, you wouldn't know it from the HCSB. Matt. 27:4 KJ: "... I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD. ..." HCSB: "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood, ..." COMMENT: There are lots of men that are innocent of certain crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST was "THE" INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it. Matt. 27:35 KJ: "And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY THE PROPHET, THEY PARTED MY GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND UPON MY VESTURE DID THEY CAST LOTS." HCSB: "After crucifying Him they divided His clothes by casting lots." COMMENT: The HCSB omits this section of scripture documenting a FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY. Mark 1:2 KJ: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee." HCSB: "As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: ..." Comment: The verse being quoted here is NOT from Isaiah, as the HCSB says; it is from Malachi 3:1. Check it out. The King James has the correct reading which is: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS ..." (because Malachi was a prophet). Mark 3:5 KJ: "... his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE OTHER." HCSB: "... and his hand was restored." Mark 3:29 KJ: "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost ... is in danger of ETERNAL DAMNATION:" HCSB: "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit ... is guilty of an eternal sin-" COMMENT: This verse contains an IMPORTANT WARNING, but the HCSB waters it down. Mark 6:11 KJ: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY." HCSB: "If any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them." COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the HCSB leaves out about HALF of it. Mark 9:47 KJ: "... than having two eyes to be cast into hell FIRE:" HCSB: "... than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell," COMMENT: The HCSB waters down the SEVERITY OF HELL. Mark 10:21 KJ: "... and come, TAKE UP THE CROSS, and follow me." HCSB: "... Then come, follow Me." COMMENT: The Christian TAKES UP THE CROSS and dies (to their will) daily. The HCSB has DELETED this. Mark 10:24 KJ: "... Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!" HCSB: "... Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!" COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King James Bible, is: TRUSTING IN RICHES. Mark 11:10 KJ: "Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: Hosanna in the highest." HCSB: "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest Heaven!" Mark 11:26 KJ: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." HCSB: Mark 11:26 is placed in brackets stating that "Other manuscripts omit bracketed text." COMMENT: The "other manuscripts" probably refers to Aleph and B which are two of the worst MSS. Mark 12:40 KJ: "... and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive GREATER DAMNATION." HCSB: "... These will receive harsher punishment." COMMENT: The HCSB waters down "GREATER DAMNATION" to only 'harsher punishment'. Mark 13:6 KJ: "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." HCSB: "Many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' ..." COMMENT: CHRIST is SPECIFIC. 'He' could be ANYBODY. Mark 13:14 KJ: "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, ..." HCSB: "When you see the abomination that causes desolation ..." COMMENT: Another section of scripture that points to the FULFILLMENT OF A PROPHECY, but the HCSB omits it. Mark 13:33 KJ: "Take ye heed, watch AND PRAY: ..." HCSB: "Watch! Be alert! ..." COMMENT: What does the HCSB have against PRAYING? Mark 14:22 KJ: "... Take, EAT: this is my body." HCSB: "... Take it; this is My body." Mark 16:9-20 KJ: (All verses of Mark 16:9-20 are included) HCSB: Mark 16:9-20 is in brackets with the footnote: "Other manuscripts omit bracketed text." COMMENT: "Other MSS" probably refers to Aleph and B, two of the very worst MSS. Also, in the book, "The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark", John Burgeon has wrote over 400 pages proving conclusively that this section was in the original manuscripts. Burgeon's book remains unanswered and is unanswerable. Luke 1:28 KJ: "And the angel came in unto her, and said, HAIL, [THOU THAT ART] HIGHLY FAVOURED, the Lord [is] with thee: BLESSED [ART] THOU AMONG WOMEN." HCSB: "And the angel came to her and said, 'Rejoice, favored woman! The Lord is with you.'" COMMENT: Mary was "HIGHLY FAVOURED" not just 'favored'. Also, Mary was BLESSED AMONG WOMEN. The HCSB waters down this verse. Luke 2:22 KJ: "And when the days of HER PURIFICATION ... were accomplished, ..." HCSB: "And when the days of THEIR purification ... were finished, ..." COMMENT: WHAT? The HCSB MAKES JESUS A SINNER (by requiring purification FOR HIM). The King James is correct: The purification WAS FOR MARY, and for HER ONLY. Luke 2:33 KJ: "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." HCSB: "His father and mother were amazed at what was being said about Him." COMMENT: GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST - NOT Joseph! If Jesus had only an earthly father and mother, then he is just any man. If he is just any man, then we are still in our sins. If we are still in our sins, then we are not saved! If we are not saved, then we have a BIG, BIG, problem! Luke 2:49 KJ: "... I must be about my Father's BUSINESS ..." HCSB: "... Didn't you know that I had to be in My Father's house?" COMMENT: Come on! Don't the "scholars" know the difference between "BUSINESS" and a 'house'? Also, since Jesus is our example, the HCSB would have us to ALWAYS be in our Father's HOUSE. We do not have to always be in a house, but we should ALWAYS be about the Father's BUSINESS (WHEREVER that is). Luke 4:4 KJ: "... man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD." HCSB: "... Man must not live on bread alone." COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need? The HCSB doesn't say. But, the King James tells us: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD! Luke 4:8 KJ: "And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." HCSB: "And Jesus answered him, 'It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only." COMMENT: The HCSB omits "Get thee behind me, Satan." Luke 4:18 KJ: "The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to PREACH THE GOSPEL to the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," HCSB: Luke 4:18 omits "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,". Also, the HCSB changes GOSPEL to 'good news". COMMENT: The HCSB omits "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,". Also, we are the preach the GOSPEL which is SPECIFIC (KJ), not just any generic 'good news' (HCSB). Luke 9:55-56 KJ: "But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they went to another