In this analysis we will compare the English Standard Version (ESV) (2007 text edition) to the King James Bible (KJ). K J V S. E S V Gen. 1:2 KJ: "... And the Spirit of God MOVED upon the face of the waters." ESV: "... And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." COMMENT: The ESV CHANGES verb tense. Gen. 1:21 KJ: "And God created great WHALES, ..." ESV: "So God created the great sea creatures ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus knew the difference between a "WHALE" and just a 'creature'. Gen. 2:7 KJ: "... and man became a living SOUL." ESV: "... and the man became a living creature." Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". Gen. 2:13 KJ: "... land of ETHIOPIA." ESV: "... land of Cush." Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush? Question: Is the ESV's 'Cush' a "simpler, more easily understandable word" than the King James' "ETHIOPIA"? Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." ------- ESV: "But the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" -------- COMMENT: This is MAJOR blasphemy! God (with a big G) is not evil! Think about the difference. Gen. 6:8 KJ: "But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord." ESV: "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." COMMENT: Noah was in need of grace (like the rest of us). Noah was NOT justified by his good works, but by God's GRACE. Note: God's GRACE was extended in the Old Testament, too. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Noah's ark. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/noahsark.htm There are people today that are looking for the ark on Mount Ararat. But, check your King James Bible. In Genesis 8:4 it says "the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the MOUNTAINS (PLURAL) of Ararat". The amateur archeologist found the remains of Noah's ark 12 miles from Mt. Ararat within the MOUNTAINS of Ararat. The discovered ark is 1 inch off, that's right, 1 inch off, from 300 cubits (Gen. 6:15) in length. Gen. 22:8 KJ: "And Abraham said, My son, God will PROVIDE HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering: ..." ESV: "Abraham said, 'God will provide FOR HIMSELF the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' ..." Comment: As the ESV says, God did provide FOR HIMSELF an offering. But, the ESV totally misses the DEEPER, and MORE AMAZING TRUTH: GOD WAS the offering! The King James wording is perfect: "God will PROVIDE HIMSELF" (in the form of his only begotten son Jesus Christ!) as the offering. Gen. 24:47 KJ: "... and I put the EARRING UPON HER FACE, ..." ESV: "... So I put the ring on her nose ..." COMMENT: The ESV put WHAT on her nose? Gen. 49:10 KJ: "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, ... until SHILOH come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be]." ESV: "... until tribute comes to him; ..." COMMENT: "SHILOH" refers to Christ as Peace Maker. The ESV robs him of his Messianic rule. Lev. 3:13 KJ: "... and the sons of Aaron shall SPRINKLE the blood thereof upon the altar ..." ESV: "... and the sons of Aaron shall throw its blood against the sides of the altar." Deut. 32:22 KJ: "For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest HELL, ..." ESV: "For a fire is kindled by my anger, and it burns to the depths of Sheol, ..." COMMENT: HELL IS GONE in this verse in the ESV. Joshua 12:23 KJ: "... the king of the NATIONS of Gilgal, ..." ESV: "... the king of Goiim in Galilee, ..." COMMENT: Is the ESV's 'Goiim' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "NATIONS"? Judges 7:20 KJ: "... The sword OF the Lord, and OF Gideon." ESV: "... A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!" COMMENT: Notice "OF" was changed to "FOR". Big difference in those two meanings. 2Sam. 16:4 KJ: "... And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH thee [that] I may find GRACE in thy sight, my lord, O king." ESV: "... Ziba said, 'I pay homage; let me ever find favor in your sight, my lord the king.'" 2Sam. 21:19 KJ: "... Elhanan ... slew [THE BROTHER OF] Goliath ..." ESV: "... Elhanan ... struck down Goliath ..." COMMENT: Elhanan struck down Goliath? Sunday school CHILDREN know DAVID slew Goliath! The ESV translation 'scholars' blew this one! For a good book on the quality of the King James translators see: "The Men Behind The KJV" by: Gustavus S. Paine ISBN: 0-8010-7008-2 published by Baker Book House. Scholar for scholar the translators of the KJ Bible were far greater men of God than any today. John Bois could read the Bible, in Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was fluent in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well as you and I know English (and better) etc. 1Kings 10:28 KJ: "... and LINEN yarn: the king's merchants received the LINEN yarn at a price." ESV: "... and Solomon's import of HORSES was from Egypt and Kue, ..." COMMENT: The ESV is not even on the right TOPIC. 1Kings 14:24 KJ: "And there were also SODOMITES in the land: ..." ESV: "and there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. ..." COMMENT: SODOMITES and prostitutes are NOT the same. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev 18:22). The ESV has REMOVED sodomites. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/cities-of-the-plain.htm 1Kings 15:12 KJ: "And he took away the SODOMITES out of the land, ..." ESV: "He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land ..." COMMENT: Again, the ESV changes "SODOMITES" to prostitutes. Sodomy and this WARNING against it are gone, in the ESV, here in 1Kings 15:12, AND in 1Kings 14:24, AND in 1Kings 22:46 AND in 2Kings 23:7. 1Kings 20:38 KJ: "... with ASHES upon his FACE." ESV: "... with a bandage over his eyes." COMMENT: In English, "ASHES" and 'bandage' are two different words entirely, so are "FACE" and 'eyes'. Ezra 8:36 KJ: "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's LIEUTENANTS, ..." ESV: "They also delivered the king's commissions to the king's satraps ..." COMMENT: Is the ESV's 'satraps' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "LIEUTENANTS"? Psalm 9:17 KJ: "The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, ..." ESV: "The wicked shall return to Sheol, ..." COMMENT: The ESV has DELETED hell. Is this an attempt to sell more ESVs? Also, how is it that the wicked shall 'return' to Sheol when they've never been there? Psalm 12:6-7 KJ: "The WORDS OF THE LORD [are] pure words: ... THOU SHALT PRESERVE THEM ..." ESV: "... You, O Lord, ... will guard us ..." COMMENT: This scripture is about GOD PRESERVING HIS WORDS, not protecting people! The ESV blew this translation. Psalm 72:8 KJ: "He SHALL have dominion also FROM SEA TO SEA, ..." ESV: "May he have dominion ..." COMMENT: This verse is speaking of Christ as KING and he "SHALL" have dominion is watered down to only 'may' he have dominion. Psalm 72:11 KJ: "Yea, all kings SHALL fall down before him: ..." ESV: "May all kings fall down before him, ..." COMMENT: All kings "SHALL" fall down is watered down to 'may' fall down. Here the Messianic rule of Christ is destroyed. Psalm 109:6 KJ: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let SATAN stand at his right hand." ESV: "Appoint a wicked man against him; let an accuser stand at his right hand." COMMENT: Satan has been REMOVED. Eccl. 5:20 KJ: "... God ANSWERETH [HIM] in the joy of his heart." ESV: "... God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart." COMMENT: The ESV translators blew this one, too. Isaiah 11:3 KJ: "And shall make him of quick understanding ..." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: The verse is speaking of Jesus and says he will be "of quick understanding". The ESV OMITS this scripture. Isaiah 14:12 KJ: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! ..." ESV: "How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! ..." COMMENT: WHO is fallen from heaven? The ESV doesn't say. The King James says who: It's LUCIFER. Lucifer is GONE in this verse in the ESV. Isaiah 32:2 KJ: "And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from the wind, ..." ESV: "Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, ..." COMMENT: The "MAN" here can be no one but Christ. Just another case of setting aside the Lord Jesus, and giving us a substitute. Think how serious these corruptions are, and how they destroy the word of God. Jer. 48:12 KJ: "Therefore, ... saith the Lord, ... I will send unto him WANDERERS, ..." ESV: "Therefore, ... declares the Lord, ... I shall send to him pourers ..." COMMENT: Is the ESV's 'pourers' a "simpler and more easily understood word", than the King James' "WANDERERS"? Daniel 3:25 KJ: "... and the form of the fourth is like THE SON OF GOD." ESV: "... and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods." COMMENT: 'A son of the (plural) gods'? It was Jesus Christ, THE SON OF GOD (Big G), who was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Messach, and Abednego. It was Jesus Christ who protected them and it is Jesus Christ who saves us from the fiery furnace (i.e. from hell). Hosea 11:12 KJ: "... but Judah yet RULETH WITH GOD, and is faithful with the saints." ESV: "... but Judah still walks with God and is faithful to the Holy One." COMMENT: The ESV has watered down "RULING" with God to only 'walks' with God. Hosea 13:9 KJ: "O Israel, THOU HAST DESTROYED THYSELF; but IN ME [IS] THINE HELP." ESV: "HE DESTROYS YOU, O Israel, for you are against me, against your helper." COMMENT: Here is a splendid example of how new version 'scripture' is often made to say exactly the OPPOSITE of what was given by inspiration of Almighty God. Zech. 11:17 KJ: "Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the flock! ..." ESV: "Woe to my worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! ..." COMMENT: The scholars missed this one. Matt. 1:19 KJ: "Then Joseph ... not willing to make her (Mary) a publick example, was minded to put her away privily." ESV: "... Joseph, ... resolved to divorce her quietly." COMMENT: Think on this. What a difference. The meaning is FAR-REACHING and a lot is involved. Matt. 1:25 KJ: "And knew her not till she had brought forth her FIRSTBORN son: ..." ESV: "but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. ..." Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where Christ should be born." ESV: "... he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born." COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY with him) did not 'inquire' where Christ was to be born. He DEMANDED to know! Matt. 5:22 KJ: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in danger of the judgment: ..." ESV: "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; ..." COMMENT: What? The ESV says you can't be angry with your brother?!!! The Apostle Paul was ANGRY and withstood the Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus was ANGRY with the Church at Pergamos because of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes (Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but sin not (Eph. 4:26) and it says not to let the sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26). The King James is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE is in danger of the judgment. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between those two verses. Matt. 5:44 KJ: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, BLESS THEM THAT CURSE YOU, DO GOOD TO THEM THAT HATE YOU, and pray for them which DESPITEFULLY USE YOU, and persecute you;" ESV: "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," COMMENT: The ESV leaves out everything in capital letters. Matt. 6:13 KJ: "... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." ESV: The ESV omits all of the above. Matt. 6:27 KJ: "Which of you ... can ADD ONE CUBIT unto his stature?" ESV: "And which of you ... can add a single hour to his span of life?" COMMENT: The verse is about HEIGHT (i.e. CUBITS) not time! Matt. 7:14 KJ: "Because strait [is] the gate, and NARROW [is] the WAY, ..." ESV: "For the gate is narrow and the way is hard ..." COMMENT: The 'way is hard'? No! "NARROW is the WAY". Matt. 8:19 KJ: "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, MASTER, I will follow thee ..." ESV: "And a scribe came up and said to him, 'Teacher, I will follow you ...'" COMMENT: Jesus AS MASTER is watered down to just 'teacher'. Matt. 9:13 KJ: "... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners TO REPENTANCE." ESV: "... For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." COMMENT: Those last two words in the KJ ARE CRUCIAL. HELL will get all of the sinners who DON'T repent. JESUS will get all the sinners who DO repent! There is a BIG difference in those two outcomes. And, there is a BIG difference in those two verses. Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..." ESV: "And you, Capernaum, will ... be brought down to Hades. ..." COMMENT: Hell is GONE in this verse in the ESV. Matt. 12:6 KJ: "... That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than the temple." ESV: "I tell you, something greater than the temple is here." Matt. 12:32 KJ: "... but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in THIS WORLD, neither in THE [WORLD] TO COME." ESV: "... but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." Matt. 12:40 KJ: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the WHALE'S belly; ..." ESV: "For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ knew the difference between a "WHALE" and a 'fish'. Matt. 12:42 KJ: "... behold, A GREATER THAN SOLOMON [is] here." ESV: "... and behold, something greater than Solomon is here." Matt. 13:39 KJ: "... the harvest is the END OF THE WORLD; ..." ESV: "... The harvest is the close of the age, ..." COMMENT: The harvest comes at the END OF THE WORLD. Matt. 16:3 KJ: "... O [YE] HYPOCRITES, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?" ESV: "... You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times." Matt. 17:21 KJ: "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by PRAYER and FASTING." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: To cast out certain devils requires PRAYER and FASTING. The ESV ignores this. Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." ESV: Omitted Comment: Jesus' ENTIRE PURPOSE for coming to earth, has been OMITTED from the ESV. Matt. 19:9 KJ: "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY." ESV: "And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery." COMMENT: An IMPORTANT verse about marriage, yet the ESV deletes about a third of it. Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..." ESV: "... Why do you ask me about what is good? ..." Matt. 20:7 KJ: "... Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; AND WHATSOEVER IS RIGHT, [THAT] SHALL YE RECEIVE." ESV: "... 'Because no one has hired us.' He said to them, 'You go into the vineyard too.'" COMMENT: The ESV omits about 1/2 the verse! And this omission makes it HARDER to fully understand the explanation given later in Matt. 20:13. Matt. 20:16 KJ: "So the last shall be first, and the first last: FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN." ESV: "So the last will be first, and the first last." COMMENT: The ESV omits: "FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN." Matt. 20:20 KJ: "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, WORSHIPPING [him], ..." ESV: "Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him ..." COMMENT: 'Kneeling' is not even close to TRUE "WORSHIP". Matt. 23:8 KJ: "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your MASTER, [even] Christ; ..." ESV: "But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers." COMMENT: "MASTER" is watered down to just 'teacher', and on top of that the ESV doesn't even say the teacher's name is Jesus. Matt. 23:14 KJ: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a PRETENCE make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater DAMNATION." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: Jesus condemns hypocrisy, yet this warning is not in the ESV. Matt. 24:3 KJ: "... Tell us, ... of the end of the WORLD ..." ESV: "... Tell us, ... of the close of the age ..." COMMENT: Jesus isn't being asked about a "new time period", or a "new dispensation"; he is being asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END. There is a difference. Matt. 25:13 KJ: "... ye know neither the day nor the hour WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH." ESV: "... for you know neither the day nor the hour." COMMENT: Who is it that is coming again? That's right: JESUS! But, you wouldn't know it from the ESV. Matt. 27:4 KJ: "... I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD. ..." ESV: "... I have sinned by betraying innocent blood. ..." COMMENT: Many people are innocent of certain crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST is "THE" INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it. Matt. 27:35 KJ: "And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY THE PROPHET, THEY PARTED MY GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND UPON MY VESTURE DID THEY CAST LOTS." ESV: "And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots." COMMENT: The ESV omits this section of scripture documenting this FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY. Mark 1:2 KJ: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER BEFORE THY FACE, WHICH SHALL PREPARE THY WAY BEFORE THEE." ESV: "As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, ..." COMMENT: Contrary to what the ESV says, the scripture quoted in Mark 1:2 DID NOT come from 'Isaiah'. The scripture is from Malachi 3:1. Check it out. So, just like the King James Bible says: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, ..." (because Malachi was a prophet). Mark 3:5 KJ: "... his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE OTHER." ESV: "... and his hand was restored." Mark 3:29 KJ: "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost ... is in danger of eternal DAMNATION:" ESV: "but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit ... is guilty of an eternal sin-" COMMENT: This verse contains an IMPORTANT WARNING, but the ESV waters it down. Mark 6:11 KJ: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY." ESV: "And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them." COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the ESV leaves out about half of it. Mark 6:51 KJ: "... and they were SORE AMAZED IN THEMSELVES BEYOND MEASURE, AND WONDERED." ESV: "... And they were utterly astounded," Mark 7:16 KJ: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 14, 15, and then 17 is NOT new math. The ESV leaves out JESUS' COMMAND TO HEAR HIM. Mark 9:24 KJ: "... LORD, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." ESV: "... I believe; help my unbelief!" Mark 9:29 KJ: "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer AND FASTING." ESV: "And he said to them, 'This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.'" COMMENT: Notice: FASTING is left out! Wonder why Satan does not want us to fast? Mark 9:44,46 KJ: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." ESV: This verse in both Mark 9:44 and Mark 9:46 is omitted. Mark 9:47 KJ: "... it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell FIRE:" ESV: "... It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell," COMMENT: The SEVERITY of hell has been watered down in the ESV. Mark 10:24 KJ: "... Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!" ESV: "... Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God!" COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King James Bible, is: TRUSTING IN RICHES. Mark 11:10 KJ: "... Blessed [be] the kingdom of our FATHER David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: Hosanna in the highest." ESV: "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!" Mark 11:26 KJ: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: A HUGE warning, yet Mark 11:26 is omitted in the ESV. Mark 13:6 KJ: "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." ESV: "Many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' ..." COMMENT: 'He' could be ANYBODY. Yours truly is a 'he', but I am NOT Jesus Christ! Mark 13:14 KJ: "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, ..." ESV: "But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be ..." COMMENT: Another section of scripture that points out the FULFILLMENT OF A PROPHECY, but the ESV omits it. Mark 13:33 KJ: "Take ye heed, watch AND PRAY: ..." ESV: "Be on guard, keep awake. ..." COMMENT: What does the ESV have against PRAYING? Mark 14:22 KJ: "... Take, EAT: this is my body." ESV: "... Take; this is my body." Mark 15:28 KJ: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS." ESV: Omitted Mark 16:9-20 KJ: (All verses of Mark 16:9-20 are included) ESV: Mark 16:9-20 has a note that says: "Some of the earliest manuscripts do not include Mark 16:9-20." COMMENT: In John Burgeon's book, "The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark", he has written over 400 pages proving conclusively that this section was in the original manuscripts. Burgeon's book remains unanswered and is unanswerable. Luke 1:28 KJ: "And the angel came in unto her, and said, HAIL, [THOU THAT ART] HIGHLY FAVOURED, the Lord [is] with thee: BLESSED [ART] THOU AMONG WOMEN." ESV: "And he came to her and said, 'Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!'" COMMENT: Mary was "HIGHLY FAVOURED" not just 'favored'. And that favor WAS FROM GOD. By watering down God's HIGH favor, the ESV reduces the GLORY GOD IS DUE. Also, Mary was BLESSED AMONG WOMEN. Luke 2:22 KJ: "And when the days of HER PURIFICATION ... were accomplished, ..." ESV: "And when the time came for THEIR purification ..." COMMENT: WHAT? The ESV MAKES JESUS A SINNER (by requiring purification FOR HIM). The King James is correct: The purification WAS FOR MARY, and for her ONLY. Luke 2:33 KJ: "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." ESV: "And his FATHER and his mother marveled at what was said about him." COMMENT: GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST -NOT JOSEPH! If Jesus had only an earthly father and mother, then he is just ANY MAN. If he is just any man, then we are STILL IN OUR SINS. If we are still in our sins, then we are NOT SAVED! If we are not saved, then we have a BIG, BIG, problem! Luke 2:43 KJ: "... the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and JOSEPH AND HIS MOTHER knew not [of it]." ESV: "... the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. HIS PARENTS did not know it," COMMENT: 'HIS PARENTS'? Again the ESV makes JOSEPH the FATHER of the Lord Jesus Christ. Joseph was NOT Jesus' father, GOD WAS. Luke 2:49 KJ: "... I must be about my Father's BUSINESS ..." ESV: "... I must be in my Father's house ..." COMMENT: Don't the 'scholars' know the difference between BUSINESS and a house? Also, if Jesus (and us) 'must be in our Father's house' as stated by the ESV, how would the world be evangelized? Once again, the King James Bible is correct: Jesus, and us for that matter, must be about our Father's BUSINESS (WHEREVER that may lead). Luke 4:4 KJ: "... man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD." ESV: "... Man shall not live by bread alone." COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need? The ESV doesn't say, but the KJ does: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD! Luke 4:8 KJ: "And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." ESV: "And Jesus answered him, 'It is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.'" COMMENT: The ESV omits "Get thee behind me, Satan". Luke 4:18 KJ: "The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," ESV: Luke 4:18 omits entirely, "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,". Luke 9:55-56 KJ: "But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they went to another village." ESV: "But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village." COMMENT: The ESV omits a major section of scripture. This casts doubt on the authenticity of this passage. Luke 11:2 KJ: "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH." ESV: "And he said to them, 'When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.'" COMMENT: The ESV leaves out "OUR" and "... WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, ..." (so we don't know which Father we are praying to). Satan is a father: the father of lies. It also leaves out "... THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH ..." (so do we want our will to be done, and not God's?). Why is all this OMITTED in the ESV? Luke 11:4 KJ: "... And lead us not into temptation; BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL." ESV: "... And lead us not into temptation." Luke 11:29 KJ: "... but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET." ESV: "... except the sign of Jonah." Luke 16:23 KJ: "And in HELL he lift up his eyes, ..." ESV: "and in Hades, being in torment, ..." COMMENT: Hell is DELETED in this verse in the ESV. Luke 17:36 KJ: "Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." ESV: Omitted Luke 21:8 KJ: "... for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." ESV: "... For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' ..." COMMENT: Who is this 'he'? 