village." HCSB: "But He turned and rebuked them," COMMENT: A MAJOR PORTION of scripture has been omitted. The HCSB casts doubt on the authenticity of another scripture. Luke 10:15 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, ... shalt be thrust down to HELL." HCSB: "And you, Capernaum, ... will go down to Hades!" COMMENT: HELL is GONE in this verse in the HCSB. Luke 11:2 KJ: "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH." HCSB: "He said to them, 'Whenever you pray, say: Father, Your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come.'" Luke 11:4 KJ: "... And lead us not into temptation; BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL." HCSB: "... And do not bring us into temptation." COMMENT: The HCSB leaves out BEING DELIVERED FROM EVIL. I want to be delivered from evil! How about you? Luke 11:29 KJ: "... but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET." HCSB: "... except the sign of Jonah." Luke 16:23 KJ: "And in HELL he lift up his eyes, ..." HCSB: "And being in torment in Hades, ..." COMMENT: "HELL" has been CHANGED to 'Hades' in this verse in the HCSB. Luke 21:8 KJ: "... for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." HCSB: "... For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' ..." COMMENT: Who is this 'He'? Luke 21:36 KJ: "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted WORTHY to escape all these things ..." HCSB: "But be alert at all times, praying that you may have STRENGTH to escape all these things ..." COMMENT: Like the KJ says: We need to be accounted WORTHY to escape all these things ... Luke 23:23 KJ: "... And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF PRIESTS prevailed." HCSB: "... And their voices won out." Luke 23:42 KJ: "And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." HCSB: "Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!'" COMMENT: Why leave out "LORD"? The thief GOT SAVED, so of course he addressed Jesus as LORD! Luke 23:45 KJ: "And the sun was DARKENED, ..." HCSB: "because the sun's light failed. ..." COMMENT: How did the sun's light 'fail'? The King James lets us know: The sun was DARKENED. Luke 24:46 KJ: "... and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer, ..." HCSB: "... the Messiah would suffer ..." COMMENT: The HCSB misses a HUGE POINT: It "BEHOVED" Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY. John 1:3 KJ: "All things were made BY him; ..." HCSB: "All things were created through Him, ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'through' are totally different. Think about it. John 1:10 KJ: "He was in the world, and the world was made BY him, ..." HCSB: "... and the world was created through Him, ..." COMMENT: Again, "BY" and 'through' are not the same. John 1:14 KJ: "... (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father,) ..." HCSB: "... We observed His glory, the glory as of the One and Only Son from the Father, ..." COMMENT: God has MORE THAN ONE SON. Every male that is saved is a SON of God! The King James is right: Jesus was the ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father. John 1:42 KJ: "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE." HCSB: "and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, He said, 'You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas' (which means Rock)." COMMENT: The HCSB says that Cephas means Rock. This is DISASTROUS. The correct reading is in the KJ where Jesus calls Peter "A STONE". Jesus did that to DIFFERENTIATE Peter (A STONE) from Jesus who is THE TRUE ROCK (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says: upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring to Peter! And that is just one of many errors in current day, Catholic doctrine. John 3:13 KJ: "And NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven." HCSB: "No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven - the Son of Man." COMMENT: Not true, HCSB. Remember the angels on Jacob's ladder? They ascended and descended. The King James has the correct reading and it is: NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven ... Also, SATAN WENT INTO HEAVEN and made accusations against Job (Job 1:6). Remember? John 3:15 KJ: "That whosoever believeth in him SHOULD NOT PERISH, but have eternal life." HCSB: "so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life." COMMENT: NOT PERISHING is important, don't you think? John 3:16 KJ: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son, ..." HCSB: "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, ..." COMMENT: Believers in God are called his sons and daughters. God did NOT give his ONE AND ONLY son. He has MANY sons. God gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son. John 4:24 KJ: "God [is] A Spirit: ..." HCSB: "God is spirit, ..." COMMENT: For the HCSB to say: 'God is spirit' infers that ALL spirits are of God. NOT true. There are EVIL SPIRITS. But in God, there is NO evil. So, the King James is correct: God is "A" Spirit. John 5:16 KJ: "And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done these things on the sabbath day." HCSB: "Therefore, the Jews began persecuting Jesus because He was doing these things on the Sabbath." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting this phrase or for brushing over the fact that the Jews wanted to MURDER Jesus. John 5:29 KJ: "... and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of DAMNATION." HCSB: "... but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of judgment." COMMENT: The HCSB waters down "DAMNATION" to only 'judgment'. John 6:33 KJ: "For the bread of God is HE which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world." HCSB: "For the bread of God is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." John 6:47 KJ: "... He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting life." HCSB: "... Anyone who believes has eternal life." COMMENT: Anyone that believes WHO, or WHAT? The HCSB doesn't say. The KJ tells us: We MUST believe ON JESUS. John 6:69 KJ: "And we believe and ARE SURE that thou art that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD." HCSB: "We have come to believe and know that You are the Holy One of God!" COMMENT: What happened to CHRIST? And, what happened to him being the Son of the LIVING GOD? John 8:9 KJ: "And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by one, ..." HCSB: "When they heard this, they left one by one, ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this phrase. John 8:36 KJ: "If the Son therefore shall MAKE you free, ye shall be free indeed." HCSB: "Therefore if the Son SETS you free, you really will be free." COMMENT: Jesus did not (passively) 'set' us free; NO, he TOOK ACTION and MADE us free. We had to be BORN AGAIN! To FIX US Jesus had to START OVER FROM SCRATCH! The HCSB waters down the incredible work Jesus did for us. John 8:59 KJ: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, AND SO PASSED BY." HCSB: "At that, they picked up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus was hidden and went out of the temple complex." COMMENT: Quite a different thought. John 9:4 KJ: "I must work the works of him that sent me, ..." HCSB: "We must do the works of Him who sent Me ..." John 9:35 KJ: "... Dost thou believe on the SON OF GOD?" HCSB: "... Do you believe in the Son of Man?" COMMENT: NO ONE had a problem believing that Jesus was the son of man. It was Jesus' DEITY they had a problem believing. John 10:30 KJ: "I and [MY] Father are one." HCSB: "The Father and I are one." COMMENT: The KJ's "MY" Father is GONE and is replaced by 'the' father. Thus, the HCSB deletes the PERSONAL relationship of "MY FATHER" between Jesus and the heavenly Father. John 11:41 KJ: "Then they took away the stone [FROM THE PLACE] WHERE THE DEAD WAS LAID. ..." HCSB: "So they removed the stone. ..." COMMENT: It's NOT a miracle if Lazarus isn't DEAD. John 14:2 KJ: "In my Father's house are MANY MANSIONS: ..." HCSB: "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; ..." COMMENT: If Jesus thinks your work for him was worthy, wouldn't you want a "MANSION" instead of just a 'dwelling place'? The HCSB waters down one of the possible REWARDS from God. John 14:16 KJ: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another COMFORTER, ..." HCSB: "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor ..." John 14:26 KJ: "But the COMFORTER, [which is] the Holy Ghost, ..." HCSB: "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit- ..." John 15:26 KJ: "But when the COMFORTER is come, ..." HCSB: "When the Counselor comes, ..." John 16:7 KJ: "... for if I go not away, the COMFORTER will not come ..." HCSB: "... if I don't go away the Counselor will not come ..." John 16:16 KJ: "A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, BECAUSE I GO TO THE FATHER." HCSB: "A little while and you will no longer see Me; again a little while and you will see Me." COMMENT: Jesus' prophecy, about himself, is corrupted in the HCSB. Acts 2:30 KJ: "... that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit on his throne;" HCSB: "... to seat one of his descendants on his throne." COMMENT: The HCSB totally misses the point. It wasn't just a 'descendant' that would sit on the throne; it was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ)! Acts 2:31 KJ: "He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left IN HELL, neither his flesh did see corruption." HCSB: "Seeing this in advance, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah: He was not left in Hades, and His flesh did not experience decay." COMMENT: The HCSB DELETES HELL (again). Acts 2:47 KJ: "... And the Lord ADDED TO THE CHURCH daily such as SHOULD BE saved." HCSB: "... the Lord added to them those who were BEING SAVED." COMMENT: The people were added to THE CHURCH (not to a generic 'them'). Also, salvation is an IMMEDIATE event. It is NOT A PROCESS. People are either saved or they are not. They are NOT 'being' saved (HCSB). Acts 3:13 KJ: "The God of Abraham, ... hath glorified HIS SON Jesus; ..." HCSB: "The God of Abraham, ... has glorified His Servant Jesus, ..." COMMENT: Jesus AS GOD'S SON has been watered down to just a 'servant'. Acts 3:26 KJ: "... God, having raised up HIS SON JESUS, ..." HCSB: "God raised up His Servant ..." COMMENT: Again, the HCSB waters down Jesus AS GOD'S SON, to just a 'servant'. And, this time, the name Jesus isn't even MENTIONED. Acts 4:13 KJ: "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and IGNORANT men, ..." HCSB: "When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, ..." COMMENT: Untrained? Untrained? Peter and John had been WITH JESUS. They had been trained by GOD ALMIGHTY, THE BEST TRAINER in the UNIVERSE! They were, however, ignorant (as the KJ states). Acts 4:25 KJ: "... Why did the HEATHEN rage, and the people imagine vain things?" HCSB: "... Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot futile things?" COMMENT: It wasn't 'Gentiles' that raged. It was the "HEATHEN". Acts 4:27 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, ..." HCSB: "... Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed," COMMENT: Again, the HCSB waters down Jesus. This time GOD'S HOLY CHILD is watered down to just a holy 'Servant'. Acts 4:30 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus." HCSB: "... Your holy Servant Jesus." COMMENT: One more time: The HCSB waters down Jesus as GOD'S HOLY CHILD to just a holy 'Servant'. Acts 8:9 KJ: "... a certain man, ... used sorcery, and BEWITCHED the people ..." HCSB: "A man named Simon had previously practiced sorcery ... and astounded the Samaritan people, ..." COMMENT: No! No! No! He didn't 'astound' the people (as if they were being entertained/amazed). No, he BEWITCHED them (to their detriment). Acts 8:37 KJ: "And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD." HCSB: Acts 8:37 is placed in BRACKETS casting doubt upon its relevancy. COMMENT: This verse shows THE REQUIREMENT for water baptism, namely: BELIEVING THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. But, both Codex Aleph and B leave this verse out; and they are TWO OF THE WORST manuscripts. This is a good example of the SPIRITUAL BATTLE that surrounds the word of God. Acts 9:5-6 KJ: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." HCSB: "'Who are You, Lord?' he said. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting' He replied. 'But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.'" COMMENT: Truly the translators have emasculated these two verses and give no reason at all for their omission. Again they would inject a doubt into the mind of anyone who believes the Bible to be the verbally inspired word of God. Acts 9:20 KJ: "And straightway he preached CHRIST ..." HCSB: "Immediately he began proclaiming Jesus ..." COMMENT: "CHRIST" is missing. Acts 10:37 KJ: "THAT WORD, [I say], ye know, which was PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;" HCSB: "You know the events that took place throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached:" COMMENT: The HCSB is VAGUE. It says: 'you know the events that took place ...' but then doesn't say WHAT EVENTS TOOK PLACE! The King James tells us: THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA. Acts 12:4 KJ: "... after EASTER ..." HCSB: "... after the Passover." COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King. He did NOT regard Passover! He would have regarded EASTER, though. Note: Easter and Passover are NOT the same. Easter is PAGAN. Passover is BIBLICAL. Acts 15:11 KJ: "But we believe that through the GRACE of the Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they." HCSB: "On the contrary, we believe we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way