'He' could be anybody. Luke 23:17 KJ: "(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)" ESV: Omitted COMMENT: Again, this casts doubt on a passage in God's word. Luke 23:23 KJ: "... And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF PRIESTS prevailed." ESV: "... And their voices prevailed." Luke 23:42 KJ: "And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." ESV: "And he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom.'" COMMENT: There is no explanation for the ESV leaving out "LORD". The thief GOT SAVED, so of course he addressed Jesus as LORD! Luke 23:45 KJ: "And the sun WAS DARKENED, ..." ESV: "while the sun's light failed. ..." COMMENT: Why did the sun's light 'fail'? Only the King James lets us know: It was supernaturally DARKENED. Luke 24:46 KJ: "... and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer, ..." ESV: "... that the Christ should suffer ..." COMMENT: The ESV misses a HUGE POINT: It BEHOVED Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY. John 1:3 KJ: "All things were made BY him; ..." ESV: "All things were made through him, ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'through' are totally different. Think about it. John 1:10 KJ: "He was in the world, and the world was made BY him, ..." ESV: "... and the world was made through him, ..." COMMENT: Again, "BY" and 'through' are not the same. John 1:14 KJ: "... (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of THE ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father,) ..." ESV: "... and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, ..." COMMENT: God has MORE THAN ONE SON. Every male that is saved is a SON of God! The King James is right: Jesus was THE ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father. John 1:42 KJ: "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE." ESV: "He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas' (which means Peter)." COMMENT: The ESV omits: Thou shall be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE. This omission is DISASTROUS. Jesus calls Peter "A STONE" to differentiate Peter from Jesus who is THE ROCK (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says: upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my Church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring to Peter. And that is one of many errors in Catholic doctrine. John 3:13 KJ: "And NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven." ESV: "No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man." COMMENT: Not true, ESV. Remember the angels on Jacob's ladder? They ASCENDED and DESCENDED. The KJ is correct: NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven ... ALSO, Satan went into heaven and made accusations against Job (Job 1:6). Remember? John 3:15 KJ: "That whosoever believeth in him SHOULD NOT PERISH, but have eternal life." ESV: "that whoever believes in him may have eternal life." COMMENT: NOT PERISHING is important, don't you think? John 3:16 KJ: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only BEGOTTEN Son, ..." ESV: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, ..." COMMENT: Believers in God are called his SONS and daughters. God did not give his 'only' son. He has MANY sons. God gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son. John 4:24 KJ: "God [is] A Spirit: ..." ESV: "God is spirit, ..." COMMENT: The ESV says: 'God is spirit' inferring ALL spirits are of God. NOT TRUE! There are evil spirits, but in God there is NO evil. So, the King James Bible is correct: God is "A" Spirit. John 5:4 KJ: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: This injects ANOTHER doubt as to the authority and accuracy of God's word. Also, the ESV omits a capability (apparently) of an HOLY angel of God. John 5:16 KJ: "And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done these things on the sabbath day." ESV: "And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting this phrase or for brushing over the fact that the Jews wanted to MURDER Jesus. John 5:29 KJ: "... and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of DAMNATION." ESV: "... and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment." COMMENT: The ESV waters down "DAMNATION" to only 'judgment'. John 6:33 KJ: "For the bread of God is HE which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world." ESV: "For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." John 6:47 KJ: "... He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting life." ESV: "... whoever believes has eternal life." COMMENT: Believes WHO or WHAT? Everyone who 'believes' DOES NOT have everlasting life, only those who believe ON JESUS. The two words "ON ME" are CRITICAL. John 6:69 KJ: "And we BELIEVE and ARE SURE that thou art that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD." ESV: "and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." COMMENT: What happened to CHRIST? And what happened to him being the son of the LIVING GOD? John 7:53- 8:11 KJ: (All verses are included) and Mark 16:9-20 ESV: Note says: "The earliest manuscripts do not include 7:53-8:11" COMMENT: Literally hundreds of manuscripts contain these verses, and the early church fathers refer to them hundreds of times. John 8:9 KJ: "And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by one, ..." ESV: "But when they heard it, they went away one by one, ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this section of scripture. John 8:36 KJ: "If the Son therefore shall MAKE YOU FREE, ye shall be free indeed." ESV: "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." COMMENT: Jesus did not (passively) 'set' us free (ESV); NO, he TOOK ACTION and MADE us free (KJ). To FIX US Jesus had to START OVER FROM SCRATCH: We had to be BORN AGAIN! The ESV waters down the ACTIVE WORK Jesus did for us. John 8:59 KJ: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, AND SO PASSED BY." ESV: "So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple." COMMENT: Quite a different thought. John 9:4 KJ: "I must work the works of him that sent me, ..." ESV: "We must work the works of him who sent me ..." John 9:35 KJ: "... Dost thou believe on the SON OF GOD?" ESV: "... Do you believe in the Son of Man?" John 10:30 KJ: "I and [MY] Father are one." ESV: "I and the Father are one." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ's "MY" Father is gone and is replaced by 'the' Father. Thus the ESV deletes the PERSONAL relationship of "MY FATHER" between Jesus and the heavenly Father. John 11:41 KJ: "Then they took away the stone [FROM THE PLACE] WHERE THE DEAD WAS LAID. ..." ESV: "So they took away the stone. ..." COMMENT: It's NOT a miracle if Lazarus isn't DEAD. John 14:2 KJ: "In my Father's house are MANY MANSIONS: ..." ESV: "In my Father's house are many rooms. ..." COMMENT: If Jesus thinks your work for him was WORTHY, wouldn't you want a "MANSION" instead of just a 'room'? The ESV waters down one of the POSSIBLE REWARDS from God. John 14:16 KJ: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another COMFORTER, ..." ESV: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper," John 14:26 KJ: "But the COMFORTER, [which is] the Holy Ghost, ..." ESV: "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, ..." John 15:26 KJ: "But when the COMFORTER is come, ..." ESV: "But when the Helper comes, ..." John 16:7 KJ: "... for if I go not away, the COMFORTER will not come ..." ESV: "... for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come ..." John 16:16 KJ: "A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, BECAUSE I GO TO THE FATHER." ESV: "A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me." COMMENT: Jesus' prophecy, about himself, is corrupted in the ESV. Acts 1:3 KJ: "... he shewed himself alive after his passion BY MANY INFALLIBLE PROOFS, ..." ESV: "... by many proofs, ..." COMMENT: The evidence about Jesus is INFALLIBLE. Acts 2:30 KJ: "... that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit on his throne;" ESV: "... he would set one of his descendants on his throne," COMMENT: The ESV totally misses the point. It wasn't just a 'descendant' that would sit on the throne, it was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ). Acts 2:47 KJ: "... And the Lord ADDED TO THE CHURCH daily such as SHOULD BE saved." ESV: "... And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were BEING SAVED." COMMENT: The people that were added were added to THE CHURCH not to 'their number'. Also, salvation is an IMMEDIATE event; it is NOT A PROCESS. People are either SAVED or they are NOT. They are NOT 'being' saved. Acts 3:13 KJ: "The God of Abraham, ... hath glorified HIS SON Jesus; ..." ESV: "The God of Abraham, ... glorified his servant Jesus, ..." COMMENT: Jesus as GOD'S SON has been watered down to just a 'servant' in the ESV. Acts 3:26 KJ: "... God, having raised