they are." COMMENT: What happened to "CHRIST"? Acts 15:18 KJ: "KNOWN UNTO GOD ARE ALL HIS WORKS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD." HCSB: "which have been known from long ago." Acts 15:34 KJ: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still." HCSB: Omitted. COMMENT: Numbering verses 32, 33, and then 35 ... is NOT new math. Acts 16:31 KJ: "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." HCSB: "So they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household.'" COMMENT: Again, they omit "CHRIST". Acts 17:22 KJ: "Then Paul stood in the midst of MARS' HILL, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS." HCSB: "Then Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said: 'Men of Athens! I see that you are extremely religious in every respect." Comment: Being 'extremely religious' and "TOO SUPERSTITIOUS" are entirely different! Also, is the HCSB's 'Areopagus' "simpler and more understandable" than the King James' MARS' HILL? Acts 17:29 KJ: "... we ought not to think that the GODHEAD is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, ..." HCSB: "... we shouldn't think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone, ..." COMMENT: The "GODHEAD" is watered down to just 'divine nature'. Acts 18:12 KJ: "And when Gallio was the DEPUTY of Achaia, ..." HCSB: "While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, ..." COMMENT: Is the HCSB's 'proconsul' a "simpler, and more easily understood word", than the King James' DEPUTY? Acts 18:21 KJ: "But bade them farewell, saying, I MUST BY ALL MEANS KEEP THIS FEAST that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. ..." HCSB: "but said good-bye and stated, 'I'll come back to you again, if God wills.' ..." COMMENT: The requirement to KEEP BIBLICAL FEASTS is GONE in this verse in the HCSB. Acts 19:35 KJ: "... the city of the Ephesians is a WORSHIPPER of the great goddess Diana, ..." HCSB: "... the city of the Ephesians is the temple guardian of the great Artemis, ..." COMMENT: The HCSB waters down the IDOLATRY of the Ephesians. Acts 20:23-24 KJ: "... the Holy Ghost witnesseth ... that bonds and afflictions abide me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, ..." HCSB: "BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME," is omitted with no reason given. COMMENT: The Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED by his circumstances. So, he was able to preach the Gospel with BOLDNESS. And we know this, NOT from the HCSB, but from the King James Bible. May we have the SAME ATTITUDE as the Apostle Paul and may we also preach with BOLDNESS! Acts 23:9 KJ: "... let us not fight against God." HCSB: Omitted. COMMENT: Some GOOD ADVICE in the KJ, don't you think? Acts 24:14 KJ: "But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call HERESY, so worship I the God of my fathers, ..." HCSB: "But I confess this to you: that according to the Way, which they call a sect, so I worship my fathers' God, ..." COMMENT: The unbelievers who came against the Apostle Paul did NOT think Christianity was a 'sect'. No, they thought it was HERESY. Acts 24:15 KJ: "... that there shall be a resurrection OF THE DEAD, both of the just and unjust." HCSB: "... that there is going to be a resurrection, both of the righteous and the unrighteous." Acts 28:29 KJ: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves." HCSB: Acts 28:29 is in BRACKETS casting doubt upon it. COMMENT: The VAST MAJORITY of manuscripts have this verse! This is still another doubt cast upon the word of God. Romans 1:16 KJ: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel OF CHRIST: ..." HCSB: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, ..." COMMENT: Whose gospel? The key words are: OF CHRIST. The HCSB leaves us guessing. Romans 1:18 KJ: "... men, who HOLD THE TRUTH in unrighteousness;" HCSB: "... who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth," Romans 1:25 KJ: "Who CHANGED the truth of God into a lie, ..." HCSB: "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, ..." COMMENT: Those two verses are NOT the same. Romans 6:18 KJ: "Being then made free from sin, ye became the SERVANTS of righteousness." HCSB: "and having been liberated from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! Think about the difference. Romans 6:19 KJ: "... now yield your members SERVANTS to righteousness ..." HCSB: "... so now offer them as slaves to righteousness, ..." COMMENT: Again, are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! There is a difference. Romans 6:22 KJ: "But now being made free from sin, and become SERVANTS to God, ..." HCSB: "But now, since you have been liberated from sin and become enslaved to God, ..." COMMENT: What? 'Slaves of God'? No! No! No! We are "SERVANTS" to God, as properly stated in the King James Bible. Romans 8:1 KJ: "[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT." HCSB: "Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus," COMMENT: AN IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION is in the second half of the verse. But, the HCSB omits it. Romans 10:17 KJ: "So then faith [cometh] by hearing, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD." HCSB: "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ." Romans 13:2 KJ: "Whosoever ... resisteth the ordinance of God: ... shall receive to themselves DAMNATION." HCSB: "So then, the one who resists the authority ... will bring judgment on themselves." COMMENT: The HCSB waters down this WARNING. Romans 13:9 KJ: "... Thou shalt not bear false witness, ..." HCSB: Omitted. COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (false witnesses) go to the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). So, why leave this out? Romans 16:24 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen." HCSB: This verse is in BRACKETS casting doubt upon it. COMMENT: The vast majority of manuscripts have this verse. 1Cor. 1:18 KJ: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God." HCSB: "For to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God's power." COMMENT: 'Being saved'? The HCSB is teaching AGAIN that salvation is a PROCESS. NOT TRUE. It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. 1Cor. 1:21 KJ: "... it pleased God by the FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe." HCSB: "... God was pleased to save those who believe through the FOOLISHNESS OF THE MESSAGE preached." COMMENT: Contrary to what the HCSB says, THE GOSPEL MESSAGE IS NOT FOOLISHNESS. 1Cor. 1:22 KJ: "For the Jews REQUIRE a sign, ..." HCSB: "For the Jews ask for signs ..." 1Cor. 5:4 KJ: "In the name of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST," HCSB: "In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, along with my spirit and with the power of our Lord Jesus," COMMENT: IN TWO CASES THE NAME "CHRIST" is omitted with no reason given. Why do the translators dislike the name "CHRIST" so much? Are translators of 'new versions' even saved? 