up HIS SON Jesus, ..." ESV: "God, having raised up his servant, ..." COMMENT: The ESV waters down GOD'S "SON" Jesus to just 'servant'. And then, the ESV doesn't even name the servant. Acts 4:27 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, ..." ESV: "... your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, ..." COMMENT: Again, the ESV waters down Jesus. This time Jesus as GOD'S "HOLY CHILD" is watered down to just a 'holy servant'. Acts 4:30 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus." ESV: "... your holy servant Jesus." COMMENT: One more time: The ESV waters down GOD'S "HOLY CHILD" to just 'holy servant'. Acts 8:9 KJ: "... a certain man, ... used sorcery, and BEWITCHED the people ..." ESV: "... a man ... practiced magic ... and amazed the people ..." COMMENT: No! No! No! He didn't 'amaze' the people (as if they were being entertained). No, he BEWITCHED them (to their DETRIMENT). Acts 8:37 KJ: "And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD." ESV: OMITTED COMMENT: This verse shows THE requirement for water baptism, namely: BELIEVING that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. But, the ESV leaves this out. Acts 9:5-6 KJ: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." ESV: "And he said, 'Who are you, Lord?' And he said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.'" COMMENT: Truly the translators have emasculated these two verses and give no reason at all for their omission. Again they would inject a doubt into the mind of anyone who believes the Bible to be the verbally inspired word of God. Acts 9:20 KJ: "And straightway he preached CHRIST ..." ESV: "And immediately he proclaimed Jesus ..." COMMENT: Christ is missing. Acts 10:37 KJ: "THAT WORD, [I say], ye know, which was PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;" ESV: "you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed:" COMMENT: The ESV is VAGUE. It says: 'you know what happened ...' but then doesn't say WHAT HAPPENED! The King James tells us: THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA. Acts 12:4 KJ: "... after EASTER ..." ESV: "... after the Passover ..." COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King so he did NOT regard Passover! He would have regarded Easter, though. Note: Passover is BIBLICAL. But, do a thorough study on Easter and you will find out it is PAGAN. Acts 15:11 KJ: "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they." ESV: "But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will." COMMENT: What happened to "CHRIST"? Acts 15:18 KJ: "KNOWN UNTO GOD ARE ALL HIS WORKS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD." ESV: "known from of old." Acts 15:34 KJ: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 32, 33, and then 35 ... is NOT new math. Acts 16:31 KJ: "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." ESV: "And they said, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.'" COMMENT: Again, they omit "Christ". Acts 17:22 KJ: "Then Paul stood in the midst of MARS' HILL, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS." ESV: "So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: 'Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious.'" Comment: Being 'very religious' and "TOO SUPERSTITIOUS" are entirely different! Also, is the ESV's 'Areopagus' "simpler, and more understandable", than the King James' MARS' HILL? Acts 17:29 KJ: "... we ought not to think that the GODHEAD is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, ..." ESV: "... we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, ..." Acts 18:12 KJ: "And when Gallio was the DEPUTY of Achaia, ..." ESV: "But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, ..." COMMENT: Is the ESV's 'proconsul' a "simpler, and more easily understandable word", than the King James' DEPUTY? Acts 20:23-24 KJ: "... the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, ..." ESV: The following is omitted, "But none of these things move me," (and no reason is given for the omission). COMMENT: Notice: The King James Bible is the one that tells us that the Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED BY HIS CIRCUMSTANCES. Thus, he could preach the Gospel with BOLDNESS! May we also have the SAME ATTITUDE as the Apostle Paul and may we also preach the Gospel with BOLDNESS! Acts 21:9 KJ: "And the same man had four daughters, VIRGINS, which did prophesy." ESV: "He had four UNMARRIED daughters, who prophesied." COMMENT: What happened to the blessing of VIRGINITY? 'New versions' like the ESV do not like the topic of virginity. Also, being a VIRGIN and being 'unmarried' are VERY different. Acts 23:9 KJ: "... let us not fight against God." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: Some good advice, don't you think? Acts 24:6-7 KJ: "Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. 7 But the chief captain Lysias came [upon us], and with great violence took [him] away out of our hands," ESV: Most of this has been omitted. Acts 24:14 KJ: "But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call HERESY, so worship I the God of my fathers, ..." ESV: "But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, ..." COMMENT: The unbelievers who came against the Apostle Paul did NOT think Christianity was a 'sect', no they thought it was HERESY. Acts 24:15 KJ: "... that there shall be a resurrection OF THE DEAD, both of the just and unjust." ESV: "... that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust." Acts 28:29 KJ: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: The VAST MAJORITY of manuscripts have this verse! This is still another doubt cast upon the word of God. Romans 1:16 KJ: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel OF CHRIST: ..." ESV: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, ..." COMMENT: Whose gospel? The key words are: OF CHRIST. The ESV leaves the reader guessing. Romans 1:25 KJ: "Who CHANGED the truth of God INTO a lie, ..." ESV: "... they exchanged the truth about God for a lie ..." COMMENT: Those 2 verses are NOT the same. Romans 6:18 KJ: "Being then made free from sin, ye became the SERVANTS of righteousness." ESV: "and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! Think about the difference. Romans 6:19 KJ: "... now yield your members SERVANTS to righteousness ..." ESV: "... now present your members as slaves to righteousness ..." COMMENT: Again, are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! There is a difference. Romans 6:22 KJ: "But now being made free from sin, and become SERVANTS to God, ..." ESV: "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, ..." COMMENT: Not again! 'Slaves of God'? No! No! No! We are "SERVANTS" to God, as properly stated in the King James Bible. Romans 8:1 KJ: "[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT." ESV: "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." COMMENT: AN IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION is in the second half of the verse, but the ESV omits it. Romans 13:9 KJ: "... Thou shalt not bear false witness, ..." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (false witnesses) go to the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). So, why leave this out? Romans 14:1 KJ: "Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to DOUBTFUL disputations." ESV: "As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions." COMMENT: This scripture is about items of FAITH. And notice: The KJ does NOT say we cannot have disputes about items of faith; only that we should not have DOUBTFUL disputes. What are doubtful disputes? Whether we can 'eat all things' or only 'herbs'(Romans 14:2) or whether we 'esteem every day alike' or 'one day over another' (Romans 14:5). But, in the ESV we would NEVER DISPUTE ANYTHING including KEY DOCTRINE like Paul and Barnabus going up to Jerusalem concerning whether circumcision was necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2). The ESV would also come against both Titus 1:9 where we are to use sound doctrine to CONVINCE THE GAINSAYERS and 2Tim. 3:16 where ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable for REPROOF and for CORRECTION. Romans 16:24 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen." ESV: Omitted COMMENT: The vast majority of manuscripts have this verse. 1Cor. 1:18 KJ: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God." ESV: "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING SAVED it is the power of God." COMMENT: 'Being saved'? The ESV is teaching AGAIN that salvation is a PROCESS. NOT TRUE. It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. 1Cor. 1:21 KJ: "... it pleased God BY THE FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe." ESV: "... it pleased God through the FOLLY OF WHAT WE PREACH to save those who believe." COMMENT: Contrary to what the ESV says, THE GOSPEL IS NOT FOLLY. 1Cor. 5:4 KJ: "In the name of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST," ESV: "When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus," COMMENT: IN BOTH CASES THE NAME "CHRIST" is omitted (with no reason given). Why do the translators dislike the name "CHRIST" so much? Are the translators of these 'new versions' really saved? 1Cor. 5:7 KJ: "... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed FOR US:" ESV: "... For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." COMMENT: If Christ is not sacrificed FOR US we cannot be saved! Those last two words are CRITICAL. 1Cor. 6:9-10 KJ: "... Be not deceived: neither fornicators, ... NOR EFFEMINATE, ... shall inherit the kingdom of God." ESV: "nor effeminate" is omitted in the ESV. 1Cor. 6:20 KJ: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S." ESV: "for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." COMMENT: A section of scripture has been omitted with no reason given. 1Cor. 7:5 KJ: "... give yourselves to FASTING and prayer; ..." ESV: "... that you may devote yourselves to prayer; ..." COMMENT: What does the ESV have against FASTING? 1Cor. 7:25 KJ: "Now concerning VIRGINS ..." ESV: "Now concerning the betrothed, ..." COMMENT: 'New versions' like the ESV, eliminate VIRGINS. Note: The 'betrothed' may, or may not, be virgins. 1Cor. 7:39 KJ: "The wife is bound BY THE LAW as long as her husband liveth; ..." ESV: "A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. ..." 1Cor. 9:1 KJ: "... have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord? ..." ESV: "... Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? ..." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting the name "CHRIST". Again, the ESV translators show their dislike for CHRIST. 1Cor. 9:27 KJ: "But I keep ... my body, ... into subjection: lest ... I myself should be a CASTAWAY." ESV: "But I discipline my body ... lest ... I myself should be disqualified." COMMENT: Being a "CASTAWAY" and being 'disqualified' are VERY DIFFERENT. Think about it. 1Cor. 11:24 KJ: "And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, TAKE, EAT: this is my body, which IS BROKEN for you: ..." ESV: "and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, 'This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'" COMMENT: The ESV misses a HUGE point: Christ's body WAS BROKEN for us. Also in the ESV, it is not clear what we are to 'do'. The King James Bible tells us: "TAKE, EAT". 1Cor. 11:29 KJ: "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh DAMNATION TO HIMSELF, ..." ESV: "For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself." COMMENT: The ESV waters down this WARNING. 1Cor. 12:13 KJ: "For BY one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, ..." ESV: "For IN one Spirit we were all baptized into one body- ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'in' have totally different meanings. 1Cor. 15:2 KJ: "By which also ye ARE SAVED, ..." ESV: "and by which you are being saved, ..." COMMENT: A person is either saved or not. They are NOT 'being saved'. 1Cor. 15:45 KJ: "... The first man Adam was made a living SOUL; ..." ESV: "... The first man Adam became a living being; ..." COMMENT: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a SOUL. 1Cor. 16:22 KJ: "If any man love not the Lord JESUS CHRIST, let him be Anathema Maranatha." ESV: "If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. ... " COMMENT: Leaving out "JESUS CHRIST" leaves us guessing as to whom the ESV wants us to love. 1Cor. 16:23 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with you." ESV: "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you." COMMENT: Why do they keep insisting on eliminating the name "Christ"? Grace (THAT WE CAN CONSTANTLY DEPEND ON) does NOT come from EVERYONE named 'Jesus', but from THE ONE AND ONLY JESUS CHRIST. 2Cor. 2:15 KJ: "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them THAT ARE SAVED, ..." ESV: "For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are BEING SAVED ..." COMMENT: Again the ESV is teaching salvation is a PROCESS. No! It is an IMMEDIATE event. 2Cor. 2:17 KJ: "For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: ..." ESV: "For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, ..." COMMENT: Peddling and CORRUPTING are VERY DIFFERENT. 'New' versions try and hide from the truth they are CORRUPTING the word of God. 2Cor. 10:4 KJ: "(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strong holds;)" ESV: "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds." 2Cor. 10:5 KJ: "... Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing ..." ESV: "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion ..." COMMENT: It's IMAGINATIONS that can sometimes BAIT US into sin. 2Cor. 11:31 KJ: "The God and Father of OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, ..." ESV: "The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, ..." COMMENT: We ask in all sincerity, "Are the translators anxious to get rid of CHRIST altogether?" Gal. 2:20 KJ: "I AM crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; ..." ESV: "I have been crucified with Christ. ..." COMMENT: The ESV is saying their crucifixion is over! NOT true. The believer's crucifixion is an ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction. Gal. 5:12 KJ: "I would they were even cut off which trouble you." ESV: "I wish those who unsettle you would EMASCULATE themselves!" COMMENT: What kind of PERVERSION is the ESV teaching? Gal. 6:17 KJ: "... for I bear IN MY BODY the marks of the LORD JESUS." ESV: "... for I bear ON MY BODY the marks of Jesus." COMMENT: The marks of the Lord Jesus are "IN" our body, not 'on'. We're NOT talking CATTLE BRANDING here. Eph. 3:14 KJ: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST," ESV: "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, ..." COMMENT: Which Father is the ESV talking about? Satan is a father (the "father of lies"). Only the KJ says: It is the Father OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Also, again, we ask in all sincerity, "Would the translators wish to get rid of the name Lord Jesus Christ entirely?" Eph. 5:1 KJ: "Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, ..." ESV: "Therefore be imitators of God, ..." Comment: The ESV documents Satan's position EXACTLY. Only Satan tries to imitate God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God. Isa. 14:14 quotes Satan as saying: "... I will BE LIKE the most high". Born again believers cannot imitate God. We can't run the universe! We can only FOLLOW God. Remember, Jesus DID NOT tell his "fishers of men" to imitate him. Jesus said: "FOLLOW ME ...". Eph. 5:9 KJ: "(For the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" ESV: "(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true)," COMMENT: WHO/WHAT is this 'light' that the ESV is referring to? Satan himself can be transformed into an angel of LIGHT (2Co. 11:14). Lastly, "SPIRIT" and 'light' are NOT the same. Eph. 5:30 KJ: "For we are MEMBERS of his body, OF HIS FLESH, AND OF HIS BONES." ESV: "because we are members of his body." Philip. 2:6 KJ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it NOT ROBBERY to be equal with God:" ESV: "who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped," Philip. 3:8 KJ: "... DUNG, ..." ESV: "... rubbish, ..." COMMENT: I may have rubbish on the top of my office desk, but I don't want "DUNG" there!!! Philip. 