1Cor. 5:7 KJ: "... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed FOR US:" HCSB: "... For Christ our Passover has been sacrificed." COMMENT: If Christ is not sacrificed FOR US we cannot be saved! Those last two words are CRITICAL. 1Cor. 6:9-10 KJ: "... Be not deceived: neither fornicators, ... NOR EFFEMINATE, ... shall inherit the kingdom of God." HCSB: "Nor effeminate" has been omitted in HCSB. 1Cor. 6:20 KJ: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore GLORIFY God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S." HCSB: "for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body." COMMENT: Another portion of scripture has been omitted with no reason given. 1Cor. 7:5 KJ: "... give yourselves to FASTING and prayer; ..." HCSB: "... devote yourselves to prayer. ..." COMMENT: What does the HCSB have against FASTING? 1Cor. 7:39 KJ: "The wife is bound BY THE LAW as long as her husband liveth; ..." HCSB: "A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. ..." 1Cor. 9:1 KJ: "... have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord? ..." HCSB: "... Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? ..." COMMENT: Again, no reason is given for omitting "CHRIST". 1Cor. 9:27 KJ: "But I keep ... my body, ... into subjection: lest ... I myself should be a CASTAWAY." HCSB: "Instead, I discipline my body ... so that ... I myself will not be disqualified." COMMENT: Being a "CASTAWAY" and being 'disqualified' are VERY DIFFERENT. Think about it. 1Cor. 10:28 KJ: "... FOR THE EARTH [IS] THE LORD'S, AND THE FULNESS THEREOF:" HCSB: This section of scripture, concerning GOD'S SOLE OWNERSHIP OF THE EARTH, is omitted, in this verse, in the HCSB. 1Cor. 11:24 KJ: "And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, WHICH IS BROKEN for you: ..." HCSB: "gave thanks, broke it, and said, 'This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.'" COMMENT: The HCSB misses a HUGE point: Jesus Christ's body was BROKEN for us. 1Cor. 11:29 KJ: "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh DAMNATION to himself, ..." HCSB: "For whoever eats and drinks without recognizing the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself." COMMENT: The HCSB waters down God's WARNING. 1Cor. 15:45 KJ: "... The first man Adam was made a living SOUL; ..." HCSB: "... The first man Adam became a living being; ..." COMMENT: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". 1Cor. 16:22 KJ: "If any man love not the Lord JESUS CHRIST, let him be Anathema Maranatha." HCSB: "If any one does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. ... " COMMENT: Leaving out "JESUS CHRIST" leaves us guessing as to whom the HCSB wants us to love. 1Cor. 16:23 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with you." HCSB: "The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you." COMMENT: Why do they keep eliminating the name "CHRIST"? Grace doesn't come from everyone named 'Jesus', but only from the ONE AND ONLY: JESUS CHRIST! 2Cor. 2:15 KJ: "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that ARE SAVED, ..." HCSB: "For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved ..." COMMENT: Again? The HCSB is teaching salvation is a PROCESS. NO! It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. 2Cor. 2:17 KJ: "For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: ..." HCSB: "For we are not like the many who make a trade in God's message for profit, ..." COMMENT: Profiting from the word of God and CORRUPTING the word of God are VERY DIFFERENT. 'New' versions try and hide from the truth they have been, and are, CORRUPTING the word of God. 2Cor. 5:17 KJ: "... behold, all things ARE BECOME new." HCSB: "... new things have come." COMMENT: The HCSB CHANGES VERB TENSE to past tense. This is incorrect as the Christian walk is a DAILY (present tense) walk where all things ARE BECOME new. New situations happen for the Christian DAILY. This verse is not the only place where the HCSB changes verb tense. 2Cor. 10:4-5 KJ: "... Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing ..." HCSB: "... We demolish arguments ..." COMMENT: It's IMAGINATIONS that can sometimes BAIT US into sin. 2Cor. 11:31 KJ: "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, ..." HCSB: "... the God and Father of the Lord Jesus, ..." COMMENT: We ask in all sincerity, "Are the translators anxious to get rid of the name CHRIST altogether?" Gal. 2:19-20 KJ: "... I AM CRUCIFIED with Christ: nevertheless I LIVE; ..." HCSB: "... I have been crucified with Christ; ..." COMMENT: The HCSB says their crucifixion is over! NOT TRUE. The believer's crucifixion is an ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction. Also, we are not dead the way the HCSB implies. Gal. 3:1 KJ: "O FOOLISH Galatians, who hath BEWITCHED you, THAT YE SHOULD NOT OBEY THE TRUTH, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?" HCSB: "You foolish Galatians! Who has hypnotized you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified?" COMMENT: Being 'hypnotized' (HCSB) and being BEWITCHED (KJ) are NOT the same. Also, OBEYING BIBLICAL TRUTH has been omitted, in this verse, in the HCSB. Gal. 5:12 KJ: "I would they were even cut off which trouble you." HCSB: "I wish those who are disturbing you might also get themselves CASTRATED!" COMMENT: WHAT? The Apostle Paul wanted some people to be 'CASTRATED'? What kind of PERVERSION is the HCSB teaching? Gal. 6:17 KJ: "... for I bear IN my body the marks of the LORD JESUS." HCSB: "... I carry the marks of Jesus ON my body." COMMENT: Apparently, the translators don't like the name "LORD" either. Also, the marks of the Lord Jesus are INSIDE our body, NOT outside. We're NOT talking cattle branding here! Eph. 1:6 KJ: "... he hath made us ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED." HCSB: "... He favored us with in the Beloved." COMMENT: Favoring us 'with in' the beloved does not tell us how we originally GOT INTO the beloved. We came INTO the beloved because he ACCEPTED us. Eph. 3:14 KJ: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST," HCSB: "... I bow my knees before the Father" COMMENT: Which Father is the HCSB talking about? SATAN is a FATHER (the "father" of lies). The King James tells us which father it is: It is the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. Eph. 5:1 KJ: "Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, ..." HCSB: "Therefore, be imitators of God, ..." Comment: The HCSB documents Satan's position EXACTLY. Think about it: Only Satan tries to imitate God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God. In Isa. 14:14 it quotes Satan as saying: "... I will BE LIKE the most high.". Born again believers cannot imitate God. We can't run the universe! We can only FOLLOW God. Remember, Jesus DID NOT tell his "fishers of men" to imitate him. Jesus said: "FOLLOW ME". Eph. 5:9 KJ: "(For the fruit of the SPIRIT [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" HCSB: "for the fruit of the light results in all goodness, righteousness, and truth-" COMMENT: "SPIRIT" and 'light' are NOT the same. So, WHAT and/or WHO is this supposed 'light'? Eph. 5:30 KJ: "For we are members of his body, OF HIS FLESH, AND OF HIS BONES." HCSB: "since we are members of His body." Philip. 2:6 KJ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD:" HCSB: "who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage." COMMENT: Those two verses are DIFFERENT. Philip. 3:8 KJ: "... DUNG, ..." HCSB: "... filth, ..." COMMENT: I might have filth on top of my office desk, but I don't want "DUNG" there!!! Philip. 3:21 KJ: "Who shall change our VILE BODY, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, ..." HCSB: "He will transform the body of our humble condition ..." COMMENT: 'Humble condition'? The problem is that our bodies are "VILE". Our HEART is desperately WICKED (Jer. 17:9). Our FLESH is SINFUL (Romans 8:3). There is NO GOOD THING that dwells in our FLESH (Romans 7:18) etc. Col. 1:14 KJ: "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:" HCSB: "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." COMMENT: HCSB omits "through his blood," Why omit the blood? This omission can be traced, as usual, to the manuscripts described as "Neutral Texts" by Westcott and Hort. These are in agreement with the Vatican and Sinaitic manuscripts: two of the WORST manuscripts. Remember: Without the shedding of blood there is NO REMISSION (Heb. 9:22). Col. 2:2 KJ: "... to the acknowledgement of the mystery OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;" HCSB: "... and have the knowledge of God's mystery -Christ." COMMENT: God THE FATHER is omitted. Col. 2:9 KJ: "For IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY." HCSB: "For in Him the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily," COMMENT: The HCSB makes God SEPARATE from Christ. The King James makes Christ God, as Christ is part of the Godhead. Col. 2:11 KJ: "... in putting off the body of THE SINS OF the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:" HCSB: "... by putting off the body of flesh, in the circumcision of the Messiah." Col. 3:2 KJ: "Set your AFFECTION on things above, ..." HCSB: "Set your minds on what is above, ..." COMMENT: The 'mind' CAN BE an issue. But, the BIGGER ISSUE is our AFFECTIONS (i.e. our HEART) as properly stated in the King James Bible. See also Proverbs 4:23. 1Thes. 2:19 KJ: "... in the presence of our Lord Jesus CHRIST at his coming?" HCSB: "... in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? ..." 1Thes. 3:11 KJ: "Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you." HCSB: "Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you." 1Thes. 5:22 KJ: "Abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil." HCSB: "Stay away from every form of evil." COMMENT: We SHOULD stay away from every 'form' of evil. But, MORE THAN THAT, we are to abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil. 1Tim. 1:1 KJ: "... and LORD Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;" HCSB: "... and of Christ Jesus, our hope:" 1Tim. 1:17 KJ: "... the only WISE God, [be] honour and glory ..." HCSB: "... the only God, be honor and glory ..." 1Tim. 3:16 KJ: "... GOD was manifest in the flesh, ..." HCSB: "... He was manifested in the flesh, ..." COMMENT: The HCSB misses a HUGE point: It was GOD that was manifested in the flesh. 1Tim. 5:21 KJ: "I charge [thee] before God, and THE LORD Jesus Christ, ..." HCSB: "I solemnly charge you, before God and Christ Jesus ..." 1Tim. 6:1 KJ: "... that the name of God and [his] DOCTRINE be not blasphemed." HCSB: "... so that God's name and His teaching will not be blasphemed." COMMENT: I can 'teach' 2+2=4 but that is NOT Biblical "DOCTRINE". 1Tim. 6:5 KJ: "... men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, SUPPOSING THAT GAIN IS GODLINESS: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF." HCSB: "... men whose minds are depraved and deprived of the truth, WHO IMAGINE THAT GODLINESS IS A WAY TO MATERIAL GAIN." COMMENT: The HCSB twists this verse. Re-read it carefully. Also, the commandment: "From such withdraw thyself" is omitted. 1Tim. 6:10 KJ: "For the love of money is THE root of all evil: ..." HCSB: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, ..." COMMENT: There is a big difference between the HCSB's 'a' root and the correct King James reading of "THE" root. 1Tim. 6:19 KJ: "... that they may lay hold on ETERNAL LIFE." HCSB: "... that they may take hold of life that is real." COMMENT: 'Real life' on this earth DOES NOT COMPARE to "ETERNAL LIFE"! 1Tim. 6:20 KJ: "... avoiding ... oppositions of SCIENCE falsely so called:" HCSB: "... avoiding ... contradictions from the 'knowledge' that falsely bears that name." COMMENT: It's NOT 'knowledge' that sometimes attacks the gospel, it's "SCIENCE" falsely so called. For example: The theory of evolution, which, BTW, has been proven wrong at some good creationist web sites, like: http://www.drdino.com http://www.answersingenesis.org http://www.icr.org 2Tim. 1:7 KJ: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND." HCSB: "For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment." COMMENT: God has given us a sound MIND (KJ). But, it is GONE in the HCSB. 2Tim. 1:11 KJ: "... and a teacher OF THE GENTILES." HCSB: "... and teacher," COMMENT: Paul's target ministry is GONE in the HCSB. 2Tim. 2:15 KJ: "STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ..." HCSB: "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, ..." COMMENT: We are supposed to STUDY the word of God. 2Tim. 2:25 KJ: "... instructing those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES; ..." HCSB: "instructing HIS OPPONENTS with gentleness. ..." COMMENT: The HCSB is exactly backwards. 2Tim. 3:3 KJ: "... despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD," HCSB: "... without love for what is good," COMMENT: Quite a difference in the meaning of those two phrases. 