3:21 KJ: "Who shall change our VILE BODY, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, ..." ESV: "who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, ..." COMMENT: 'Lowly body'? The problem is that our bodies are VILE. Our heart is desperately WICKED (Jer. 17:9). Our flesh is SINFUL (Romans 8:3). There is NO GOOD THING that dwells in our flesh (Romans 7:18) etc. Col. 1:14 KJ: "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:" ESV: "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." COMMENT: ESV omits "through his blood". Why omit the blood? This omission can be traced, as usual, to the manuscripts classed as "Neutral Texts" by Westcott and Hort. These are in agreement with the Vatican and Sinaitic manuscripts two of the WORST manuscripts. Remember: Without the shedding of blood there is NO REMISSION (Heb. 9:22). Col. 2:2 KJ: "... to the acknowledgement of the mystery OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;" ESV: "... and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ," COMMENT: God the FATHER is omitted. Col. 2:9 KJ: "For in him dwelleth all the fulness OF THE GODHEAD bodily." ESV: "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily," COMMENT: Anyone (including Satan) can claim to be 'deity', but there is ONLY ONE GODHEAD. Col. 2:11 KJ: "... in putting off the body of THE SINS of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:" ESV: "... by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ," Col. 3:2 KJ: "Set your AFFECTION on things above, ..." ESV: "Set your mind on things that are above, ..." COMMENT: The 'mind' can be an issue, but the BIGGER ISSUE is our AFFECTION (i.e. our HEART) as properly stated in the King James Bible. See also Proverbs 4:23. Col. 3:6 KJ: "For which things' sake the wrath of God COMETH ON THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE:" ESV: "On account of these the wrath of God is coming." COMMENT: Coming on WHO? God's wrath is coming on the "CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE". Note: The TARGET of God's wrath had been DELETED from the ESV. 1Thes. 2:19 KJ: "... in the presence of our Lord Jesus CHRIST at his coming?" ESV: "... before our Lord Jesus at his coming? ..." 1Thes. 3:11 KJ: "Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you." ESV: "Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you," 1Thes. 5:22 KJ: "Abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil." ESV: "Abstain from every form of evil." COMMENT: We SHOULD abstain from every FORM of evil. But, MORE THAN THAT, we are to abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil. 1Tim. 1:1 KJ: "... and LORD Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;" ESV: "... and of Christ Jesus our hope," 1Tim. 1:17 KJ: "... the only WISE God, [be] honour and glory ..." ESV: "... the only God, be honor and glory ..." 1Tim. 3:16 KJ: "... GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, ..." ESV: "... He was manifested in the flesh, ..." COMMENT: The ESV misses a HUGE point: It was GOD that was manifest in the flesh. 1Tim. 5:21 KJ: "I charge [thee] before God, and the LORD Jesus Christ, ..." ESV: "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus ... I charge you to keep these rules ..." 1Tim. 6:1 KJ: "... that the name of God and [HIS] DOCTRINE be not blasphemed." ESV: "... that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled." COMMENT: I can 'teach' 2+2=4 but that is NOT GOD's "DOCTRINE". The ESV ruins this important verse. 1Tim. 6:5 KJ: "... men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that GAIN IS GODLINESS: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF." ESV: "... people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that GODLINESS IS a means of GAIN." COMMENT: In the ESV, the phrase: "FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF" is omitted. Also, the ESV has twisted this verse. Re-read it carefully. 1Tim. 6:10 KJ: "For the love of money is THE root of all evil: ..." ESV: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. ..." COMMENT: There is a big difference between the ESV's 'a' root and the correct King James reading of "THE" root. 1Tim. 6:19 KJ: "... that they may lay hold on ETERNAL LIFE." ESV: "... that they may take hold of that which is truly life." COMMENT: 'True life' on this earth DOES NOT COMPARE to "ETERNAL LIFE"! 1Tim. 6:20 KJ: "... oppositions of SCIENCE falsely so called:" ESV: "... contradictions of what is falsely called 'knowledge,'" COMMENT: It's NOT 'knowledge' that sometimes attacks the gospel, it's "SCIENCE" falsely so called. For example: The theory of evolution, which, BTW, has been proven wrong at some good creationist web sites, like: http://www.drdino.com http://www.answersingenesis.org http://www.icr.org 2Tim 1:7 KJ: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND." ESV: "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." COMMENT: God has given us a SOUND MIND (KJ). But, it is GONE in the ESV. 2Tim. 1:11 KJ: "... and a teacher OF THE GENTILES." ESV: "... and teacher," COMMENT: The TARGET AUDIENCE of the Apostle Paul's ministerial CALLING has been OMITTED from the ESV. 2Tim. 2:15 KJ: "STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ..." ESV: "Do your best to present yourself to God ..." COMMENT: We are supposed to STUDY the word of God. 2Tim. 2:25 KJ: "... instructing those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES; ..." ESV: "correcting his opponents with gentleness. ..." COMMENT: The ESV is exactly backwards. 2Tim. 3:3 KJ: "... despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD," ESV: "... not loving good," COMMENT: Quite a difference in the meaning of those two phrases. 2Tim. 4:1 KJ: "I charge [thee] therefore before God, AND THE LORD Jesus Christ, ..." ESV: "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, ..." Titus 1:4 KJ: "... from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus Christ our Saviour." ESV: "... from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior." Titus 2:13 KJ: "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious APPEARING OF THE GREAT GOD and our Saviour JESUS CHRIST;" ESV: "waiting for our blessed hope, THE APPEARING OF THE GLORY of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ," COMMENT: The ESV emphasizes the appearance of GLORY (an inanimate object). The KJ emphasizes the appearance of GOD (an ALL POWERFUL BEING). Do you see the subtle change in the ESV? Quite a DIFFERENCE in those two phrases. There is a HUGE change in doctrine, here. Titus 3:10 KJ: "A man that is an HERETICK after the first and second admonition reject;" ESV: "As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him," COMMENT: WHAT? JESUS CHRIST was divisive!!! The King James Bible is correct: The one that holds to false doctrine (the HERETICK) is the one to be rejected, NOT the one EXPOSING false doctrine. Philemon 6 KJ: "... every good thing which is in you IN CHRIST JESUS." ESV: "... every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ." COMMENT: The King James gives glory to CHRIST JESUS; the ESV emphasizes MAN. Heb. 2:7 KJ: "... thou crownedst him with glory and honour, AND DIDST SET HIM OVER THE WORKS OF THY HANDS:" ESV: "... you have crowned him with glory and honor," COMMENT: Jesus being "OVER THE WORKS OF THY HANDS" has been REMOVED from the ESV. Heb. 2:16 KJ: "For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham." ESV: "For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham." COMMENT: The ESV is not even close. Heb. 3:1 KJ: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of THE heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our PROFESSION, CHRIST Jesus;" ESV: "Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession," COMMENT: CHRIST is left out and "THE" heavenly calling is changed to 'a' heavenly calling. Also, don't the translators know the difference between "PROFESSION" and 'confession'? Heb. 3:16 KJ: "FOR SOME, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by Moses." ESV: "For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not ALL those who left Egypt led by Moses?" COMMENT: The ESV is exactly backwards. Heb. 4:8 KJ: "For if JESUS had given them REST, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day." ESV: "For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on." COMMENT: Our "REST" is in the LORD JESUS, not in Joshua! Heb. 7:21 KJ: "... Thou [art] a priest for ever AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC:)" ESV: "... You are a priest for ever." COMMENT: What TYPE of priest? We do not know from the ESV because "after the order of Melchisedec" has been omitted. Heb. 10:14 KJ: "For by one offering he hath perfected FOR EVER them that ARE SANCTIFIED." ESV: "For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified." COMMENT: The ESV changes "ARE SANCTIFIED" (a task COMPLETED) to 'being sanctified' (a task IN WORK). Also, Jesus did not just perfect 'for all time', Jesus perfected "FOR EVER". FOR EVER INCLUDES the dimension of 'all time' BUT ALSO INCLUDES ETERNITY where there is NO TIME! Think about the difference. Heb. 10:30 KJ: "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH THE LORD. ..." ESV: "For we know him who said, 'Vengeance is mine; I will repay.' ..." COMMENT: Knowing 'him who said ...' is vague and could be ANYBODY. This verse is supposed to be about GOD, as stated in the King James Bible. Heb. 11:6 KJ: "... he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him." ESV: "... he rewards those who seek him." COMMENT: We must DILIGENTLY seek him. James 5:16 KJ: "Confess [your] FAULTS one to another, ..." ESV: "Therefore, confess your sins to one another ..." COMMENT: The Bible says that ONLY GOD can forgive sins. Therefore, we are supposed to confess our SINS to him. We should, however, confess our FAULTS to one another. Note: This doctrinal error in the ESV is ALSO in Catholic doctrine and practices. 