2Tim. 4:1 KJ: "I charge [thee] therefore before God, AND THE LORD Jesus Christ, ..." HCSB: "Before God and Christ Jesus, ..." Titus 1:4 KJ: "... from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus Christ our Saviour." HCSB: "... from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior." Titus 3:10 KJ: "A man that is an HERETICK after the first and second admonition reject;" HCSB: "Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning," COMMENT: 'Reject a divisive person' What? JESUS CHRIST was divisive!!! The KJ is correct: The one holding to false doctrine (the HERETICK) is the one to be rejected, NOT the one exposing the false doctrine!!! Philemon 6 KJ: "... every good thing which is in you IN CHRIST JESUS." HCSB: "... every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ." COMMENT: Every good thing 'in us' is because WE ARE IN CHRIST JESUS. The King James points to, and gives glory to CHRIST JESUS; the HCSB points to, and emphasizes, MAN. Heb. 1:3 KJ: (Jesus) "Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE OF HIS PERSON, ... when he had BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" HCSB: "He is the radiance of His glory, the exact expression of His nature, and He sustains all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." COMMENT: Jesus isn't JUST the expression of God the Father's 'nature', Jesus is the EXPRESS IMAGE of God the FATHER. As Jesus said if you have SEEN ME you've SEEN THE FATHER (John 14:9). Also, Jesus Christ PURGED OUR SINS and he did it BY HIMSELF. Only the KJ gives us the true, and 100% complete, doctrine. Heb. 2:7 KJ: "... thou crownedst him with glory and honour, AND DIDST SET HIM OVER THE WORKS OF THY HANDS:" HCSB: "... You crowned him with glory and honor" COMMENT: Jesus being OVER THE WORKS OF THY HANDS has been removed from the HCSB. Heb. 2:16 KJ: "For verily he (Jesus) took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham." HCSB: "For it is clear that He does not reach out to help angels, but to help Abraham's offspring." COMMENT: The HCSB is not even close. Heb. 3:1 KJ: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of THE heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our PROFESSION, CHRIST Jesus;" HCSB: "Therefore, holy brothers and companions in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession;" COMMENT: CHRIST is left out. So, this could be anyone named Jesus. And "THE" heavenly calling is changed to just 'a' heavenly calling. Lastly, don't the HCSB translators know the difference between a "PROFESSION" and a 'confession'? Heb. 3:16 KJ: "FOR SOME, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by Moses." HCSB: "For who heard and rebelled? Wasn't it really ALL who came out of Egypt under Moses?" COMMENT: The HCSB is exactly BACKWARDS. Heb. 4:8 KJ: "For if JESUS had given them REST, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day." HCSB: "For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken later about another day." COMMENT: Our "REST" is in the LORD JESUS, not in Joshua! Also note: Part B of this verse is backwards in the HCSB. Heb. 7:21 KJ: "... Thou [art] a priest for ever AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC:)" HCSB: "... You are a priest forever." COMMENT: "After the order of Melchisedec" is omitted. Heb. 10:30 KJ: "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH THE LORD. ..." HCSB: "For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, ..." COMMENT: 'Knowing the 'one' who said ...' is vague and could be ANYBODY. This verse is ABOUT GOD, (i.e. "SAITH THE LORD") as stated in the King James Bible. Heb. 11:6 KJ: "... he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him." HCSB: "... He exists and rewards those who seek Him." COMMENT: We must DILIGENTLY seek him. Heb. 12:2 KJ: "Looking unto Jesus the AUTHOR and FINISHER of [our] faith; ..." HCSB: "keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, ..." COMMENT: Jesus is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending (Rev. 1:8). So, Jesus is the AUTHOR (the beginning) and FINISHER (the ending) of our faith. James 5:16 KJ: "Confess [your] FAULTS one to another, ..." HCSB: "Therefore, confess your sins to one another ..." COMMENT: The Bible says ONLY GOD can forgive sins. So, we confess our SINS to him. We should, however, confess our FAULTS to one another. Note: This doctrinal error in the HCSB is ALSO in Catholic doctrine/practices. 1Peter 1:22 KJ: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT ..." HCSB: "By obedience to the truth, having purified yourselves ..." COMMENT: What happened to God's Holy Spirit? The King James gives God's Holy Spirit the GLORY. The HCSB credits MAN'S efforts. 1Peter 2:2 KJ: "... desire the sincere milk OF THE WORD, that ye may grow thereby:" HCSB: "... desire the unadulterated spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it ..." COMMENT: 'Spiritual milk' of what? Notice: the HCSB doesn't say. Only the KJ let's us know: We need to desire the sincere milk OF THE WORD. 1Peter 3:15 KJ: "But sanctify THE LORD GOD in your hearts: ..." HCSB: "but set apart the Messiah as Lord in your hearts, ..." COMMENT: Is this ANOTHER attempt to do away with the DEITY of our Lord? 1Peter 4:1 KJ: "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered FOR US in the flesh, ..." HCSB: "Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, ..." COMMENT: Christ suffered FOR US. Kind of important don't you think? 1Peter 4:14 KJ: "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS GLORIFIED." HCSB: "If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you." COMMENT: The HCSB leaves out the GLORY God deserves. 1Peter 5:11 KJ: "To him [be] GLORY and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." HCSB: "To Him be the dominion forever. Amen." 2Peter 2:1 KJ: "... there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES, ..." HCSB: "... there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly bring in destructive heresies, ..." COMMENT: The problem is that the heresies are DAMNABLE. 2Peter 2:17 KJ: "... to whom the mist of darkness is reserved FOR EVER." HCSB: "... The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them." COMMENT: FOR EVER is a long time. Yet, that part of the warning has been DELETED in the HCSB. 1John 1:7 KJ: "... and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin." HCSB: "... and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin." 1John 2:20 KJ: "But ye have AN UNCTION from the Holy One, and ye know all things." HCSB: "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge." COMMENT: Are "UNCTION" and 'anointing' the same? 1John 3:16 KJ: "Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD], ..." HCSB: "This is how we have come to know love: ..." COMMENT: God is left out! What happened to GIVING GOD THE GLORY for his love? 1John 4:3 KJ: "And every spirit that CONFESSETH NOT THAT JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH is not of God: ..." HCSB: "But every spirit who does not confess Jesus is not from God. ..." COMMENT: Not true HCSB! Remember, EVIL SPIRITS DID CONFESS/ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS. In Luke 4:34 (and in Mark 1:24) a man having a "spirit of an unclean devil" said to Jesus: "... Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [THOU] JESUS OF NAZARETH? art thou come to destroy us? I KNOW THEE who thou art; THE HOLY ONE OF GOD.". 'New versions' like the HCSB corrupt the test for the anti-christ/test for evil spirits. 