1Peter 1:22 KJ: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT ..." ESV: "Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth ..." COMMENT: What happened to God's Holy Spirit? The King James Bible gives GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT the glory; the ESV credits man. 1Peter 2:2 KJ: "... desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may GROW THEREBY:" ESV: "... long for the pure spiritual milk, THAT BY IT YOU MAY GROW UP INTO SALVATION-" COMMENT: What? Read this very carefully. You see, a person must be LIVING in order to GROW, and a person who is Spiritually alive ALREADY HAS SALVATION. Lastly, one does NOT 'grow up into salvation' that is salvation BY WORKS. 1Peter 3:15 KJ: "But sanctify the Lord GOD in your hearts: ..." ESV: "but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord ..." COMMENT: Is this ANOTHER attempt to do away with the DEITY of our Lord? 1Peter 4:1 KJ: "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered FOR US in the flesh, ..." ESV: "Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, ..." COMMENT: Christ suffered FOR US. Kind of important, don't you think? 1Peter 4:14 KJ: "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS GLORIFIED." ESV: "If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you." COMMENT: The ESV leaves out the GLORY God deserves. 1Peter 5:11 KJ: "To him [be] GLORY and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." ESV: "To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen." 2Peter 2:1 KJ: "... there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES, ..." ESV: "... there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, ..." COMMENT: The problem is that the heresies are DAMNABLE. 2Peter 2:17 KJ: "... to whom the mist of darkness is reserved FOR EVER." ESV: "... For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved." COMMENT: FOR EVER is a long time, yet that part of the warning has been DELETED in the ESV. 1John 1:7 KJ: "... and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin." ESV: "... and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." 1John 2:20 KJ: "But ye have an UNCTION from the Holy One, AND YE KNOW ALL THINGS." ESV: "But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge." COMMENT: Are "UNCTION" and 'anointing' the same? 1John 3:16 KJ: "Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD], ..." ESV: "By this we know love, ..." COMMENT: GOD is left out! Also, what happened to GIVING GOD THE GLORY for his love? 1John 4:3 KJ: "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: ..." ESV: "and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. ..." COMMENT: Not true ESV! Remember, EVIL SPIRITS DID CONFESS/ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS. In Luke 4:34 (and in Mark 1:24) a man having a "spirit of an unclean devil" said to Jesus: "... Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [THOU] JESUS OF NAZARETH? art thou come to destroy us? I KNOW THEE who thou art; THE HOLY ONE OF GOD". 'New versions' like the ESV corrupt the test for the anti-christ/test for evil spirits. What evil spirits CAN NOT SAY is: "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh". 1John 4:19 KJ: "We love HIM, because he first loved us." ESV: "We love because he first loved us." COMMENT: The ESV missed the topic, totally. "We love HIM, because he first loved us." 1John 5:6-7 KJ: "This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE." ESV: "This is he who came by water and blood- Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify:" COMMENT: The majority of verse 7 is omitted. 1John 5:8 KJ: "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree IN ONE." ESV: "the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree." 1John 5:13 KJ: "... that ye may know that ye have eternal life, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD." ESV: "... that you may know that you have eternal life." COMMENT: No reason is given for this phrase being omitted. 2John 1:3 KJ: "Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from THE LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." ESV: "Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father's Son, in truth and love." Rev. 1:9 KJ: "... and FOR the testimony of Jesus CHRIST." ESV: "... and the testimony of Jesus." Rev. 1:11 KJ: "Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, ..." ESV: "saying, 'Write what you see in a book ...'" COMMENT: Jesus as "ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST" has been omitted. Rev. 5:14 KJ: "... And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER." ESV: "... and the elders fell down and worshiped." COMMENT: Worshipped WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil? Who? The ESV doesn't say. But, in the King James Bible it is CLEAR: We worship him that "LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER"! Rev. 6:17 KJ: "For the great day of HIS wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" ESV: "for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?" COMMENT: There is quite a difference between 'their' wrath and "HIS" wrath! Rev. 8:13 KJ: "... and heard AN ANGEL FLYING ... saying with a loud voice, ..." ESV: "... and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice ..." COMMENT: How can the translators mis-translate ANGEL as eagle? Also, whoever heard of eagles TALKING? Rev. 11:17 KJ: "... We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, AND ART TO COME; ..." ESV: "... We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, ..." COMMENT: WHAT IS JESUS GOING TO DO? That's right: He is COMING AGAIN! But, the ESV OMITS IT. Rev. 12:12 KJ: "... Woe to THE INHABITERS OF the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, ..." ESV: "... But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you ..." COMMENT: There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in woe coming to the 'earth and sea' vs. to the "INHABITERS OF" the earth and sea. Rev. 13:16 KJ: "And HE causeth all, ... to receive a mark IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads:" ESV: "Also it causes all, ... to be marked ON the right hand or the forehead," COMMENT: First off, it is a "HE" that does this NOT an 'it'. Secondly, the "mark of the beast" will be IN the right hand or IN the forehead (as in the possibility of a microchip, or something IN the skin that CANNOT be washed off etc.). Note: Something ON the right hand or ON the forehead could be more easily REMOVED. Rev. 15:3 KJ: "... thou King OF SAINTS." ESV: "... O King of the nations!" COMMENT: There is a difference. Think about it. Rev. 16:7 KJ: "And I heard ANOTHER OUT OF THE ALTAR SAY, ..." ESV: "And I heard the altar saying, ..." COMMENT: Whoever heard of an altar TALKING? Rev. 19:8 KJ: "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and WHITE: for the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints." ESV: "it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints." COMMENT: The linen of the saints is WHITE because WHITE symbolizes PURITY. 'Bright' could be ANY COLOR. Also, fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints (which GOD GAVE TO US and HE GETS THE GLORY for it). The fine linen IS NOT the righteous 'deeds' of the saints (which would give man the glory). Rev. 20:9 KJ: "... and fire came down FROM GOD out of heaven, ..." ESV: "... but fire came down from heaven ..." COMMENT: The point is: It was GOD that judged. Rev. 21:24 KJ: "And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED shall walk in the light of it: ..." ESV: "By its light will the nations walk, ..." COMMENT: A BIG difference. Rev. 22:14 KJ: "Blessed [are] they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, ..." ESV: "Blessed are those who wash their robes, ..." COMMENT: 'Wash their robes'? What? Are those two verses the same? Brothers and sisters: If you want TO BE BLESSED, BE SURE TO DO HIS (Jesus') COMMANDMENTS! Amen? Amen!