1John 4:19 KJ: "We love HIM, because he first loved us." HCSB: "We love because He first loved us." COMMENT: The HCSB misses the point, totally: We love HIM, because he first loved us. 1John 5:6-7 KJ: "This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three THAT BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE." HCSB: "Jesus Christ - He is the One who came by water and blood; not by water only, but by water and by blood. And the Spirit is the One who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify:" COMMENT: What three that testify? Notice how verse 7 leaves the reader hanging. That is because a large portion of verse 7 is missing! 1John 5:8 KJ: "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree IN ONE." HCSB: "the Spirit, the water, and the blood-and these three are in agreement." COMMENT: If you and I agree, we agree AS SEPARATE INDIVIDUALS. But when GOD as the Father, and GOD as Jesus Christ, and GOD as the Holy Spirit agree, they agree IN ONE (KJ). Think about it! Also, the HCSB leaves out ANOTHER section of scripture (in the first part of this verse). 1John 5:13 KJ: "... that ye may know that ye have eternal life, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD." HCSB: "... so that you may know that you have eternal life." COMMENT: ANOTHER PORTION of scripture is omitted. 2John 1:3 KJ: "Grace BE with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, AND FROM THE LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." HCSB: "Grace, mercy, and peace WILL BE with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." Comment: The HCSB says that 'grace, mercy, and peace WILL BE with us'. What? It ALREADY IS! Also again, the LORD Jesus Christ is watered down to just Jesus Christ. Rev. 1:9 KJ: "... and FOR THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS Christ." HCSB: "... and the testimony ABOUT Jesus." COMMENT: Notice the change ... John wasn't speaking 'about' Jesus; John was a vessel, being USED BY GOD, to give us the "TESTIMONY OF" Jesus. Rev. 1:11 KJ: "Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, ..." HCSB: "saying, 'Write on a scroll what you see ...'" COMMENT: Jesus as the "ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST" is omitted. Rev. 1:18 KJ: "I [am] he that liveth, ... and HAVE the keys of HELL and of death." HCSB: "... I hold the keys of death and Hades." COMMENT: Jesus doesn't just 'hold' (HCSB) the keys of hell and of death. He HAS (possession of) them! (KJ) Also, the HCSB changes "HELL" to 'Hades' here in Rev. 1:18 and in Rev. 6:8 and in Rev. 20:13 and in Rev. 20:14. Rev. 5:14 KJ: "... And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER." HCSB: "... and the elders fell down and worshiped." COMMENT: Worshipped WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil? Who? The HCSB doesn't say. But, the King James is CLEAR: We worship "HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER"! Rev. 6:17 KJ: "For the great day of HIS wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" HCSB: "because the great day of Their wrath has come! And who is able to stand?" COMMENT: There is quite a difference between 'their' wrath and "HIS" wrath! Rev. 7:3 KJ: "... Hurt not the earth, ... till we have sealed the SERVANTS of our God IN their foreheads." HCSB: "Don't harm the earth ... until we seal the SLAVES of our God ON their foreheads." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' of God or SERVANTS? Answer: SERVANTS (KJ). Also, the sealing of the servants of God is changed from IN their foreheads (KJ) to ON their foreheads in the HCSB here in Rev. 7:3 and in Rev. 9:4 and in Rev. 14:1 and in Rev. 22:4. Rev. 8:13 KJ: "... and heard AN ANGEL flying ... saying with a loud VOICE, ..." HCSB: "... and I heard an eagle, flying ... saying in a loud VOICE, ..." COMMENT: How could the HCSB translators mis-translate "ANGEL" as 'eagle'? And then, couldn't they have caught their error when they then ADDED that the EAGLE TALKED? Rev. 11:17 KJ: "... We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, AND ART TO COME; ..." HCSB: "... We thank You, Lord God, the Almighty, who is and who was, ..." COMMENT: WHAT IS JESUS GOING TO DO? That's right: He is COMING AGAIN! But, you would NOT KNOW IT from the HCSB. Rev. 12:12 KJ: "... Woe to THE INHABITERS OF the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, ..." HCSB: "... Woe to the earth and the sea, for the Devil has come down to you with great fury, ..." COMMENT: There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in woe coming to the 'earth and sea' (HCSB) vs. woe coming to "THE INHABITERS OF" the earth and sea (KJ). And, the King James Bible does NOT capitalize devil. But notice, the HCSB DOES. Rev. 13:16 KJ: "And he causeth all, ... to receive a mark IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads:" HCSB: "And he requires everyone ... to be given a mark ON his right hand or ON his forehead," COMMENT: The "mark of the beast" will be IN the right hand or IN the forehead (as in the possibility of a microchip, or something IN the skin that CANNOT be washed off, etc.). Note: Something ON the right hand or ON the forehead could be more easily REMOVED. Note: The change from IN their right hand and IN their forehead (KJ) to ON their right hand and ON their forehead (HCSB) occurs here in Rev. 13:16 and also in Rev. 14:9. Rev. 15:3 KJ: "... thou King OF SAINTS." HCSB: "... King of the Nations." COMMENT: There's a big difference, here. And the ramifications are FAR REACHING. Think about it. Rev. 19:8 KJ: "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and WHITE: for the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints." HCSB: "She was permitted to wear fine linen, bright and pure. For the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints." COMMENT: The linen of the saints is "WHITE" because WHITE symbolizes PURITY. 'Bright' could be ANY COLOR. Also, fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints (which GOD GAVE TO US and HE GETS THE GLORY for it). The fine linen IS NOT the righteous 'acts' of the saints (which would give MAN the glory). Rev. 20:9 KJ: "... and fire came down FROM GOD out of heaven, ..." HCSB: "... Then fire came down from heaven ..." COMMENT: The point is: It was GOD that judged. Rev. 21:24 KJ: "And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED shall walk in the light of it: ..." HCSB: "The nations will walk in its light, ..." COMMENT: There's a BIG difference between 'nations' and "nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED". Rev. 22:14 KJ: "BLESSED [are] they THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, ..." HCSB: "Blessed are those who wash their robes, ..." COMMENT: What? 'Wash their robes'? Are those two verses the same? Brothers and sisters: If you want TO BE BLESSED, BE SURE TO DO HIS (Jesus') COMMANDMENTS! Amen? AMEN!
